Graht is a supporting antagonist in Dragalia Lost, being one of the main antagonists of the Ilian Apostles Arc. He is a corrupt Cardinal of the Northern Ilian Church who assists the pope Origa and the apostle Basileus in resurrecting Satan. However, unlike his compatriots who wish to use Satan's power for the good of humanity, Graht is nothing more than a vile, power-hungry villain who wishes to become the most powerful man he can be, hoping to use the Demonlord's power in furthering his own plans.
Appearance[]
Graht is an elderly man with shoulder-length grey hair and shadowed green eyes. He wears a grey outer robe with gold details and a red inner robe, along with a necklace with the Ilian halo around his neck. He also wears normal black shoes and a red belt.
Biography[]
Background[]
Not much is known about Graht's past, but it is stated that he was born into poverty, climbing the ranks of society to become Cardinal. Unlike his fellow conspirators Origa and Basileus, this tragic past only filled him with a desire for more power, always yearning to be the strongest.
Over a decade before the events of Dragalia Lost, Graht, wishing to test a newly built weapon he made, chooses a small village as a target. He names the villagers heretics and tasks the Wing of War to eliminate any dissenters along with his angel Michael, who was unaware of the cardinal's true intentions. Unbeknownst to him, in the village lived a young man who would swear revenge on whoever destroyed his village.
Graht is enlisted by the pope Origa in her plot to revive Satan along with the apostle Basileus, with him using his vast political power to grant passage for her to take the sealing stones sealing away the demons and experimenting on them, planning to use Basileus as the vessel for Satan. Unbeknownst to Graht, Basileus was the young man from the village he destroyed and that he and Origa had been planning Graht's demise at the end of the revival.
Main Campaign and Ilian Apostle Arc[]
Agents of the Goddess[]
Graht makes a brief appearance here, discussing the vanquishing of Otherworld Ramiel with Loki. Pleased that the demon was summoned for a satisfactory amount of time and without much problem, Graht notes that Euden is an exceptionally strong person, having assisted in slaying the demon and thus decides to capture him, as well as summoning Basileus back to headquarters for discussion.
Chapter 17[]
Upon hearing news of Euden's arrival, Origa orders for his arrest after hearing of his strength from Graht, ordering for the prince to be taken directly to the Curia. This worries Graht as he's concerned Basel, the Archbishop would kick up a fuss over the hostile treatment of South Grastaea's most powerful monarchy. However, Origa assures him that Grams is powerful enough to handle such matters and thus orders the Templars to capture Euden, although in the end they fail.
Later on, Graht, revealing his secret hungering for the position of pope, asks of Loki to fetch him the Dawnshard, which would grant him his wish. Unbeknownst to him, Loki too desires the Dawnshard for his own means, planning to betray the Cardinal later on.
Faith Forsaken: Part One[]
With plans going smoothly, Graht receives news of Harle obtaining the Dawnshard and decides to begin making final preparations for Satan's revival: beginning with arresting the apostles so as to weaken Basel's influence over Grams and leaving nobody to oppose the plan. Framing the leaders of the apostles and Archangels, Regina and Sandalphon for high treason, as well as "Faris"(later revealed to be a mana decoy), Ryszarda and Raphael for murder, with Nevin, Pinon, Gabriel and Ramiel still away investigating details about the revival plan.
Fortunately, Regina gets her guard to deliver a message to Origa, requesting for an audience. Despite Graht's protests, Origa realises that the chief apostle is her long-lost stepsister and allows Regina to meet her and allow her to plead innocent. While Regina is denied, she is granted her tablet back. Graht learns of the relationship between the two women and, fearing Origa's sympathy would impede his plans, orders Regina to be assassinated. Fortunately the apostle swiftly dispatches the guards and, figuring out that Graht is reaching his endgame, contacts all the apostles to act quickly.
Realising Graht's involvement in the planning of the Auspelica festival, the apostles realise that he was planning to sacrifice the attendees as the 666 souls needed to resurrect Satan. Spotting a missing person on the guest list, Regina deduces the last sacrifice to be Origa. Meanwhile, Graht unleashes the Archdemons on the attendees, eagerly awaiting his rulership of all Grastaea after he attains Satan's power. However, he soon notices that the Archdemons are killing with reckless abandon and the rites needed are not being followed. He tries to control them with the sealing stones but to no avail, which Loki explains is due to the miasma being fully released, turning the stones into nothing but regular rocks. Loki also reveals to Graht that he was the one who summoned the demons and led the attack that Pinon and Nevin were researching, being able to control miasma himself due to being a demon.
To the Cardinal's horror, Basileus reveals he knew Loki's true nature all along and that he never intended to be Satan's vessel at all, revealing himself as one of the villagers from the village Graht destroyed during his weapon's test fire. Cornered and utterly vulnerable, the Cardinal cowardly pleads for his life, attempting to reason that his actions were necessary for him to achieve his current power and tries to ask of Basileus to spare him, granting him anything he wants in return but to no avail.
The apostles arrive at the scene of the carnage, where Loki and Basileus mockingly greet them. They battle, with the real Harle stepping in to pin Basileus down. However, Loki pits a miasma copy of Asura against the apostles, allowing for their escape. However, upon the copy's death, the copy is revealed to be a transformed Graht, who with his last breath, expresses his regret at not being able to attain absolute power. Origa reveals herself to be the true mastermind, with the Cardinal being a mere sacrifice and with all preparations complete, she offers herself up as the true vessel to revive Satan.
