Villain Overview

Grandfather: Thank you, son! Thank you for reawakening the pure evil that lay dormant within me for these many years.
Father: My pleasure. Dad?
Grandfather: And now... GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!
~ Grandfather upon being brought back by Father.
My fellow villains, revengefully, I make this solemn pledge! This time, I will NOT let a child get the better of me! Never again! Shall youngsters interrupt my tranquility! With their running around and loud music! And their "Can I have a nickel? I want a nickel!" NOOO! For this time, I shaw transform each and every snot-nosed brat on this planet into ancient, agified Senior Citi-zombies! Before I force them to produce bowl after bowl of sweet delicious tapioca FOR ME!!
~ Grandfather revealing his true intentions to the Evil Adult Organization while rising to power.
Grandfather: Monty, Monty, Monty. Did you honestly believe that 39 gazillion tons of red-hot metal and duct tape would crush me?
Numbuh Zero: Wasn't trying to crush you Pappy. I just wanted to see what would happen when you put an adult into a decommissioning chamber.
Numbuh Zero: Now, Nigel!
Grandfather: You’re out of my will, you brat!
~ Grandfather's last words before he and Monty get decommissioned by his grandson, Numbuh One.

Benedict Wigglestein Uno Sr., also known as Grandfather, is the overarching antagonist of the Codename: Kids Next Door series, serving as the main antagonist of Cartoon Network's 3rd animated feature film Codename: Kids Next Door: Operation Z.E.R.O.. He is by far the most cruel, feared, dangerous and evil villain that the KND has faced as a whole.

He is an extremely powerful and tyrannical being who once conquered the world before he was overthrown by his elder son, Monty Uno. Many years later, he was revived by his younger son and successor, Father, and began transforming humanity into Senior Citi-zombies. He is also the grandfather of Nigel Uno (Numbuh 1) and Number Zero/Monty Uno's father and arch-nemesis.

He was voiced by Neil Ross, who also voiced Norman Osborn/Green Goblin in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, the Cyclops in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, Colonel Volgin in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and was uncredited for voicing CatNap in Poppy Playtime Chapter 3: Deep Sleep.

History[]

During the Victorian Era, Grandfather (back then known as Pappy) conquered the world with an iron fist and forced all children to work in his tapioca factories. One day, his son, Monty Uno, discovered the Book of KND, led an uprising of children and defeated his evil father by erasing memories and powers.

During the dawn of the 21st century, Grandfather's other son, Benedict Uno, used the Recommissioning Module on Grandfather, now a decrepit old man, to restore his former self, and expected to work together with him to destroy the Kids Next Door and rule the world alongside him. However, Grandfather shunned his son and angrily ordered him to leave, calling him a failure and claiming that he liked his other son more.

He then revealed his plan: To turn all of the kids in the world into Senior Citi-zombies, as well as everyone who was ever a kid. The villains cheered, until they suddenly realized that they all used to be children and that this amounted to every person in the world. They tried to flee, but in vain. Once Grandfather turned all of them into his zombie minions, he ordered them to invade the Kids Next Door's treehouses throughout the world, turn them into zombies as well, and turn their treehouses into tapioca factories. Soon, every nearly KND operative (and presumably every person) on the planet was transformed, save for Numbuh 1, who would commission his father by the name of Numbuh 0 again.

After establishing his rule over the world, Grandfather turned his efforts to finding and destroying the Book of KND, as it could provide children with hope; the only thing that could defeat him. Grandfather arrived near its location just in time to be confronted by his son Monty, who was carrying the book in his back pocket. Monty wrestled with Grandfather until he found the Book of KND. Monty was able to resist Grandfather's power, but soon began to succumb to it.

Monty was able to fight off Grandfather long enough for Sector V to launch the KND Moonbase at him, and seemingly destroyed him. However, Grandfather survived relatively unscathed and emerged from the wreckage, only to find out that he was standing in a Decommissioning Chamber from the Moonbase. Grandfather and Numbuh 0 were both decommissioned once again, and turned back into their harmless, and clueless adult selves. This causes all of the Senior Citi-Zombies to turn back into their regular selves too and the tapioca factories to turn back into sector tree houses, thus leaving Grandfather's plans for conquest in vain.

Appearance[]

Grandfather is an extremely tall and lanky being who is significantly larger than a normal person. He has a bald head and a large beard with long, scraggly strands of hair.

Personality[]

Grandfather is an uncaring, sadistic, traitorous, ruthless, abusive and rebarbative parent who betrays all of the other villains, who were willing to help him, without a second thought and turned them into Senior Citizombies along with the KND. He is also shown to be extremely selfish, deceitful, and manipulative, wanting the entire world for himself simply, so that he can have solitude and tapioca pudding, and making the citizombies loyal only to him.

However, despite his evil intentions, he is shown to be fond of his elder son, Monty (when he is not directly opposing him). Grandfather shows sad disappointment towards the virtuous life that his son chose to have. Before Grandfather's decommissioning at the end of Operation Z.E.R.O., it was revealed that despite Monty's rebellion years ago, he was still in Grandfather's will.

However, compared to his younger son, Grandfather is extremely disappointed and crestfallen with Ben, and views him as disgraceful and cowardly, despite Ben following in his footsteps. He is also displeased and unenthusiastic to see him again after his recommissioning, as Ben hasn't recommissioned him out of love for his father but only so that he could finally defeat the KND.

On top of this, he was unimpressed, and he grows extremely annoyed and obstreperous when Ben points out that unlike Monty, he grows up to be pretty cruel, evil, ruthless, and diabolical, so he blasts him in order to make him shut up. He did, however, show fear when Ben became Father again while being enraged before he quit working with his brother.

Powers and Abilities[]

To this day, Grandfather is the single most powerful being in the Kids Next Door universe. His demonic powers are so advanced that he was the sole ruler of the world once and was unmatched, even by his own progeny. At the peak of his powers, he can easily warp reality by his mere presence alone. The powers he had shown are;

  • Transmogrification: Grandfather has shown an incredible power to transmogrify matter into whatever he wishes. He was even able to affect inanimate objects, and made them Victorian Era in appearance. He also created countless Victorian-Industrial styled factories through this power.
  • Age Manipulation: Grandfather had shown the power to alter the aging process of living beings. He turned people into Senior Citi-zombies; monstrous, geriatric undead who could turn others into zombies as well, through their touch. Although people turned into Senior Citizombies did retain their mental faculties and their personality. However, his own son, Monty Uno, showed a great resistance to this power.
  • Self-Shapeshifting: Like father, he too can shape-shift and take on whatever form he desires. Upon his recommissioning, he used his transmogrification powers to transform back into his demonic form.
  • Elemental Manipulation: Grandfather has shown the ability to manipulate certain natural elements for a variety of purposes. Upon his memories being restored, he showcased the ability to manipulate darkness and shadows to reconstitute his demonic form. He had even shown the power to project heated energy blast form his eyes, create electrical surges when angered and even manipulate fire. However, his power over fire is much more advanced than his son Benedict Uno, a.k.a. Father.
  • Devotion Inducement: After transforming people into Senior Citizombies, while they retained most of their individual free will and personality, they also became fanatically devoted and obedient to Grandfather.
  • Telekinesis: He has telekinetic abilities similar to father himself. He can even use this power to levitate like his son, Father, he too can levitate as seen when he was leading his Senior Citi-zombies.
  • Supernatural Strength: He has a degree of immense strength, being able to break through tons of metal which he was buried beneath.
  • Near Invulnerability: Due to his immense demonic powers, he is also almost impossible to harm, let alone defeat, in direct combat. Not even "39 gazillion tons of red hot metal and duct tape" was able to crush him or even hurt him at all.
  • Pseudo Immortality: Grandfather has shown an extremely long lifespan, because he had been alive before the Victorian Era and has lived to the dawning years of the 21st century without getting older, despite the fact that he forgot he has powers.

Weaknesses[]

  • Decommissioning: However, his mind is his weakness, as erasing his memories makes him forget the fact that he even has great demonic powers. This makes him a clueless and completely harmless old man.

Quotes[]

To think my own son would rebel against my evil power! I'm giving you just three seconds to go to your room... OR ELSE!
~ Grandfather's villainous breakdown
And to ensure my total tranquility, I shall agify everyone who has ever been a kid!
~ Grandfather
Go my fourth my minions. Decimate those meddlesome Kids Next Door. Once they're ageified and making me oceans of tapioca, I shall be refueled enough! To find their stupid Book of KND! And tear it to shreds! Forever ending anyone's hope for being a child again!
~ Grandfather to his Senior Citi-Zombies
Yes. Yes. But now I must ensure that rule is permanent by destroying that infernal Book of KND. Because when kids read it, they discovered the only thing more powerful than me.
~ Grandfather
NO YOU FOOLS!!! Hope. When my son discovered that book, he became filled with the kind of hope that only snot-nosed kids are stupid enough to believe in. That is why this time, I shall personally destroy every trace of the Book of KND and anyone that stands in my way!
~ Grandfather
Whoever accused me of being fair? Oh Monty. If you had only been more evil. You could have been nasty or even mildly unpleasant.
~ Grandfather
I'm getting tired of all this resistance son. Why don't you behave for once in your life. Now go fetch your pappy that book.
~ Grandfather
You know what I did wrong last time? I gave you a choice between going to your room or being punished. I won't give you that choice again!
~ Grandfather
Your resitance is impressive but pointless. You cannot withstand by Senior Citi-zombification forever! Even you my son are zero compare to me!
~ Grandfather
At last! My victory is complete! With the destruction of the book, I will rule the Earth unchallenged and nothing will ever stop me! Ever again! Not even a giant flaming moonbase?
~ Grandfather

Trivia[]

  • The Crazy Old Cat Lady stated that Grandfather's plan to turn children into zombified minions to make tapioca for him as insane; showing that even by the standards of villainous crazy, Grandfather trumps them all.
  • Grandfather was reawakened by using the Recommissioning Module, despite not being a member of the Kids Next Door. This also implied that he was defeated in the past by a Decommissioning Device, despite the KND (7th Age/Futuristic that is) not even existing prior to his defeat. However, it's possible that the Recommissioning Module is able to restore anyone's lost memories, not just people who've been put through Decommissioning.
  • Operation: C.A.K.E.D.F.I.V.E. involved the Annoyingly Cute Triplets Who Lived Upon the Hill, who were enemies of the KND during the nineteenth century. Father referred to the mother of the ACTWLUH as his great-grandmother, which would make her Grandfather's Grandmother and one of the triplets his mother. It was shown in Operation: Z.E.R.O., that Numbuh 0 was the founder of the 7th age of the KND and that the 19th century was a totally different age.
  • Grandfather's overall design resembled Aku from Samurai Jack. Fittingly, Aku is likewise as dangerous, but perhaps more powerful, than Grandfather.
  • Grandfather's sons and grandson were among the only characters to never be turned into Senior Citi-zombies.
  • Numbuh 1, Monty, Father and the Delightful Children from Down the Lane were the only people seen to be totally immune to Senior Citi-Zombification, because they were seen touching the zombies and remained normal. That implied that they would be the future heirs to Grandfather's powers, though it was also possible that they needed to be touched by Grandfather himself to undergo the process. This could be further presumed by the fact that Monty, Grandfather's son, was directly touching Grandfather and being zombified, though he was able to resist the senior zombification for a much longer period of time. Interestingly moments later when Grandfather throws Monty towards the side when he found out the latter had the Book of KND, Monty is seen back to normal as if he was never touched in the first place.
  • Though he has a few comedic moments, Grandfather is considered to be the most sadistic and terrifying villain on the show.
  • Ironically, despite being the main antagonist of the movie and Numbuh One's grandfather, he and Numbuh One never interact.
  • In the trailers for Operation Z.E.R.O., many mistook the image of Grandfather over the Earth for Father; believing the villain to have transformed. This can be excused due to the surprise of Grandfather.
