Granny is the main antagonist of the 1999 horror film Granny.

He is the brother of Tom who played a part in his killer prank by dressing up as an elderly serial killer.

The prank was made by the friend group of 7 (Jason, Kristine, Monica, Natalie, Pete, Tom, and Vic) to trick their new friend Michelle all for fun.

Personality[]

Granny is shown as a sadistic killer, killing her victims in brutal ways. Many examples could be stabbing someone multiple times and leaving them alive to die, impaling someone through the eyes with knitting needles Infront of their friend and much more. Nothing about the brother's personality is shown however, but he is seen showing sympathy for the death of Michelle.

Appearance[]

Granny wears a long-sleeved blued dress with white buttons on them; he also wears long white socks and big black shoes. He wears a white wig with a face mask depicting an elderly person. His nails are also painted the color red, and he has an earring on his right ear.

Biography[]

While the friends wait for Tom's skit about his paranoia, Granny can be heard entering the house. Vic hears the sound, but everyone assumes it was a raccoon. The group then hears crying in their house, they argue where it could be from before Jason decides to head to the basement to check it. Granny first appears when Jason enters the basement of the house and sees him crying to himself. Jason recognizes Granny as his grandma and asks why she is here. Granny stops crying and looks at Jason before quickly grabbing an axe and bashing his head with it

The group notices that the crying sound had stopped, Monica then decides to go to the bathroom to do makeup. While Monica is doing makeup, the group hears a banging sound in the basement. Thinking it's a sign that the skit is ready, they start heading to the basement. Meanwhile, Monica is still doing her makeup. She hears creaking inside the toilet room; she opens the door to find no one in there. Monica heads back to doing her makeup before Granny appears from the same room she checked and starts to stab her.

Back to the group, they make it to the basement and start looking for Jason but can't find him. Back at the bathroom, Granny is repeatedly stabbing Monica to death. He eventually stops and heads for the toilet with a roll of toilet paper. Back at the basement, they find the body of Granny's first victim Jason. They assume its fake until Natalie tastes the blood and realizes its real. Pete believes that Tom had killed him for his skit and questions where he is. Vic asks where Monica is, and they all start running to the bathroom where they find her there.

Kristine hears music from downstairs which has them all go there. They find Tom and argue if he was the one who killed Jason and Monica. He explains he went to the store to get beer and chips, but Pete and others don't believe him until Michelle sees Granny from upstairs. Upstairs, Granny hides in one of the many doors in the house. Pete and Tom, who went after him look for which door she is in. Pete chooses one of the doors, but when entering it closes by itself and locks itself backwards. They had chosen the wrong door as Granny appears from another and knocks out Tom with a bat. He opens the door and grabs Pete before jerking him around a bit and eventually throwing him out the window, killing him. After killing Pete, he waves him goodbye and doesn't appear for a while in the movie.

later in the movie, Kristine runs off to the woods for help. She looks around the place after hearing a sound but doesn't find anyone. That is until its revealed Granny was under a pile of leaves in the ground and appears out of it. Kristine doesn't notice until Granny grabs her from behind and ties a rope around her arms and neck. He has her walk far from her with the rope, giving false hope of escape. He starts getting closer to Kristine, having his hand follow the rope. Once he gets to her, he chokes her until he breaks her neck. He then dances until he dances toward the dark.

At the house, Michelle sees Granny at the porch with Kristines corpse. She turns around wondering where Vic is as Granny gets closer to the window and stares at her. When Michelle looks back, she is frightened and runs off. She finds what looks to be a living room with a red chair and sees blue legs there. She assumes its Vic and tells him Kristine is dead but there is no response. She calls for his name before an arm reaches out and opens a nearby box full of knitting needles and yarn. The top half of the body shows to Michelle, revealing that it was Granny sitting on the chair.

Michelle runs upstairs while Granny watchers her. She finds Vic who has a gun, explaining that there is only 1 bullet in it. However, they soon decide to make out for a while. Their romance is interrupted by Granny who appears out of the darkness. Michelle warns Vic about Granny, but he pulls out 2 knitting needles and impales Vics eyes with them through the glasses, killing him. She runs back downstairs while Granny walks after her, she finds Tom and Natalie. Tom tells Michelle and Natalie to get in the car to get help. However, once they get in the car and start driving, Granny appears from the backseat. He punches Michelle and suffocates Natalie with a plastic bag before kissing her. Granny then just looks at Michelle, giving her a chance of escape.

At the house, Tom is seen injured on the porch. Michelle can't seem to open the door leading to the porch, having her saddened. Granny is back as she appears on the porch and drags Tom away from it, killing him offscreen.

Fate[]

Granny's final appearance happens in the garage. After Michelle grabs the gun from Vic's corpse, she slowly heads towards the door leading to the garage. Granny is doing her hair until she hears Michelle enter the garage. She turns around and sees her with the gun. She scares her once last time by walking toward her with her arms up. Michelle keeps telling Granny to stop but she won't listen. At last, she tells him to go to hell before shooting him presumably near the heart, killing him once and for all.

Michelle opens the garage door and heads into the entrance of the house. Sadly, remembering every traumatic killing of her friends Granny has caused, she suffers from a heart attack and dies.

At her funeral, the plot twist is revealed once we see her 7 friends. Turns out, the entire event was a cruel prank. The friends never died, there was never a real elderly killer. All along, Granny was just the brother of Tom who is also still alive. He along with Michelle's friends are saddened by Michelle's death; turns out, she had a heart condition.

However, Michelle is seen driving past her friends, presumably abandoning them for the prank. This part is never explained as there was never a sequel to this movie, leaving a mystery that will never be solved.
