Gravity Beetle (also known as Gravity Beetbood in Japanese) is a minor antagonist from Mega Man X3, where he appears as one of the 8 Maverick bosses. He is the brother of Boomer Kuwanger.

Gravity Beetle wields the Gravity Wells for his weapon. This allows him or anyone who copies his weapon to create floating spheres. These spheres increase the effects of gravity in their area. Blast Hornet is weak to the Gravity Wells. Beetle himself is weak to the Neon Tiger.

Biography[]

Gravity Beetle was a Maverick Hunter in the Special 17th unit directly under Sigma, much like his brother Boomer Kuwanger. While he never joined Sigma's revolt, he later resigned from his job after Kuwanger met his (apparent) demise at the hands of X. When he learned of Dr. Doppler's uprising, Gravity willingly joined Doppler's army to take revenge against X for his brother's death, making his base on a large aircraft carrier stationed at Doppler Town.

Beetle fights by shooting his Gravity Well, small spheres of energy which bounce around the arena, while doing small jumps and sometimes attempting to charge with his horn. After losing most of his energy, he will create a large black hole on the top of the screen, reducing the fighting area and affecting the room's gravity. His weakness is the Ray Splasher.

Trivia[]

  • Gravity Beetle is the only Maverick boss from Mega Man X3 to reform upon defeat in the manga adaptation of Mega Man X3. He is thus one of six Maverick bosses from that game to reform in the manga.
