Grease is a minor antagonist in the dark fantasy light novel, manga, and anime series, The Eminence in Shadow. He is a member of the infamous organization, the Cult of Diablos. He worked as a member of the group in order to cure his daughter, Millia. He was however killed by Shadow. In the past, he worked as a royal guard of the Midgard Kingdom.
He is voiced by Rikiya Koyama in Japanese.
Appearance[]
Grease is a man in his late 30s with grey hair tied together at the back and was in a green noble uniform wrapped with a cape of a deeper green colour, brown pants, and a pair of brown boots. He possessed a scabbard at his left with the sword he used in battle.
When he takes a pill of a drug, his build becomes far larger and muscular and his eyes turn into a green colour.
Background[]
During his time as a royal guard of the Midgar Kingdom, he used to have a bright life alongside his daughter, Millia. He challenged Iris Midgar, the First Princess of the kingdom during the Bushin Festival, which happened about a course of two years ago. However, due to the loss he received from his opponent, he began to bear a power-hungry demeanour. At some point after, his daughter became a victim of a Demon Possession. This result also attracted the infamous Cult of Diablos who blackmailed him by using his daughter into working for their desires. The organization promised the man to bring back his daughter to her normal state in doing so.
Near the present, a man sent by Grease kidnaps Claire Kagenō, an occupant of the Kagenō family, in order to interogate her if she is also a victim of the Demon Possession.
The Cult of Diablos speculates her to have the blood of the heroes flowing inside her. When he questions her, the girl mocks him for being defeated by Iris two years ago in the Bushin Festival, causing Grease to land a blow meant to her, who dodges it despite being restrained by chains. Claire answers that she can come and is now fine after being aided by her brother after the man asked her about her condition while succumbing to the speculated symptoms. Claire frees herself upon hearing the man mention that he is curious about her brother, Cid Kageno. He takes her down before being told by one of his guards that some enemies have invaded the base.
He is soon confronted by several females wearing black who take all his men out. Realizing that they are the secret organization known as the Shadow Garden, he engages in a fight against one of them.
He then retreats upon learning that they will not try to kill him if he gives them information they wish. With no other choice but to survive the battle without revealing anything, he consumes a pill to
enhance his powers which is enough to evade the enemies by exiting through a trap door. Upon entering a lower section of the base, this only led him to confront the leader of the Shadow Garden, Shadow. They engage in a fight where he is greatly overpowered. As Shadow replies that he will just dive deeper if, than the darkness of this word, he decides to consume a second pill to enhance him even more. Even with this, Shadow still possessed more power enough to defeat him. On the verge of death, he thinks of the wonderful times he spent with his daughter in the past with his daughter still succumbing from the curse while being used by the Cult of Diablos.
Trivia[]
He was originally named Olba in the Japanese original version. His name is then changed to Grease by the company that published the series.
