The Great General of Darkness is a major antagonist in Great Mazinger, the sequel series to Mazinger Z, serving as the overarching antagonist of Mazinger Z and the main antagonist of the film Mazinger Z Vs. Great General of Darkness and the first half of Great Mazinger.
He is the commander-in-chief of the Mycenae Empire's military, the superior of the Seven Generals of Mycenae and the second-in-command to Mycenae's Emperor of Darkness.
He was voiced by Kenichi Ogata.
Biography[]
Great Mazinger[]
He first appears in the final episode of Mazinger Z where it is revealed that he, through his henchman Archduke Gorgon, was manipulating Dr. Hell in order to further the Mycenae's conquest of the world. Following Dr. Hell's defeat at the hands of Mazinger Z, the Great General of Darkness surfaced to lead the Mycenae Empire's invasion of the surface world and to destroy Mazinger Z. However, they faced an unexpected obstacle in the form of Great Mazinger.
After the many failures of his underlings to defeat Great Mazinger, the Great General chose to take to the battlefield himself to face Great Mazinger in a fight to the death. After a long and tough battle, the Great General seemingly trounced Great Mazinger, only for Tetsuya to strike while the General let his guard down and kill the Great General. After his defeat, the Emperor of Darkness resurrected Dr. Hell as the Grand Marshal of Hell to replace him.
Shin Mazinger Z: The Impact[]
In Shin Mazinger Z: The Impact, he appears after Baron Ashura commited suicide to summon the Mycenae Empire. After being summoned, the General sliced Mount. Foji in half. Later, Koji tried to defeat him with Big Bang Punch, but had no effect and even heavily damaged the Mazinger Z instead. However, due to a lack of sequel of the anime, it is unknown what happened afterwards.
