He is the arch-enemy of John Aman, the titular superhero. The Question is a Tibetan monk, once a member of The Council of Seven and a former mentor of John Aman. However, while the other monks were benevolent, The Great Question sought to use Aman for his own evil agenda and tries to mentally control him in the first few issues until the hero became immune to his powers.
The Question is also a criminal mastermind who runs his own crime syndicate that seemingly spans across the globe. He eventually became an ally of the Nazis, aiding them in their attempts to conquer the world and destroy the American Government. He also has a rivalry with fellow member of the Council, a monk named Nika.

Most of the The Great Question's origins is a mystery, even his real name is unknown. However, what is known that he is a member of the Council of Seven, a group of mystical tibetan monks that live in the Himalayas. However, The Great Question became corrupted, and hungers for power, and wanted to use Aman and his new abilities for his own evil ambitions instead of using his powers for good as Nika instructed Aman to do.

Gallant Comics[]
- Main article: Great Question (Gallant Comics)
The Great Question appears as the overarching antagonist of John Aman the Amazing-Man six issues series. There, he is the leader of the Thousand and One/1001 and is behind the events of the series such as Cadmus's kidnapping of Zoe Henderson. All to lure in Amazing-Man into a trap.
Personality[]
The Question himself is a devious, diabolical criminal mastermind with high ambitions and aspirations for world conquest. He is a power-hungry megalomaniac willing to commit do whatever it takes to achieve ultimate power and control, even betraying his fellow council members for his own agenda.
The Question is also a greedy opportunists, as when he learns a pair of criminals are holding a girl hostage for millions of dollars, the Question decided to posses Aman and murder the criminal leader so he could take control of the operation so the money could be use for his organization. He also takes the opportunity of Aman abusing his power to lure him back to the council so he could control John again for his agenda.
Once John Aman became immune of his powers and had him banished from the Council, he became motivated on getting revenge on him whenever he has the chance too even using his close friends and allies as hostages if he tries interfering with his plans. Often tried to lure in Amazing Man into a deadly trap to kill him, even taking his close friend Zona Henderson to use her as bait for his traps. Despite that however, he doesn't underestimate his arch-enemy nor his friend Zona, as he acknowledges Zona as a intelligent woman who could out-wit his minions so he warned them to be wary of her. He tries to persuade Aman to join in his plans for world conquest in more than one occasion, but it's obvious that Aman is a powerful man and The Great Question wants him as nothing more than a pawn.
As the series progresses he also shows how psychopathic and sadistic he can be especially with schemes such as trying to blow San Francisco just to have America go to war with Europe, threatening torture of love ones to get what he wants, committing mass murders and assassinations, or kidnapping Native Americans off the streets to strap them in rockets to be killed as part of his cruel "experiments". His sociopathic disregard for all life can be best shown when he created a whole species of sapient monsters to help him rob banks but when the Amazing Man got in the way, he tries to drown him and all the cops he kidnapped which killed his monster creations much to the Question's apathy. The Great Question holds no care for his minions either, he's not above having them kill if they try to expose his plans (usually due to Aman interrogating them), or became a liability to him. He also constantly insult his minions for failure or incompetence, even threaten to slay one for letting Zona escape.
He demonstrates arrogance and cases of having an ego, thinking his power is greater than Aman despite not underestimating him. He becomes slightly more smug as the series goes on, finding confidence that his schemes would work adding an arrogant grin to it when things goes his way. His arrogance also tend to have him belittle others for their incompetence or lack of skills, often acting condescending. He also shows willingness to work with individuals such as Hitler and his fascist party in their schemes to conquer the world, conducting horrible plans that usually results in wide-scale mass murders this further cementing himself as a monster. He also seems to have lost interest in tryna to get revenge on Amazing Man, becoming much more invested in conquering the United States along with the rest of the world.
