Norman Osborn, better known as the Green Goblin, is a minor antagonist in the 2005 video game Ultimate Spider-Man and the main antagonist of the 2006 prequel Spider-Man: Battle for New York.

He is the CEO of Oscorp and the creator of the OZ formula who wants to kill Spider-Man and Nick Fury.

He was voiced by Peter Lurie (who also voiced Vulcan Raven in Metal Gear Solid, Kidomaru in Naruto, Paxton Fettel in F.E.A.R., Calares in Code Geass, Sabretooth and Avalanche in X-Men Legends, Kraven the Hunter in the video game adaptation of Spider-Man (2002) and Nosferatu Zodd in Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage) in Ultimate Spider-Man and by Neil Kaplan in Spider-Man: Battle for New York.

Biography[]

Spider-Man: Battle for New York[]

He first appears on his computer to say that Peter Parker's becoming Spider-Man was a fluke; a scientist tells him that the OZ formula is ready, and they then test it. Norman is pleased that it's working and then transforms into the Green Goblin, and the building gets set on fire. Goblin reveals himself to the scientist; the scientist thinks they need to get Norman some help. Green Goblin then sees hallucinations, taunting him by telling him he is a failure and that he is nothing compared to Spider-Man. Goblin then attacks and leaves the building and gets to Peter Parker's school while causing a rampage. Spider-Man then finds him, and during the fight, Green Goblin reveals to Spider-Man that he knows he is Peter Parker. Spider-Man doesn't know that Green Goblin is Norman Osborn. Spider-Man lures him out of the school to keep the students safe; they then get to the Queensboro bridge, and police are there to arrest Spider-Man and the Green Goblin; after they fight a bit, the Green Goblin accidentally jumps into the sea.

Later on, S.H.I.E.L.D. finds and captures him; with Norman imprisoned, Nick Fury asks if Norman will help him unlock the secret of his OZ formula, and Norman gives Nick the silent treatment. Nick says he will run blood tests to see if he can gather anything; Norman refuses to give it to him, then plans to make him ache; he gets angry, turns into the Green Goblin again, and busts through a wall. Fury orders to close all exits; however, Green Goblin takes care of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and then manages to escape; then, an explosion happens in the city, and Spider-Man thinks it could be the Green Goblin, then tries to find out. Offscreen, Green Goblin transforms many of Kingpin's men into goblins like him; then they start serving him when Spider-Man heads to building C.N. West 30th, he meets some of them, and then takes them down. Green Goblin appears in a hoodie and escapes. Nick Fury tells Spider-Man that Green Goblin knows who he is and that he will do anything to destroy him. He then gives Spider-Man a tracker to give Spider-Man some help against the Goblin; when Spider-Man heads to a hideout, he finds out Kingpin made a deal with Norman Osborn that he will fund his experiments, set him up, as long as he will reek the financial rewards of their venture, Norman agreed so his research could continue, Spider-Man later finds more of Green Goblin's men, then defeats them.

He then finds out about the Oz compound on the computer and finds out that Norman got all of these goons from Kingpin's men. Green Goblin returns to his lab and finds out that his work has been destroyed. The Green Goblin asks one of his men who destroyed his lab; his man says Spider-Man did it and took them all down. Spider-Man told Kingpin about the fun Goblin was having there, then the hallucinations told Green Goblin to destroy everything and leave no trace. Green Goblin agrees, including killing all of his men. Goblin does all that, then leaves the building. He goes on a rampage in the city, and the hallucinations start taunting him again, calling him a failure and saying that Spider-Man will get him. Goblin has had enough and then tries to get rid of them. Goblin decides to go back to his penthouse to neutralize the side effects of the OZ compound, he does get back to his penthouse but can't find it. He then runs into Silver Sable, who has been hired by the Kingpin to be his bodyguard. Kingpin sees Goblin as a threat and sends her to take down Green Goblin, so Silver Sable introduces herself to Goblin and tells him that Kingpin does not like to be messed with and that he knows Thay he is Norman Osborn. Goblin doesn't care if Kingpin knows, saying he is nothing to him and that she is nothing to him and tells Silver Sable that she is no match for him; they then fight, and Green Goblin wins and is about to finish off Silver Sable, but then Spider-Man webs him, saving Sable. Goblin is happy to see Spider-Man, wanting to meet his new friends, then orders his men to kill Spider-Man.

After Spider-Man defeats Green Goblin's men, Green Goblin is ready to fight Spider-Man again, but then Kingpin appears and knocks out Spider-Man. Kingpin reveals to Green Goblin that he cleaned up his mess, the police have been sent home, and the only loose end left is the Green Goblin. Green Goblin laughs at Kingpin, saying he is nothing compared to the power of the Oz compound. Kingpin says it is his city, and green freaks don't belong; they fight, and Green Goblin wins. Green Goblin is about to finish the Kingpin, but then S.H.I.E.L.D. arrives, telling him to surrender and put Kingpin down. It turns out that Spider-Man used the tracking device Nick Fury gave him earlier to alert him; after Spider-Man reveals that it was Fury who helped him, Green Goblin becomes furious, then tries to throw Kingpin onto Spider-Man, Spider-Man jumps though, Green Goblin tells Spider-Man that he will pay for this and that he and Fury will regret crossing the Goblin, Green Goblin then escapes.

Spider-Man did put a Spider-Tracer on him, but Goblin realized it and took it off, so Spider-Man lost trail of him. Spider-Man finds him after getting help from Ben Urich; Norman is on his computer. Spider-Man asks Norman where his uglier side is. Norman says he is resting. Norman has been preparing for Spider-Man's arrival; he tells Spider-Man that he has a "gift" for him. Demogoblin appears. Norman reveals to Spider-Man that he created him to destroy him; Norman then turns into Green Goblin again and plans to take revenge on Nick Fury and that no one will survive his wrath; Green Goblin then finds the hellicarrier, then breaks into it, wreaking havoc, killing a bunch of agents, then gets to the top floor then breaks through the top deck, he then destroys the hellicarrier. Fury is still alive; Spider-Man then finds him, and Nick tells Spider-Man to find Goblin, tells him he was on top of the flaming wreckage; Spider-Man then finds the Green Goblin, then Green Goblin says it is time for Spider-Man and Nick Fury to die. Spider-Man says no one dies and that it is over, they then fight, Spider-Man defeats the Green Goblin, Green Goblin turns back into Norman, Norman is shocked that his OZ formula failed, S.H.I.E.L.D. takes Norman Osborn into custody for his crimes.

Ultimate Spider-Man[]

When Beetle appears on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s boat, he then finds the Green Goblin, then breaks him out, later on, when Spider-Man heads to Latverian Embassy, Green Goblin causes chaos, then tries to escape from Spider-Man, he then pushes the billboard down to crush civilians to death, Spider-Man then saves them, Green Goblin then surprise attacks Spider-Man, then they fight, then they get into a conference room, Spider-Man then defeats Green Goblin, Sharon Carter and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents appear to arrest Green Goblin, Sharon Carter then says good job to Spider-Man for taking care of Norman.
