~ Greg about Stingray in Party Time |
Greg Hughes is a minor antagonist in Season 4 of Cobra Kai. He is Stingray's nemesis and neighbor.
He is portrayed by P.J. Byrne, who also played Adam Bourke in The Boys.
Biography[]
Greg Hughes is shown when Stingray wakes up and gets ready for his morning. Upon meeting him, he gets into an argument with him due to the fact that he was playing loud music the previous night, and still reminds him that he is on probation still, but Stingray reminds him he's actually off probation now (as his restraining order has expired and his probation has been served, evidently not doing anything to violate either one).
Greg sarcastically taunts him that there are Aerobies on his roof, along with the fact that he wants to hang out with a bunch of kids who like to play kung fu all day when he finds out that he is intending to rejoin Cobra Kai, calling it pathetic, as he knows Raymond still has his man-child behavior. When Raymond tells him that it isn't kung fu but Cobra Kai, he urges him to wash himself up, even mockingly calling him as "Stink Ray", which Greg then laughs about while calling it appropriate. Stingray then threatens him that "when you mess with the Cobra, you get the fangs" before going back to his house.
When Stingray hosts an afterparty for the West Valley students after prom night, which also include the Cobra Kai’s and Miyagi-Do’s, Greg turns off the music, and Stingray notices as he comes into the room, saying, “Whoa, the day the music died. What’s going on? Guys, turn it back on.”
Right then, Greg enters the room and says, “There are families on this street, trying to get some sleep! If you all don’t go home right now, you’re gonna get arrested for underage drinking!”
After Stingray initially calls to some of the other students who were about to leave, telling them it was fine and referring to Greg as his neighbor, Stingray then confronts him, saying he wasn’t invited, and he should leave right then. However, Greg then turns to the other students and says, “OK, no one listen to this speedbump of a human. This is a loser, everyone. That's why he's partying with you, because he has no friends his own age.”
When Stingray says he warned Greg, but Greg had to push it and make it personal, Greg agrees, calling him “Stinkray”, and then adds, “You know what I’m gonna do? I am going to push these buttons, and I am going to call the cops.” However, Stingray begins to mess with him by first grabbing Greg’s wrist and saying, “It’s not Stinkray”, and then kicking him in the groin before knocking him out; with that, Stingray continues to let the West Valley students party.
It is unknown what happened to him afterwards, though he still continues being a neighbor.
Trivia[]
- If Greg was successful in calling the police, then the Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai students would likely get arrested for underage drinking, and thus be sent to a juvenile detention for a short period of time before getting off scot-free (while also putting the All Valley tournament to a halt in the process).
- Greg is among the only characters and the only antagonist unaware of the dojo war between Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do.
