Biography[]

Ray Dolezal, the protagonist and hero of the movie, is investigating about a corpse found in the desert. He and his partner finds that his name is Bob Spencer and next to his body is a suitcase containing $500,000. He decides to masquerade himself as Spencer but he is robbed in a motel. Greg Meeker intercepts Dolezal and informs him that Spencer was an undercover agent. Now that Dolezal has lost the money, Meeker suggests he continues to impersonate Spencer to get the money back or help stop Gorman Lennox, the principal suspect behind the affair.

At some point, Dolezal meets a girl named Noreen. He learns from her that she was romantically involved with Spencer and that he was working with an FBI agent who is behind his murder, according to her suspicion. While explaining, she sees Meeker spying on them and she flees out of fear. Internal affairs officers catch Dolezal. Lennox chases the traffic officers; Dolezal runs away and comes back. He discovers Noreen dead and a Polaroid of her with Spencer and Meeker.

Dolezal notices that and Lane, Lennox's associate are monitored by Meeker and another agent from a van. Breaking into the vehicle and beating the agent, he finds and accuses Meeker of killing Spencer and Noreen. Meeker reveals that he took the $500,000 without permission to steal it and capture Lennox at the same time, but Spencer lost his temper and wanted to leave. Meeker confronted him in the desert and convinced him to kill himself. He tells Dolezal that the Polaroid doesn't prove anything, and no one will take his word against that of a minority agent with a crisp record.

Having succeeded to find the money and striken a deal with Lennox to give it to him, Dolezal takes Meeker, brings him to White Sands National Park, and handcuffs him to a pipe inside an abandoned building. Dolezal explains that Lennox is from the CIA, that the FBI is coming soon, and Meeker can either be punished or try to run away. Dolezal leaves a gun behind him, Meeker grabs it and hides in a bathroom cubicle. When Lennox enters to recuperate the money, Meeker shoots and kills him.

The FBI arrives at the location. Meeker breaks the pipe he was handcuffed to and crosses the desert with the briefcase. Dolezal left the original $500,000 he was suspected of stealing for the FBI to stop investigating, but one of the agents noticed footprints in White Sands and set out to pursue the guy who makes them. As the FBI catches up with the guy who happens to be Meeker, the latter, distracted by the helicopters' noises, stumbles and lets the briefcase go accidentally. The briefcase opens itself and reveals to have only sand in it. Dismayed, Meeker screams a "NO!" out of desperation. While what happens to him afterwards is unknown, one can fairly assume that he was arrested for his crimes.
