Greg Relin is the minor antagonist of The Mentalist TV-show. He is a non-profit leader, turned out to be a thief. He was played by Joe Spano.
Biography[]
During the investigation of another murder, CBI consultant Patrick Jane receives a call from Erica Flynn, a criminal he had once arrested. The thing is that the murdered woman, Natalie Gibecki, was once her client. Erica wants to help in exchange for a lighter sentence for her crimes. Patrick unwittingly agrees. However, the head of the team, which Patrick is a part of, Teresa Lisbon, is unhappy with this turn of events. She does not trust Erica after Patrick proved that she killed her husband. Nevertheless, she decides to personally oversee the investigation. Patrick and Erica visit the murdered woman's place of work and talk to her colleagues. She worked for a charity fund that collected money to build schools and orphanages in Mexico. While Teresa and her team interview everyone who knew the murdered woman at least a little, Patrick finds Natalie's camera with some pictures. These pictures show the places where the schools and orphanages for which the fund allocated money should be (only they are not there). Patrick compares these photos with the photos he saw at the foundation. This way, he confirms that the money allocated by the foundation did not reach its intended destination (which Natalie found out about and it cost her her life). With Erica's help, Patrick exposes the foundation's director, Greg Relin, who knew about it. He stole the money. Natalie went on a tour of Mexico and saw that there was no orphanage at the site where the orphanage was supposed to be built (even though the money was allocated for it). And this, apparently, was not an isolated incident. Natalie went to the director to talk to him about her suspicions. He, fearing exposure, killed her. Greg is arrested. Greg's subordinates try to attack Greg with their fists, but the police take him away in time.
