Dr. Gregory Ross is the overarching antagonist of the Law & Order: Criminal Intent episode "Beast". Ross is a narcissistic dentist and the killer of his first wife Morgan. After getting away with the murder, his second wife Lisa was murdered by Morgan's scorned sister Colleen Dexler.
He was portrayed by Bronson Pinchot.
Biography[]
Ross dated Colleen, until her condescending mother Joanna made Morgan be set up with Ross. They married, but Morgan was unhappy and had an affair with a mechanic. Ross was furious from his bruised ego, so he poisoned Morgan with dioxin, disfiguring her with severe chloracne. He remarried to Lisa Vanston, but Colleen wasn't done with Ross and wanted him to herself. She poisoned and disfigured Lisa uncannily with dioxin, so she had room to pressure Ross to return to her. She showed up at his office and blackmailed him into silence with her knowledge of his crimes. Ross was terrified of Colleen and his risk of facing the justice system, so she placed all the blame on her. As the team knew about Ross' personality beforehand, knowing it drove him to kill Morgan, they arrested him. Colleen was told Ross would go down for both charges, but also he put the murders on her head. Devastated, she confessed to murdering Lisa and that she knew he killed Morgan, leading to her arrest as well. Both of them were imprisoned for murder as a consequence.
Trivia[]
- Ross is inspired by Dr. Barton Corbin, a killer of two of his wives in uncannily staged "suicides", and Dr. Richard Overton, a dangerously jealous husband convicted of poisoning his second wife and attempting to fatally poison his first wife.
