Gregor Karakov is a minor antagonist of the 2008 James Bond film Quantum of Solace. He is one of the high-ranking members of Quantum.
He was portrayed by Kamil Krejci.
History[]
Karakov happens to be a Russian politician who owned several mines in Siberia, but in reality, he is working for Mr. White to further Quantum's goals. He is only seen attending a performance of Tosca at an opera house in Bregenz, Austria alongside other members of Quantum (as arranged by Dominic Greene). However, Bond identifies Kavakov as one of Quantum's members through the intercom system, forcing a nervous Karakov to flee from the opera house.
It is unknown what happened to Karakov following the deaths of Greene and General Medrano, though it is presumed that he is still at large by the authorities. Eventually, it turns out that Quantum was nothing more than a pawn organization run by Ernest Stavro Blofeld of SPECTRE, thus Karakov was nothing more than a middleman.
It can be assumed that Karakov was either executed on the orders of Blofeld to cover SPECTRE's tracks (given to Blofeld's zero tolerance for failure) or may have fled following the dismantling of Quantum.
Trivia[]
- Karakov is one of the three villains in the rebooted 007 series whose fate is left unknown; the others are Guy Haines and Moishe Soref.
