~ Gregorio after defeating U-1 in the non-canon game over. |
Gregorio Siegfried Wilhelm III (グレゴーリオ・ジークフリート・ヴェルヘルムⅢ) is a member of the Gravillian Empire and an antagonist in in the PlayStation 2 rhythm game Gitaroo Man and it's PSP port Gitaroo Man Lives!. He is the sixth enemy U-1 encounters whose Gitaroo is a pipe organ that he conducts to play from afar.
He was voiced by Atsushi Kisaichi in Japanese and Brian Matt-Uhl in English.
Biography[]
While he looks composed, Gregorio is the most crazy and frenzied Gravilian warrior. He is obsessed with beauty and thinks he is the most beautiful man in the world. He is obsessed with serving Lord Zowie and his mother, whom is said to be resting beneath the Cathedral of Madness that he guards. Known as the second strongest warrior of the Gravillian Empire, Gregorio prides his capabilities to the point of obsession. He has a quite an ego, since he feels every woman in the universe loves him for his beauty, and if he is not one's type, he goes absolutely crazy.
Gregorio, although seemingly very confident, is actually very insecure since his mother did not love him or accept him for him being beautiful and he is obsessed with pleasing her.
In the Collection menu of the game, Gregorio is the one voicing the commentary regarding each item that is selected.
Trivia[]
- In Japanese, Gregorio literally screams out the word "Mama". In English, he sings it instead. It has never been confirmed why this change was made, but it was most likely done to make the localized version of the game more kid friendly. A fan asked the official Gitaroo Man website why he screams out the word, and they implied that the cry was done to smash the stereotypical impression of "good-looking" characters.
- Gregorio's background is explored a lot in the Gitaroo Man Drama CD released exclusively in Japan, and gives a lot of insight as to why he does this.
