Greta Hideg is the titular main antagonist of the 2018 psychological thriller drama film Greta.
She was portrayed by Isabelle Huppert.
Biography[]
Greta was married to a man who later died. She had a daughter by him. Greta kept her daughter in isolation and physically and verbally abused her and forced her to take piano lessons. Unable to take it Greta's daughter committed suicide, which drove her into a hysterical state. She began gunning for a surrogate daughter, she did this by leaving bags all over the city. Those that took her bait were eventually imprisoned and abused by Greta. One was a woman named Samantha Bales.
Greta first appeared when Frances McCullen, another victim, returns her bag. Greta gets Frances to be her friend by playing on the fact the latter lost her mother. This continues until Frances discovers her game and tries to sever ties with her. Greta then begins stalking Frances and her roommate Erica. This culminates in a scene at the restaurant Frances works at. Frances later comes to her and tells her she's going away for a while. Greta doesn't believe her and kidnaps her. Greta spends most of this time abusing Frances. When Frances tries to escape, Greta ties her to the bed in the secret room. When a detective shows up looking for Frances, Greta drugs him and he tries to shoot her while she is dancing precariously around, mocking him. After missing four bullets due to affects of the drug dazing the detective, Greta snatches his gun and kills him, much to Frances immense devastation. Sometime later, a woman shows up with a bag Greta left. However, Greta discovers she's been drugged and that the woman is Erica, who showed up to rescue Frances. After waking up, Greta attacks one last time before passing out. Erica and Frances lock her in the box with a Eiffel Tower module. She starts bashing towards the lock in order to break free before the screen turns black.
Personality[]
Greta Hideg may first seem like a kind, eloquent, sweet, and caring person, but when people stop calling or texting her, she starts to slowly show her true colors, in being abusive, violent, and psychopathic and putting her victims in peril. Greta had recently killed many people, except both Frances and Erica, she can stop at nothing until she finishes her atrocious duty of abusing, bedeviling and kidnapping people. Greta is also very intelligent, she knew that Frances was actually lying to her.
