Biography[]
Grief, also known as The Professor, was the top-ranked Arsenal pilot and the leader of the Terrors. One of the oldest Outers, he fought alongside the Brigadier General and quickly rose to prominence through his unmatched skills and unwavering success in every mission he undertook. His consistent victories earned him the unique EX rank, granting him complete freedom and independence on the battlefield.
Self-proclaimed as the first Outer, it remains uncertain whether he was truly the first to adapt to femto particles or simply the first to claim communion with the Dominator through them. During Mission Zero, Grief piloted a Prototype Arsenal with Regret, Gloom, Dread, Barne, and Ali. Gravely injured in combat, he barely escaped, reciting verses from Dante’s Inferno as he limped away from his ruined machine. After the deaths of his comrades, he reached a massive door glowing with light, where he seemingly encountered the Dominator for the first time.
Years before the main events, Grief established the Oval Link Project and the organization Orbital. Officially, the project sought to contain the aftermath of the Moonfall and protect humanity from femto particles and Immortal threats. In truth, it was a vessel for his deeper ambition: to meet the Dominator and usher in a new era for humanity. As part of his vision, he created a contingency through the Rookie, ensuring that his will would continue regardless of his own fate. Grief’s Arsenal, Kloster, was a high-speed combat unit designed for every battle situation, though its complexity demanded exceptional piloting skill.
Rumors suggested that Grief could perceive the chain of cause and effect across all possible outcomes, a gift that elevated him far beyond any other Outer. His abilities, combined with his unmatched tactical intellect, made him a nearly invincible figure—both feared and revered.
