Griff was a shady political operative paid to dig up dirt on people and a supporting antagonist in the WB/CW TV series Smallville. He appeared in several episodes throughout Season 5.
He was portrayed by Adrian Holmes, who also played the Kryptonian clone Basqat in the same series and Rowan Pidgeons in Black Lagoon.

In 2006, Griff was paid by Lex Luthor to get dirt on Jonathan Kent during the campaign for Senator of Kansas. Lex met with Griff in a dark alley in Metropolis Christmas Eve to discuss destroying Jonathan Kent's reputation in the polls while he was running for state senate.
Lex hesitated and said he wanted 24 hours to decide if he wanted to go down that path after all. Before Griff could do anything, shortly afterwards, Lex was shot by thugs and left for dead. After Lex recovered from surgery, Griff visited him in the hospital and again asked what his choice was. Lex decided to have Griff do what needed to be done in order to destroy Jonathan's chance at winning the election.

Griff apparently found something on Jonathan that would destroy him in the polls, and gave Lex a call to arrange a meeting. However, Lex's father Lionel Luthor approached him first and Griff pulled a gun on him but Lionel bought the envelope containing this evidence instead. Griff looked confused when he gave it to Lionel who proceeds to burn the envelope after glancing at the picture, preventing Lex from getting his hands on it.
Griff was later killed and his body was found in Metropolis' infamous Suicide Slums where criminal activity was commonplace. After Lex heard the news, he questioned Lionel about it. Lionel just shrugged off the accusation, stating that it was a dangerous neighborhood after all. Lex was frustrated by Lionel's constant and complete refusal to support him.
