Officer Grigory Alexandrovich Pechorin, often simply refered to as Pechorin is the titular main protagonist of Mikhail Lermontov's A Hero of Our Time.
He is a Russian officer born in Saint Petersburg who falls in a deep "Russian depression" that has affected many young noblemen during the reign of Nikolai the First who ruled his empire by iron fist. This ends up in Grigory becoming a cold, brutal and selfish soldier that tries to find meaning in his life and entertain himself by going on risks like stealing a horse from a Caucasian bandit, entering love relationship with several women and having a duel with his former friend Grushnitsky.
In the 2007 film, he is portraied by Igor Petryenko.
