The Grim Buccaneer is a major antagonist from the Disney Junior animated series Jake and the Never Land Pirates. He is a arguably the most feared pirate and the leader of the Legion of Pirate Villains.
He was voiced by Christian Slater who also voiced Ushari from The Lion Guard (which is another Disney Junior show based of The Lion King, another Disney film).
Biography[]
In "Mystery of the Mighty Colossus", he sneaks aboard the titular ship and abducts Jake's crew from the shadows. After revealing himself, a swordfight commences, and From gets the upper hand with his dirty tricks and knowledge of the vessel, and locks Jake with the others on the brig and plots to abandon them on Pirate Dread Island where they'll never return from. Jake and the others escape, confront, and capture Grim and Jake decides to send him to the island instead. But Grim escapes and vows revenge.
In "The Legion of Pirate Villains", Grim kidnaps Hook (by accident,) Doctor Undergear, and ShiverJack to recruit them in his plan to obtain the mighty treasure of Captain Colossus. Although the three except, each of them plot to double cross the other three and keep the treasure to themselves. The villains pursue the protagonists (while arguing with each other) and Grim manages to steal the Golden Key needed to unlock the chest containing the treasure. At the climax, Jake convinces Hook to turn on Grim as he knew he would use the treasure to destroy Never Land. Hook agrees and allows a sickly Colossus to uncover the treasure himself and defeat Grim and his allies. Grim is later set adrift on a tiny raft, arguing with ShiverJack and Undergear over who is in charge, only to come to an abrupt agreement to row away from the crocodile.
Personality[]
As a villain who's primary motivation is power, Grim is very ambitious and self-centered, and will fight anyone who gets in his way, even his own allies. That said, he can be calm and calculating, save for when things aren't going his way, then he'll lose his temper.
His only show of hesitation is during his final confrontation with Colossus, as the old captain confessed to trusting Grim like a son. While Grim was taken aback by this, he quickly recovered, thinking Colossus was trying to trick him.
