Grish is a major antagonist in the Enterprise episode "Acquisition".
He was portrayed by Matt Malloy, who also played Ned Lasky in Law & Order and Max Long in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Biography[]
Grish was a member of a Ferengi crew commanded by Ulis, who acted as pirates. The quartet managed to render Enterprise's crew unconscious with gas and then boarded the ship, with Grish coming aboard with Ulis after the others had secured the place. After collecting a number of items they saw as valuable plus the ship's females, they revived Captain Archer and tried to interrogate him about a treasure they assumed must be on board. In order to stop them leaving with the females as slaves, Archer claimed there was a vault full of gold bars on board and he'd tell them its location in return for keeping 35% of it. Grish was willing to accept the offer but Ulis insisted they look for it themselves, taking Grish and Muk with him to search and leaving Krem to load their ship.
Grish thought the medical scanner in Sickbay might be the vault and also wondered if the gold was kept in Archer's quarters, as well as trying to interrogate Archer's dog Porthos, noting his large ear size. Meanwhile, Sub-Commander T'Pol had been revived and sowed discord among the Ferengi by taking some equipment Muk had claimed personally, leading Muk to accuse Grish of stealing it.
The trio found Commander Tucker, who had escaped the gas by being in decontamination at the time. He offered to lead them to the vault, taking them on a meandering walk through the ship before identifying the hatch. They raced inside only to be stunned by T'Pol. After they had returned all the stolen items, Archer tied Ulis, Grish and Muk up in their own ship which he turned over to the put-upon Krem, saying they'd stay tied up until Krem decreed otherwise. As Krem set off in the ship, the other three began pleading with him to release them, with Grish offering to double whatever Ulis offered.
