The Guardian Monsters are the main antagonistic faction of the 2025 action-adventure game Monster Hunter Wilds. Artificial life forms created to serve the Ancient Civilisation of Wyveria, the Guardians would be forced into dormancy after Zoh Shia rebelled against its creators, destroying the capital of Wyveria and sapping Wyvern Milk for itself. In the modern day these monsters have begun to reawaken, spelling danger for all who live in their territory.

Appearances[]

The Guardian Monsters vary greatly in appearance, mostly resembling the species they're based off. However, they all share characteristics that differentiate them from their base species: firstly, they all have pitch black eyes and blue flesh which can be seen from the inside of their mouths and wounds. Secondly, they all have color schemes possessing shades of blue, cyan, grey and black. Thirdly, Guardians all have greatly reduced sexual and digestive organs, seeing as they were designed to not require them.

Biography[]

Background[]

A thousand years before the start of the game's events, the people of Wyveria managed to create a relic named the Dragontorch, a gigantic machine capable of producing infinite energy in the form of a substance called Wyvern Milk. Using this energy-rich substance, the ancient peoples would begin to alter nature as they pleased, triggering anomalous weather events known as the Inclemencies to further their own prosperity.

Powers and Abilities[]

For the most part, the Guardian monsters all possess abilities and powers that are used by their organic counterparts, possessing strength, stamina, and durability far beyond the bounds of normal animals. These traits are enhanced even further in the Guardians, allowing them to hunt down and kill targets with ease. The elemental abilities of Guardian monsters are often enhanced compared to their original species, making them not a species to be trifled with carelessly.

As constructs created to serve Wyveria, the biology of the Guardians is wholly unnatural compared to other monsters: instead of needing food and rest, the Guardians can subsist entirely off the Wyvern Milk that permeates Wyveria's ecosystem, allowing them to live indefinitely. This potent source of bioenergy allows them to regenerate wounds if given the chance and makes them completely immune to tiring out. Furthermore, Guardians can also utilise excess stores of Wyvern Milk in combat to create crystalline structures, hampering hunters and detonating with explosive force if in contact with elemental energy.
