Guillermo Barrera, also known as Brutale, is a minor antagonist in season 1 of Arrow episode "Dead to Rights".
Guillermo Barrera was a professional mercenary that was hired by China White (on Moira Queen's behalf) to take out Malcolm Merlyn. When his helicopter landed in Starling City airport, Barrera contacted China White and asked her to send him half the money for accepting the contract into his personal bank account and to transfer the rest once it had been completed. After the transfer was done Barrera thanked White and assured that Merlyn was a dead man before the Hood shot an arrow at his phone knocking it out of the man's hand.
The Hood told Barrera that he should have stayed away from Starling City and the two fight each other on top of the helipad. After a brief battle, Barrera is stabbed in the chest and killed by the vigilante before he had the chance to fulfill his contract. As the SCPD start to arrive, the Hood takes off with Barrera's phone to learn the identity of his intended target, leaving his body behind for the police. China White would later replace Barrera with Floyd Lawton to kill Merlyn.
Abilities[]
Peak of human physical condition: Barrera was in top physical condition. His reflexes enabled him to deflect arrows shot straight at him.
Expert hand-to-hand combatant/Martial artist: Barrera was a highly skilled fighter, mercenary, and martial artist. He was able to hold his own against The Hood for a short while before he was eventually killed by him.
Master knife wielder/Knife thrower: Barrera used many kinds of blades and deployed them in close combat. He was also able to throw knives at the Hood with great precision over a long distance.
Multilingualism: Bilingualism: Barrera could speak and understand English and Spanish.
Equipment[]
Knives: Barrera's choice of weapons were knives, some of which he concealed up his sleeves. He used them in his short battle against the vigilante either up close or from a far away distance.
Trivia[]
Barrera was one of the names on Oliver Queen's List, but it is never revealed why.
Ironically, the person who compiled The List (Malcolm Merlyn) was the man China White hired Barrera to assassinate.
