Great Demon King Gulver is the true power behind the Akuma Clan and the overarching antagonist of Akumaizer 3, as well as the main antagonist of its sequel series Choujin Bibyun.
He is a malevolent entity who is the master of Mezalord and Geberu. He is the one responsible for the Akuma Clan's invasion of the surface, plotting to use them to conquer the world for him. After the Akuma Clan's defeat, Gulver would make another bid to control the surface by sending out the Yokai to terrorize humanity.
He is voiced by the late Shōzō Iizuka in the final two episodes of Akumaizer 3 and by the late Gorō Naya in Choujin Bibyun, the latter of whom also voiced the Great Leader of Shocker, Devil Sai and Doctor Satan.
Biography[]
Akumaizer 3[]
Gulver secretly took control of the Akuma Clan through his followers Mezalord and Geberu and used them to invade the surface. However, a trio of demons called the "Akumaizer 3" rebelled against the warmongering turn the Akuma Clan had taken, choosing to defend humanity instead. After the Akumaizer 3 thwarted many attacks by Akuma Clan captains, Gulver tasked Mezalord and Geberu with leading an all-out attack on the surface and sent Geberu to hijack the Akumaizer 3's Ghost Ship.
Gulver delivers Geberu the Immortal Shield.
When Mezalord regenerated after yet another seeming death, Gulver instructed Mezalord to gather his forces and go to support Geberu in leading an assault on the Akumaizer 3. Following Mezalord's demise, Gulver met with Geberu and provided him with the Immortal Shield, instructing him to use it to destroy the Akumaizer 3.
Geberu promptly went on a rampage with the shield throughout the city. After Noppelar, Namenameda and Bascal failed to perform the "Akumaizer Attack" on him and were killed, the Akumaizer 3 arrived and performed the "Akumaizer Attack" to penetrate the Immortal Shield and slay Geberu. Although Geberu was killed, because of a curse Gulver had placed on the Immortal Shield, the Akumaizer 3 in turn had their bodies destroyed and souls sealed in three capsules.
Choujin Bibyun[]
Gulver would make another bid to conquer the world by releasing the Yokai and allowing them to run rampant and terrorize humans. In response, the spirits of the Akumaizer 3 empowered three humans to become the Choujins and fight against Gulver's Yokai.
