The Gumbeasts are the secondary antagonists of the family horror comedy animated film Night of the Zoopocalypse.
They are a group of zoo animals that been transformed into zombie gummi-like monsters after being bitten by Bunny Zero, who was infested by a unknown alien virus from outer space.
Physical appearances[]
The Gumbeasts were originally normal zoo animals, before they were infected by the alien virus. As Gumbeasts, their eyes glow, and their skin is gummi-like with several holes on their bodies.
Some Gumbeasts have far more gruesome appearances, such as chicks have detachable heads with sharp teeth and a large tongue to keep their heads attach, alpacas have long crooked legs, and bunnies have thin elongate arms and legs.
Biography[]
The animals live in a massive zoo and amusement park called the Colepepper Zoo, where the film's protagonist, Gracie, lives with her pack and her paranoid Grandmother, Gramma Abigale.
Later that night, a mysterious meteorite from outer space crashes into a satellite, as its enter Earth's atmosphere and crashes into the Colepepper zoo through the wolf's enclosure, the new animal's enclosure and into the "Kuddle Korner" petting zoo, where a curious bunny foolishly consumes the alien virus after mistaking it as a peanut, which encases it in a purple pod. After seeing the meteorite crashing through her enclosure, Gracie escapes from her enclosure to investigate the barn, where she found a strange pod in the barn. When she gets closer to the pod, a blue gummi-like arm merge from pod and chases after Gracie in attempt to grab her, but she managed to escape and encounter with Dan, a mountain lion that she saw being released in a new enclosure, they were both tranquilized the zookeepers and put into cages at the vet station.
Afterwards, the pod in the bran opens up and revealed that the bunny had been transformed into a gummi-like mutant zombie known as a "Gum-beast", and proceeds into infesting other animals by biting them as they leave the barn to infest almost every animal in the zoo, except Gracie, Dan alongside four animal; a red ruffed lemur named Xavier, a proboscis monkey named Felix, a capybara named Frida, and a ostrich named Ash.
The remaining uninfected animals are soon attacked by a rampaging infested gorilla named Fred, who Felix deliberately left behind to save himself, forcing the animals to spilt up as Felix, Frida, Ash, and Xavier escape out of the backroom and eventually make their way in a gift shop to barricade themselves in, while Gracie and Dan escape more Gumbeasts (including the first infested animal; Bunny Zero) under the promise that if Dan help to escort her back to her pack and enclosure, she will give him the zoo key to let him escape the zoo and return back into the wild, which Dan reluctantly accepts the bargain. Along the way, Gracie and Dan meets Poot, a young pygmy hippo and another uninfected animal, join them under the promise that they can eat her if they are hunger, however, due Gracie's kindness and motherly instincts, she let Poot join them, not wanting her to leave in a worse fate like the other infested animals. However, when they finally make it the wolf enclosure, Gracie because horrified to see that her entire pack and family have been turned into gum-beasts, as an infested Gramma Abigale attempts to turned her into a gumbeast by biting her, but Abigale's lack of teeth, she couldn't infest Gracie before Dan punches her in the face, much to Gracie anger toward Dan for hurting her grandmother, even though he saved her.
Meanwhile, the others animals in the gift shop accidentally power on the lights of the entire Colepepper Zoo, causing Gracie and Dan to be attacked by horde of Gum-beasts. As Gracie and Dan escaped from the gum-beasts, they went into a cable car and attacked Fred the Gorilla again, where they end up unintentionally decapitated the infested gorilla, though Fred still alive in his zombie-like state. The others animals in the gift shop are soon attacked a infested kangaroo and her joey after Felix inadvertently open the door and abandons them to gets the key from Gracie and Dan in order to escape the zoo. Gracie, Dan and Poot again are attacked Fred, who has been amalgamated with a giraffe into a twisted monster and has the key attached to its leg. During the fight, Dan became infested and starts to attack Gracie before they fall into a security office. Gracie avoids being infested by Dan, who falls into a sink overflowing with soap and water. Dan emerges from the sink, but he no longer a gumbeast, seemingly the water and soap is the cure to the virus. Despite being cured and saved by Gracie, a ungrateful Dan coldly rejects Gracie's idea of teaming up with the others, she angerly denounces him to be a coward, resulting them into a heated argument and Dan bitterly leaves with the key, much to Gracie's disappointment.
At the gift shop, Gracie reunite with Ash, Frida, Xavier and explain her plan to cure the Gumbeasts and tell them about Dan's abandonment, Xavier also informs Gracie about Felix's abandonment, but Gracie declare that they didn't need the self-sufficient proboscis monkey, considering Felix only cares about himself. Meanwhile, Felix steals the key from Dan, but is attacked by a swarm of infected tree frogs, only for Dan to saved him to reclaim the key.
