We won't know for sure until we get back to the village. She's a fighter though. She taught me everything I know.
~ Gummigoo to Max & Chad about their mother.

Gummigoo is the main antagonist of the The Amazing Digital Circus episode, Candy Carrier Chaos! and a minor character in the Fast Food Masquerade episode. He is a gummy bandit who wished to steal the Candy Kingdom's maple syrup for his village.

Gummigoo would end up falling out of bounds while being chased by the humans and realizing his nature as an AI, fortunately, Pomni helps him come to terms with this and invites him to join the humans, though he's quickly vaporized by Caine upon leaving his realm.

He was voiced by Jack Hawkins, who also voices his minion Chad in the same episode.

Appearance[]

Gummigoo is a yellow-fading-into-green crocodile gummy with a white underbelly, white eyes and a brown cowboy-looking hat. He has a bit of a slim build, and has rounded spines going down his back.

Like his friends, Gummigoo speaks with an Australian accent.

Personality[]

Gummigoo demonstrates his proficiency as a strategist, adeptly planning for complex heists and missions. Despite his initial antagonistic demeanor, he exhibits emotional depth; after falling outside of the map, he discovers he is "an NPC", and subsequently grapples with existential anxiety and an eagerness to understand the unknown.

Through the development of his relationship with Pomni, he evolves from a seemingly antagonistic figure to a well-intentioned individual, illustrating his capacity for growth and redemption. When he entered the circus, he said he could get used to it. He's also shown to be a deeply caring individual as he makes sure not to tell his brothers about their true natures just so they don't despair.

Biography[]

Candy Carrier Chaos[]

Having stolen the Candy Kingdom's supply of maple syrup in a Mad Max-style tanker to help their village, Pomni and her fellow humans are sent after Gummigoo and his brothers, Chad and Max, in a tanker of their own to stop him. The humans catch up to Gummigoo's tanker, where Jax throws Pomni out of the tanker in an attempt to use her as a living bridge. However, Pomni loses her grip and ends up on Gummigoo's tanker, with one of the brothers falling off after getting shot by Jax as well.

In an attempt to lose the humans, Gummigoo drives onto a patch of rocky ground only for Gangle, under threats from Jax, to continue pursuing them. When Kinger tries to rescue Pomni by throwing her an anchor, it ends up falling into a canyon which causes the two trucks to collide, sending Gummigoo and Pomni flying into a rock that clips them into the Void. Awakening, Gummigoo discovers duplicate models of himself and all of the realm's inhabitants, greatly disturbing him. Pomni arrives and as Gummigoo insists that she explain what he is to him, Pomni obliges and reveals that he and his brothers are NPCs made solely for this scenario.

As Pomni attempts to get the duplicate of the bandits' tanker moving, she notices Gummigoo sitting by himself, despairing over his true nature and how he's purposeless. Pomni comforts him, telling him that feeling useless is common back in the human world and that Max and Chad still care for Gummigoo. Gummigoo laments that he and the other NPCs are just meant to be novelties for the humans, so Pomni invites him to join her in the Circus where he can become friends with the other humans. Encouraged by Pomni's speech, Gummigoo accepts her offer and, glitching the truck's collision physics with a bunch of blocks, the two manage to launch themselves out of the Void and back into the Candy Kingdom's map.

Arriving back in the Candy Kingdom, Gummigoo and Pomni land squarely on the Fudge, squashing him and allowing them to nestle right next to the other humans and the bandits. Seeing as the duplicate tanker also has maple syrup in it, Ragatha and the other humans allow Max and Chad to bring their original tanker back home while the syrup from the duplicate tanker is returned to the Candy Kingdom.

With the adventure complete, Gummigoo joins the humans in entering the Circus, where he's amazed by what he sees. However, Caine quickly notices him and blasts him into confetti, severely shocking Pomni. Caine apologises for this action, revealing that he's not allowed to let other NPCs into the Circus for fear of mixing them up with the humans. As such, Caine goes off to drink water while Ragatha attempts to console Pomni, stating that Gummigoo may be revived for a future adventure later on, hinting at his return.

The Mystery of Mildenhall Manor[]

Pomni is worried about the possibility of another NPC becoming self-aware, now with the knowledge that she's unable to bring them back to the circus with her without any "trauma".

Fast Food Masquerade[]

He returns in Fast Food Masquerade, however, due to him being an NPC, he has completely forgotten about his relationship with Pomni (although there are implications that he may still have retained some familiarity), but still wishes her a good day at the end. He is also no longer criminal nor antagonistic since this adventure simply has him as a normal customer at Spudsy's.

Trivia[]

  • Gummigoo, along with Pomni, are so far the only two characters that have discovered the "outside of the map."
  • Similar to Pomni, Gummigoo's eyes change when under stress or panicking, albeit growing from solid white circles into ring shapes.
  • His puke texture, along with Pomni's, uses the same texture of the Metal Cap from Super Mario 64.
  • Gummigoo's name is misspelled as "Gumigoo" in the ending credits of the episode.
  • He is very first GLITCH Productions character to be Australian, with his voice actor also being an Australian like him too, and the only other Australian characters being Max and Chad from the same episode and Mud from The Gaslight District.
    • This is ironic, considering that GLITCH is an Australian company.
  • As the packaging for Gummigoo's keychain resembles that of a candy packet with the C&A logo plastered on it, it's possible that C&A may produce candy in-universe and Gummigoo is one of their candy mascots. The information on the package states that:
    • The keychain has 40g of "Tragedy", 21g of "total awareness", 15g of "self awareness", 6g of "consciousness", 11g of "existential dread", and 8g of "disillusionment", implying that the Gummigoo keychain is conscious.
    • The keychain is 50% Gummi, and 50% Goo.
    • C&A, the enigmatic organisation that is more than likely behind the creation of the simulation that The Amazing Digital Circus takes place in appears to have a slogan, reading "We Serve a life Sentence Inside a Flesh Prison!".
  • Gummigoo is briefly revived in plushie form for a promotional video in which he's supposed to duet with Pomni for Caine's musical adventure. Unfortunately, he begins glitching and explodes again, causing Pomni to scream in exasperation, with Caine and Bubble duetting with her cries.
  • According to an AMA with Gooseworx, Gummigoo is pineapple-lime flavour. This is backed up by the Gummigoo keychain, which smells like pineapple-lime.
  • According to another AMA with Gooseworx, there will be no other plotlines in the show revolving around a sentient NPC like Gummigoo, as it would be boring to do the same episode twice.
    • Despite this, Gummigoo himself returned in episode 4, though with a minor role.
  • Gummigoo's face is on the disk of the record vinyl for episode 2. It also shares his colour scheme.
