The Gurdy Species is some of the supporting antagonists and bosses inThe Binding of Isaac and its remake; The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. They are a female-exclusive race of creatures resembling Isaac covered in mounds of flesh and organs. They can be encountered in the Basement onward. 

Life Cycle

Gurglings

The Gurglings are the infants of the Gurdy species. They are barely covered by their flesh growth and their legs are visible. and can appear as enemies or bosses. 

When as bosses, they can:

• Rush towards Isaac when aligned with him in any cardinal direction, leaving behind Red Creep until it has run into a wall.
• After rushing, they will pause for a brief moment, and then spawn 0-2 Attack Flies.

As regular enemies, they:

• Have significantly less HP.
• Leave a constant trail of red creep.
• After dashing, they shoot out six blood shots instead of spawning Attack Flies.

 Gurdy Jr.  

Gurdy Jr. is the juvenile form of the Gurdy species. They're fleshy growths have grown since their time as a Gurgling. Much like their younger counterparts, they can move and be fought as bosses and regular enemies. They can:

• Spawn a Pooter.
• Can shoot tears in eight directions.
• Charge the player at high speeds, bouncing off obstacles and walls, and thus losing speed.
  • Being as far away as possible from Gurdy Jr. is advised.
  • The charge will destroy any Pooters between Jr. and the player.
  • If the player has enough knockback, or fires rapid enough, they can veer her off the intended course.
  • If the player drops a bomb in front of Gurdy Jr., she will be slowed down tremendously.
• When she is below 50% of her maximum health, she will use her charge attack continuously.

Gurdy

Gurdy is the adolescent form and the most iconic form of the Gurdy species. Her pile of flesh had grew into a mound, rendering her immobile. She often appears as a boss in various floors. During her boss fight, she will: 

•  Duck down into her body and emerge from the side facing Isaac, firing 5 blood shots in a spread-out manner.
• Spawn either a Pooter near herself, or two Attack Flies behind her.
  • Spawned attack flies are weaker than normal, with only about 3 health.
• Summon two Boils in front of her.

Mama Gurdy

Mama Gurdy is the largest and most powerful form of Gurdy. She is the adult form of the Gurdy species. Her attacks include:

• creating temporary spikes in the boss room that act as normal spikes, dealing damage unless Isaac has flight.
• Spewing a volley of orange shots toward the bottom of the room, leaving Orange Creep that slows Isaac, and doing 1 heart of damage.
• Firing 3, 4, or 7 waves of 5 spread blood shots at Isaac's location.
• Shooting a scattered blast of blood shots at Isaac.

Sometimes, Mama Gurdy will "hide" by going behind the wall before executing her spike attack, making her unable to take hits until she emerges. Once she emerges, she will always execute her vomit attack.

Trivia

• Mama Gurdy's name is a direct reference to a fan animation of the same name. 
• Gurdy Jr. was added in the Wrath of The Lamb DLC for the original The Binding of Isaac.
  • Gurdy Jr. from Wrath of the Lamb is larger than Gurdy Jr. in Rebirth.
• Edmund McMillen has confirmed that Gurdy, Gurdy Jr., and Mama Gurdy are female, but the Gurglings' gender is still speculated
  • Asumming that Every Boss in the Gurdy series is female, It is possible that the Gurglings are also all female.
• The Gurglings have a poop-themed variant (Turdlings)  and both of them spawn in groups of three during the Boss Rush.
• If the Gurglings' audio is slowed down or it gets the gigantic version of itself, the audio reveals that it is a little kid saying "Rawr!"
• Gurdy shares her name with a level from Edmund's previous game
• All of the Gurdies (except for Mama Gurdy) have a champion variant 
  • Gurdy has a Dark Green version that only summons monsters instead of attacking directly.
  • Gurdy Jr. has 2 champion variants, a blue version is smaller than her normal self during her boss and appears in groups of 2, and a gold version that is larger, has more HP, and spawns Super Pooters.
  • The Gurglings have 2 champion variants, a black version that spawns troll bombs instead of red creep when charging at Isaac, and a yellow version that spawns in groups of 3 instead of 2 and dosen't leave creep when charging.
