I regret NOTHING!
~ Gurney while running off from Bullworth gymnasium after burning it.

Gurney is a supporting antagonist in the 2006 video game Bully, serving as a major antagonist in the fifth chapter.

He is a high ranking member of the Townies clique, possibly even the third in command, and a former student at Bullworth Academy. Long before the events of the game, Gurney was expelled from there for unknown reasons, but still assists some students there along with his fellow Townies, such as Gary Smith.

He is voiced by Dave Isaacs.

Description[]

Appearance[]

Out of all the Townies, Gurney is the tallest, standing just below the massive Russell Northrop. He’s lean but muscular, with brown hair worn in a buzz cut, a trim goatee, and sharp blue eyes that give him a piercing, dangerous look. He wears a brown jacket layered over an orange T-shirt with a blue design, blue jeans with visible oil and grime stains, and blue shoes—a consistent but unkempt appearance that reflects his rebellious, rough lifestyle.

During the winter months, he adds fingerless gloves, both for warmth and to maintain mobility in fights or vandalism. When participating in dodgeball, Gurney switches to a plain orange T-shirt and khaki shorts, staying true to his loud, fiery color palette.

His slight Southern accent sets him apart from the other Townies, hinting at origins outside of Bullworth and possibly a troubled background before ending up in the industrial wastelands of Blue Skies.

Personality[]

Among the Townies, he's seen as ferociously girl-crazy, but unlike someone like Parker, Ricky, Lucky, or Casey, Gurney is remarkably good with women. His language openly uses sex as a topic of discussion, and he is one of the relatively few characters in Bully to discuss it so freely.

Even outside of mission hours, he's likely to fight for the sake of fighting, hassle weaker students, and abuse the crap out of passing people. Unlike some of the Townies, who are simply cynical or angry, Gurney is overtly cruel—he bullies Bullworth kids, for example, using violence as a form of entertainment. His cruelty is even practiced on homeless people, as he beats up Rudy the Bum Santa, showing that his violence is random. He likes to destroy, and his pyromania is not a form of rebellion—it's how he manages anger and control. To him, fire is freedom—a way of making his point and erasing what he hates.

Rough and brutal as he is, Gurney's also a wannabe musician, always seen or heard talking about forming a band or composing songs. His music sounds raw and punk-like—something of an extension of his anarchistic philosophy. And he's also a loyal member of his crew. When he runs into other Townies, he'll apologize or inquire as to whether they're okay—these tiny spasms of compassion that never extend beyond his own. His respect for Edgar Munsen, the Townie leader, is genuine; Gurney respects leadership and authority, even if he doesn't possess Edgar's self-regulation or sense of ethics.

Gurney had formerly attended Bullworth Academy, but was expelled for reasons unknown—presumably violent or destructive tendencies. His expulsion, compounded by his anger towards the school, made him one of Blue Skies' most violent and vengeful Townies.

Biography[]

Gurney is one of the Townies who used to work with Gary Smith, aiding him for his evil deeds. He was the responsible of setting fire to the Bullworth gymnasium under Gary's orders. After Jimmy put out the fire and caught Gurney in the dressing room, the latter bowls Jimmy over, saying to him "Outta my way schoolboy" and shouting "I regret nothing!" as he runs.

He later appears during the complete mayhem while accompanying Edgar Munsen stopping the riot, at Jimmy's requests. However, interestingly, Gurney is still hostile towards Jimmy and will attack him if Jimmy stick around him, although Jimmy has a 100% relationship with the Townies.
