He is portrayed by Paul Anderson, who also portrayed Sebastian Moran in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and Francis Allen in the 2012 movie The Sweeney.
Biography[]
Gisborne first appears during the third crusade, ordering his fellow crusaders against the Saracens. He serves as Robin of Loxley's commander, whom he used to have a close relationship based on mutual respect, until Robin became disillusioned by the horrors of the crusade and the sadism of his commander. The final breaking point of their relationship comes when Gisborne orders the execution of many prisoners, including a young boy. The boy's father tries to save his son, only to get his arm cut off and watching his son being murdered in front of him. Robin's failure at preventing the execution leads Gisbourne to imprisoning him and sending him injured back to England, expresses his disappointment that he can't execute Robin on the spot due to being a lord while doing so.
