Gwen Batterbie is a minor antagonist in the Netflix film, The Sea Beast.
She was voiced by Kathy Burke, who also portrayed Gladys in Crashing.
Appearance[]
Gwen Batterbie appears to be an elderly woman with long wavy hair and a pointy nose. She has thick eyebrows.
Biography[]
After failing to defeat The Red Bluster, Captain Crow and the rest of the crew from the Inevitable travel to Mukesh Island to gain assistance from the sea witch, Gwen Batterbie. Gwen begins a conversation with Crow and claims that she can make a poison to take down the greatest of sea monsters. At first, Crow didn't initially believe in her superstitions, but decides to go with Gwen's decision anyways.
After Gwen brews the poison, she would give Crow the poison. Later, Crow would sail to Rum Pepper Island and launch the poison at Red, knocking her unconscious, proving her point that the poison worked. Despite this however, Red would eventually regain consciousness and be freed by Maisie Brumble and Sarah Sharpe.
Trivia[]
- She is the only villain to never meet the main protagonists of the movie, as Jacob Holland, Maisie Brumble, and the Red Bluster were on the uncharted island around that time.
- Despite having only a few minutes of screen time, Gwen does play a big role in the plot, as she was responsible for poisoning Red in the first place, allowing Crow to finally be able to capture the sea monster.
