Gylven is the main antagonist from Fantasy Wars, Elven Legacy. She was one of the most powerful sorceresses of the Order of Watcher and the elves of Quendaylon.

Biography[]

Gylven was an elven woman who originally possessed great magical power and joined one of Quendaylon's orders, the Watchers, where she later became the most powerful sorceress. For many years, she performed special missions entrusted to her by the last dragonspeaker Teya and the Great Council, but unlike Teya, she was much more concerned with the politics and internal affairs of the nation of elves. In the spring of 634 a.M.v., he received another important mission after defeating the legendary and evil demon Farrakh for the second time and it turned out that his two most important henchmen were the first orc hexer, Ash-hoon, and the head of the elven council, Glenderin Essente, but the latter did not voluntarily but he was possessed by the dark power of the demon through his sword. The minions created a vast, dark citadel called Sumgan, means evil palce, on the ruins of the former capital of the kingdom of Leranse, Verson. Teya tasked Gylven to go to the dark stronghold of Sumgan, as the demon's magic could still be felt in the area, so she had to find out why and ensure that no creature left the area possessed by the demon's dark magic. When Gylven reached the fortress she noticed something interesting. A human mage ran out of the citadel, and some inquisitors tried to stop him, including the infamous father De Lande, but he successfully escaped from them using forbidden spells. She also informed Teya that the mage had stolen Glenderin's notes as well, and that the inquisitors would hunt him down. The dragonspeaker sent her perhaps the most experienced commander of the elves, lord Sagittel, to find the mage together, and he also had the sigil of supreme power, the True Flame. Gylven tried to prepare as many troops as possible for Sagittel, for example elven spears or skyships, but there were a lot of possessed elves and undead in the area who captured the camps of this small group of elves. Sagittel immediately launched a counterattack after his arrival and the undead were easily defeated, the zombies and spectral wolves did not pose a serious challenge despite the fact that the experienced commander arrived in the area with new recruits. However, the damned were serious opponents, but they finally managed to reach the fort Sent-Stephan, where Gilven was waiting for them, with a battle priest, Inquisitor Antoine, who prepared for another attack of the undead and the possessed. The Inquisitor stayed behind to protect Sumgan's territory while Gylven and Sagittel defeated the damned, the watcher believed that without them the undead were not as much of a threat. He then told the commander that the mage escaped using a portal, but she and the inquisitors both knew where he was going, and De Lande was on his trail and the events that happened ten hours ago were all headed in the direction of the town of Nevil. She also said that they could travel faster through two paths, one that would lead them through an land of hieves, robbers, and murderers, and the other through an area with even more undead and damned. She entrusted the decision to Sagittel, who was happy that they understood each other and that he was in command, yet he was a little worried and suspicious.

The commander thought that the watcher was hiding something from him and was not being completely honest with him, which could have consequences later, and her behavior was also cold, but for now he was focused on the campaign. Sagittel didn't want to break his promise to Teya and wanted to continue following the path of diplomacy, so he didn't want to fight against people, but wanted to go on the path where the undead and the damned were. But further progress was hindered by a wall, about which Gylven told everything, but without telling Saggitel beforehand, who was surprised that she did not tell him everything again in time. She said that she was involved in the construction of this wall because the Inquisition believed that this protection would keep Farrakh's minions and monsters away from the areas of humans that had not yet been reached by war and destruction, but the watcher also said, that the building has a weak point. She placed a spell on a part of the wall that is activated when a much stronger magical power comes near it, so the resulting mystical power destroys the wall. However, for this, the person who had this power had to go to the wall and stay there for a while, and that person was Sagittel, as he carried the True Flame, which was more powerful than the spell on the wall. Getting to the wall wasn't easy though, as there were many undead and the damned, along with other monsters such as ogres and golems. Not far from the wall, Sagittelt best soldier, Erestor and his warriors found a dragon skeleton containing an artifact, the False Prey. Gylven believed that a human had tried to seal away the dragon's fury in the artifact, but had failed because instead it was drawn to the area and to him by the fury of others. The elves, on the other hand, quickly reached the wall, where Sagittel used the True Flame and for a while nothing happened, but suddenly the wall collapsed. However, the progress was blocked by some dwarven artillery, which tried to keep the commander away, but in the end they were destroyed, and the elves got through. The commander was worried about what would happen if the undead or the damned got through to other areas due to the destroyed wall, Gylven didn't really care because he thought that if he left some warriors behind there would be no problem, but Sagittel rejected this and instead sent a message he wanted to Teya that they destroyed the wall, but for the victory of the elves and the forces of good.

Sagittel was worried that the watcher was growing cold and merciless, since she would so easily sacrifice the humans after the wall was destroyed, but the commander was more focused on the campaign. Gylven told him that they have now overtaken father De Lande and are ahead of the Inquisition and now they just have to find the mage who was hiding in the village of Nevill. They met the inhabitants, who were quite hostile and their leader, Sir Levie, who told them that the mage sought by the elves had attacked them and burned many of their houses, and the people were angry. Gylven was not interested in this, she wanted answers, but when she wanted to ask, a peasant threw a stone at her, which she threw back into Sir Levie's face with her magical power, who collapsed bleeding. The inhabitants thought he was dead, so one of them attacked the elves with a pitchfork, but Sagittel fought him back with his magical bow and prepared to fight. The watcher believed that she would have solved the situation on her own, but the commander now knew that they had no other choice and had to reach their goal by force, but he ordered his soldiers to kill anyone, only in self-defense and not to capture villages or settlements. Sir Levie was alive, and Gylven wanted to know what happened to the mage from his and an angry peasant's mind. She found out that some angry inhabitians wanted to personally capture the mage, who was heading south towards the castle of the local lord, but he managed to escape using his magical powers and apparently many frogs appeared in the swamp. The elves advanced rapidly and the number of dead was increasing, until they were suddenly stopped by a sergeant who was the commander of the warriors of count De Kerr and wanted to know why the elves were coming to their land with weapons. Gylven then addressed him and warned him to speak to them more politely and not to give them orders, without even telling them his name, and also told him that they had better teach the peasants to pacific ways, because they had suddenly attacked them in the village of Nevill. The sergeant was a bit surprised and said that the matter would be investigated, but warned them again to hand over their weapons and for the two leaders to follow him, and for the other elf warriors to stay where they were, but Sagittel decided they had waited enough and would go on with their strength. The sergeant then went back to the town of Maleckorn, and his soldiers launched a counterattack against the elves, but they were quickly defeated, and then battles broke out around the city, which the humans lost in a short time. After the sergeant was dead and the town was taken, Sagittel was happy with the victory, but he felt regret and sadness because the humans had attacked first, but he felt sorry for them that so many had to die. Gylven then told him that he had do nothing wrong, for it was self-defense, just as in the old days, when the commander had defended the forests of Quendaylon from the humans, and that she too had heard of his legendary stories.

After that, they headed to the southern area of Leranse, which was still occupied by goblins, orcs, and trolls, but Gylven could no longer sense the mage's presence as it was obscured by the aura of a powerful orc hexer. Sagittel believed that by capturing an orc settlement, they would learn more about the enemy, so he ordered Erestor to capture the nearest village, Orgarkh. However, the two leaders did not participate in the attack, as Erestor's spies reported that they had seen a dragon-like creature not far from them, so they went to explore the cave not far from them. In front of the cave were trolls and goblins, which they defeated in a short time, and then suddenly smell a foul smell. The greenskins fed corpses to the wild dragon, which was easily tamed by Sagittel, so that the monster was now fighting on their side. Then they went after Erestor, who successfully captured the orc village, but the greenskins launched a serious counterattack and for a while there were hard fights, but the disciplined and ruthless elves cut bloody order in the enemy's lines. A dying orc prisoner in the village said that the hexer was in his stronghold in the south and that the greenskins wanted to kill the mage along with the elves. After capturing the village, they also started a part of the area against the orc hexer, who was preparing for the siege in his fortress, and the greenskins managed to hold out for a while, but in the end, everyone except the hexer was killed by the elves. Then Gylven took the old orc hostage, who was then willing to serve her and told her what he knew. He was one of the hexers of the Furious Clan and said that the mage was heading south because there was the totem of the traitor, Ashra, which hid great power. Gylven urged Sagittel that this great power should not fall into the mage's hands, so they should proceed by the shortest possible route. One led through the kingdom of Derenhalle, and the other through the canyon of the Three Peaks, but the hexer was unsure of that path, as disobedient goblins and trolls lived there, and ogres were also seen in the area. Sagittel was a little uneasy about having to meet humans again, but Gylven reassured him that this was not certain, as the path leading to the canyon was more pleasant for her.

In the summer of 634 a.M.v., after that, Gylven slowly began to reveal some things to Sagittel, so the trust between them was restored for a while. She once made a discovery of her own, a few years ago she found some ruins that were the remains of the temple of the Father of Stars, and there were indeed ogres in the area, but they were not the main problem, but a blockade in the mountains, but she could do this to solve the problem. Sagittel ordered Erestor to send two teams of scouts, one to the area of Derenhalle and the other to the temple ruins. Only those who went to the ruins in the canyon with the skyships returned and the hexer told the truth, the way forward was indeed blocked. The other team didn't return, because they were captured, and Sagittel didn't want to disappoint Teya, because he promised that he would try to be diplomatic with the humans, but he could wait less and less to see what would happen and he didn't want to let his people down, so he led his army to where the incident happened and decided not to continue through the canyon. Sergeant Tonngrim, several generals and an eagle were already waiting for the elves not far from the village of Keinwerd. The sergeant told that the prisoners are in the prison in the castle of Sir Sadrick, where the lord of the castle invites them as guests, and at the same time they are waiting for a messenger from Leranse because they want to investigate the incidents that happened at the village of Nevill. Sagittel then nervously said that they had killed in self-defense and that the inhabitants had attacked them, but then the situation changed. The sergeant wanted them to come with him and show no resistance and then wait in the castle until the Peer Council convenes, but then Gylven tried to convince him to talk to his lord, to release the prisoners and let the elves cross the area, because they have to hurry. However, he was loyal to his lord and had orders from him, and then he asked the elves to come with him because he did not want to fight unnecessarily, but then Sagittel and his soldiers saw that there was no other way and attacked the soldiers of Derenhalle. Gylven helped the others with her magical power, the generals and eagles were killed on the spot, and then they decided to accept the lord's invitation, but not all of them were guests, but all of them were enemies. As they approached the direction of the castle, Gylven began to feel something and realized that the lord had lied to them, because he also hired three mages who attacked the elves with magical attacks from different cities, but they were successfully destroyed by the skyships and dragons. They captured almost the entire area of the castle, killed Sergeant Tonngrim and all the soldiers in the siege, and then found Sir Sadrick. The lord of the castle was furious, but the elves became much more tense when Erestor found the prisoners tortured and one of them, Kearnore, died of his wounds. Sagittel ordered him to lock the lying enemy in the same cell where the prisoners were and throw the key in the ditch, after which they moved on.

An important part of Gylven's plan followed, as they found the place for which they needed the hexer's help. This land was sought by the elves for a very long time, but was finally found by the orcs, who were later driven out by the humans, and for a while it was completely uninhabited until a tribe of greenskins, theclan of the Furious, invaded and conquered the area. Here was the totem of Ashgra, where the last Dayaran was buried and it had very serious magical power, which almost wiped out the elves as well. Sagittel then realized that his mission was more important than he thought, because the orc hexers couldn't use the totem's full power, but a mage already could and that's why they had to find the totem anyway, but he didn't think that Gylven could either for this. However, the road was not easy, as there were many mountains in these lands, so they could only move more slowly, and they also had to count on the attacks of the goblins and orcs of the Furious clan, while their hexers tried to stop the enemy with curses or magical attacks. However, the greenskins were killed one after the other by the elves, who captured their villages and castles in the way, and then they arrived at a valley where several roads led, but each was blocked by a gate. The hexer had already asked Gylven to let him go, but she said she would only do so if he led them to the totem, but they needed him even more than that, as the hexer was the only one who could open the main gate to the totem. When the old hexer needed time, the other gates opened and the greenskins launched a counterattack, and behind the main gate battle trolls waited to attack the enemy, but the elves killed everyone in bloody battles, and the skyships and dragons finished off all the furious hexers. He then led Sagittel and Gylven to the totem and asked them to really release him now. Gylven then told him to do him one more service, then stabbed the old hexer in the neck with her sharp staff, and performed ritual magic with his blood. The orc died from the injury while the watcher absorbed the great power in the totem, then it completely disappeared, and a purple-red colored magical seal appeared on her right hand. That way, neither the humans nor the orcs could gain this power, which nearly eliminated the elven race, and Sagittel believed that the mission was accomplished and they could return home, but Gylven said that they were not done yet. The watcher said that this is not their final goal, because the mage they were chasing was captured by the Inquisition and the inquisitors will never know what he knows, but the mage will break despite his silence, so they must find him and find him. to obtain, even by force. The commander was a little tensed that she lied to him, who told him that she did it because his aim was the mage, and she didn't want him to be another traitor to the elves and she didn't know how he would choose, so she didn't want to leave him a choice. After this, Sagittel wondered if there was anything else he should know about, and Gylven told him that the mage had stolen a huge artifact from Sumgan, the Book of Essentil, which contained Dayaran spell, and thats he had now eliminated the most dangerous threat, but she thought there would be a new traitor as long as the book existed. The commander was then a little shocked that Glenderin had taken this from the storehouse of the elven Council and what he really wanted to become, then he decided that the book must be destroyed, and Gylven volunteered to do it herself, but her goal was really different and more she didn't tell him a few other things.

Mistrust grew again between the two elves, as Gylven began to change more and more openly, she became more and more callous, impudent and arrogant, Sagittel was a little surprised that she had led and deceived him so much, and also felt more and more that she was only using them, but he actually liked it. He sympathized with the watcher, that she does not treat him as a symbol of the greatness of the Ancients, and that she does not accept fate, but follows her own path. The elves headed east to reach the territory of the kingdom of Parsa and find the Inquisition's main fortress, Sincerus, and the earliest they could get there was through the mountains. The map they used was from the time before the Exodus took place and it also marked the kingdom of Wallbourne, which was once inhabited by dwarves. The commander believed that if there were any dwarves left there, they had become wilder after the last four thousand years, so fights were to be expected. Erestor reported that there were two ways they could go, one through the valley and the other a detour that was less guarded. Since the elves wanted to get through as soon as possible, you chose the detour, but when they left their camp, a dwarven thane spoke loudly to them. He warned them that they had been serving the Law for fifty generations and that they should leave or they would die and their bones would lie in the Hall of Vengeance, but the elves were not afraid, but continued on their way until a great pile of ice fell on some of them in the from the sky. Gylven felt that this magical power was great and unusual, then she realized that the dwarves could launch magical attacks against them from their sanctuaries, but these places were very fragile, because anyone could destroy the altar, thus removing the magic of the dwarves. The elves were able to advance quickly, as the defense was weak and finally they found the sanctuaries of Anvil and Hammer, in which they broke the altars and this time Gylven told the truth, the dwarves could no longer use the magic of their ancestors. After that, only the three-part castle of Naidorf stood in their way, but Sagittel saw a dwarven mobile stronghold, which he definitely wanted to acquire, as it would be a useful weapon on their side. The dwarves were well prepared for the attack, and they also received reinforcements from the fortress of Izdenbourne, but they suffered a huge defeat, and Sagittel obtained the striking weapon, and after capturing Naidorf, they continued on their way.

In the autumn of 634 a.M.v., after defeating the dwarves of Wallbourne, the elves were free to enter lands of the Inquisition and the kingdom of Parsa, but Sagittel felt the power of Gylven more and more He felt like he was starting to get younger, he felt anger and the joy of life at the same time, but at the same time he had a deep hatred for the Traitor, for taking it from the elves and locking it in the totem. However, he didn't know that the inquisitors knew a few things about his companion that he didn't and that there would be consequences. The elves arrived in the southwestern part of the kingdom of Parsa, where Father De Lande and some of his warrior priests were already waiting for them, and he ordered them to stop. Sagittel was a little nervous, but Gylven reassured him, she believed that the father had a good reason for behaving like this. De Lande then said that they had captured the mage, who was being chased and he hadn't told everything yet, but they had learned a few interesting things from him and Sagittel was also a little surprised when it turned out that Gylven had lied to him again. The mage was a former talented student of Alfred Brennok, Master Maverick who became Gylven's student and that what he stole was not the book of Essentil. He also said that he had already spoken with Gran Inquisitor Dexter and Lady Teya and that they knew about the things they had done in Leranse and Derenhalle and that he should take the elves into custody. He and his battle priests then used holy magic and warned the elves that their magical powers would not work against them, but Gylven then showed part of her true face. She began to act haughty and condescending, believing that these people could not stop her, then she raised her right hand, on which was the seal of the totem and the holy magic of the inquisitors disappeared in an instant. At the same time, she also caused an earthquake in the fortress of Sincerus where she destroyed almost everything and sacrificed Maverick as well. The inquisitors and the father fled, but Sagittel and the others did not pursue them yet because he wanted an explanation from Gylven. At this, Gylven told him that she first knew of the book when he saw it on a list of dangerous artifacts stored in the fortress and monastery of Sincerus. She also said that she didn't trust humans and that they wouldn't be able to use it, and she didn't tell Teya about it because she thought the lady would be afraid of this power, or she wouldn't use it, or the Grand Inquisitor would send her a copy of it. She also said that she had been to Sumgan where she had found Glenderin's notes, which revealed that he had also been looking for the book and its power, and even knew of the totem's existence because he had marked its location on a map. She tried to talk to him, but he was unsuccessful and then she understood that he would need an army for his goals, such as obtaining the book of Essentil from the fortress of Sincerus, and she also said that Maverick's role was merely to show the way to the elves. She said that he would find the rest of the explanation in the book, which Sagittel was already curious about it, and also revealed that De Lande had given her the list of the dangerous artifacts, but then they realized that they had to hurry. The father with his priests was already on his way to reach the castle of Aquilen to leave the area with his eagles and he had the only key to the depo of Sincerus where the artifacts were kept. The elves then set out to clash with the forces of the Inquisition, who had a large number of disciplined soldiers and knights. However, the attackers moved quickly, the skyships and dragons attacked father De Lande and his priests, but the father was finally killed by Gylven with her magical power and Erestor took the key from the dying father. The elves attacked from two directions, a smaller group broke forward and captured the castle of Aquilen in addition to several villages, while the larger army led by Sagittel marched in the direction of Sincerus and killed the soldiers and knights one after the other. After the two groups united, together they launched an all-out assault on the last line of defense, the multi-part town of Tennas. At the cost of bloody battles, the elves successfully broke through and killed almost everyone, and after receiving the key, Gylven entered the depo and obtained the book of Essentil. But she lied again, because she didn't give it to Sagittel or destroy the artifact, but absorbed all its power and now became so powerful that even the strongest magic users seemed smaller next to her. She then said that this was the explanation and now she could cast the spell that changed the world forever and restore the elves' full magical power by revive the Great Tree. Sagittel was shocked that the watcher became so strong, even she himself felt her power and for the sake of his people's survival and a better future, he decided to help her and was ready to make as many sacrifices as necessary for success.

After that, Gylven led Saggitel down a very dark path, as the power of Essentil came at a price and required thousands of souls, so the commander decided that he and his soldiers would kill as many as necessary. They traveled to the eastern part of the kingdom of Parsa, where he, Gylven, Erestor and the other elves killed the entire population of the villages of Alfendo, Alorate, Brazim, Esphito, Ruttero and Viando, as well as the entire population of the castle of Maartos El Grande, many soldiers and after gathering thousands of souls, Gylven felt that she had now gathered enough power to carry out the final phase of her plan.

Sagittel and Gylven with their army finally found the land where the Great Tree was in the far south and they just had to reach it. However, then Teya appeared and asked Sagittel to stop, but he was completely enthusiastic that his dream would finally come true, that he could help his people and Illis and give his people back the real happy life that was taken away so long ago. However, Teya knew the truth, that the spell they had could cause their destruction and that Gylven could not reach the tree, because if she absorbed its power, she would be practically invincible. She then disappeared and Sagittel despaired of disappointing her, but Gylven warned him that portals were opening through which Teya would bring dragons and soldiers, so these were very quickly closed by Erestor and his soldiers. However, the clash still took place, because they met Illair and Dwarnrock's army near an old elven castle, but Sagittel was partly happy, because Illair was not only one of the most talented swordsmen, but also one of his own students. However, the swordsman wanted to arrest them both and became angry when his master believed that it was just a misunderstanding, as he did not understand what the misunderstanding was about burning and destroying several towns and villages, killing thousands of people, including innocents Gylven only said that great power requires great sacrifices, and Illair then saw that the watcher was a power-hungry, evil manipulator and ordered their arrest, but Sagittel decided to do what he feared for the sake of the future. The three armies clashed with each other, a cruel and bloody massacre began, from which the traitors finally emerged victorious, and Sagittel and Gylven killed Illair and Dwarnrock and continued towards the Tree. There was another old castle not far from the Tree, where Teya wanted to stop them and the Flame Guards came to her aid, but everyone died except the elf woman. Teya tried to convince Gylven that what she was doing would only bring destruction upon them because Dayaran's spell was created through the blackest revenge and envy and that she would not be able to resist this evil power. The watcher, on the other hand, was completely intoxicated by the power she had acquired and was able to control perfectly, called her opponent a coward and said that if her life was the price of the spell, she would happily hand it over. Teya, on the other hand, said that Dayaran's spell will spoil the very essence of magicitself and if she succeeds, a lot of people will die, especially elves and dragons, or even the whole of Illis may perish and become a world bereft of all life. Teya asked Sagittel to help her, but he was very uncertain because he had seen too much darkness, killed too much and changed too much and trusted Gylven for the future of his people. Gylven then felt the time had come and stepped through the portal that led her to the Tree, but Teya followed as she pleaded with Sagittel to make the right decision. After that, both of them used their magical powers and neither of them could defeat the other until Sagittel also arrived and made his decision, then he shot Gylven with his magical bow and she collapsed dead. Teya then banished the power of the book of Essentil and the Totem from her, so they finally managed to stop the treacherous watcher, so that there was nothing left of the enormous dark power she had stolen.
