HIM (カレ Kare) is the main antagonist of the anime series Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z. He is the original monster and the main responsible (both directly and indirectly) of all the events of the series. His goal is to recover all his power and kill all the inhabitants of Tokyo City (New Townsville in English).

He was voiced by Ryūsei Nakao in Japanese and Mark Oliver in English.

Biography[]

Back in the Edo period, HIM already terrorized humans and was known for creating monsters with his black particles. But this changed when a scientist named Kennai Higarai (Professor Pithium in English), created the Chemical X and used it to gave powers to three normal girls that will eventually turn in the Oedo Chaki Chaki Girls (GoodEnough Girls in English), who eventually defeated the demon by knocking him and making him fall in the snow, since cold is his weakpoint. HIM was eventually sealed in a coffin that would be locked in a mansion and most of his power was taken with a lightning box invented by Kennai and sealed in a trunk that would be thrown into the sea.

In 2006 the trunk generated a sudden climate change throughout the world, and Ken Kitazawa fired several beams of the newly created Chemical Z at the iceberg formed in Tokyo City. Which reversed climate change but unleashed the power of HIM in the form of black lights (Black Z Rays in English), creating a large number of monsters throughout the city, including Mojo Jojo and other villains of the original series. One of this black lights crashed into the mansion where HIM was sealed, awakening from its slumber sometime after the incident. With the help of a Mummy Monster, HIM steals part of the white energy of the Powerpuff Girls Z and breals his seal, but he had to leave the city because it was still winter and the cold weakened him. Before leaving, HIM releases his black particles to create new monsters at will and spy their new enemies.

After the girls discovers the truth of HIM's past, they have a brief meeting when HIM try to collect its black particles but has to leave again since he cannot cope with high temperatures. After causing more trouble in the city and trying to manipulate the other monsters. HIM finally returns to Tokyo City when spring arrives and steals the Chemical Z in Professor's lab, then he has his first serious fight with the girls but loses after he accidentally teaches them new movements with their weapons. To carry out his final plan, HIM decides to take back his blacklights from the monsters that were created on the day of the iceberg, but fails taking the ones of the monsters that they had more confrontations with the girls. So him manipulates them after leading an alliance with them to to make them surrender their lights of their own "free will". With the success of this plan, HIM takes Mount Fuji to erupt and destroy the city, HIM almost defeats the Powerpuff Girls Z, but they take the decision of giving their white lights to charge a full-powered shot that seals HIM's power and conscience and sends it to the space, where he will never return, and his original body was taken and used by Mojo Jojo as lab rat.

Despite HIM's defeat, his legacy lived on the monsters that were created from his power and continued to face the Powerpuff Girls Z throughout their lives.
