Hagath was a character introduced in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Business as Usual".
He was portrayed by Steven Berkoff.
By the mid 24th century, Hagath was one of the most prominent weapons dealers in the Alpha Quadrant. Hagath had a large number of associates, and treated them like family. However Hagath had a low tolerance for failure and would often kill any of his associates who disappointed him.
He supplied weapons to the Bajoran resistance against the Cardassians occupying their homeworld. In repayment for his help, Hagath was permitted to operate without interference in the Bajoran system.
Hagath would later begin working extensively with Quark's cousin Gaila in selling weapons throughout the Alpha Quadrant.
Working with Quark, the pair contacted the Regent of Palamar about supplying a biogenic weapon to him which would enable the Regent to kill the forces arrayed against him, as well as many millions of civilians. This weapon would have killed over 28 million people. Quark had a crisis of conscience and arranged for the Regent and the opposition leader Nassuc, causing the deal to fall through and a fight to break out. The Regent was killed by Nassuc's forces, while Hagath and Gailia barely escaped with their lives. Hagath died by 2376.
