Halna Midi Meren is the main antagonist of Magical Girl Raising Project: White and the overarching antagonist of Magical Girl Raising Project: Red.
Halna is a Mage who serves as the headmistress of Umemizaki Middle School and the true founder of the Magical Girl Class (2-F) for Umemizaki's Magical Girls including Snow White. Initially to be just a major character in Black, it is later revealed in White that she's the abductor of several of Umemizaki's 2-F magical girls including Tetty Goodgripp, Kumi-Kumi, Classical Lillian, Diko Narakunoin and Mephis Pheles, fusing them into clones of homunculi for her purposes.
Halna has planned to kidnap Snow White (after learning that Snow White did not live up to the Magical Girl Hunter title) and transplant her mind into a homunculus clone. She is later revealed to be the descendant of Chêne・Osk・Baal・Mel, one of the original Three Sages.
Appearance[]
She is described as her looks being quite remarkable. She has the characteristics of a Mage, like pointed ears and heterochromatic eyes, but she also has a softness to her looks that strikes the ideal balance. According to Snow White, she wears spectacles and has her hair twisted back into a tight bun.
Although she first appears in wizard robes, she also switches to more comfortable, less restrictive attire as necessary, including office attire.
Personality[]
Halna is a rigorous lady with high expectations who serves as the headmistress of the esteemed Umemizaki Middle School. She is not afraid to use her authority and expects her students to respect her. She also appears to be too harsh with pupils she doesn't like while favoring those who may promote the school's reputation.
However, underneath her icy, strict façade, Halna is deeply responsible and regrets many of her perceived personal shortcomings. She has a strong animosity against Cranberry that even Snow White finds excessive because she oversaw the Cranberry Investigation after Unmarked (Arc 1). In a similar vein, she is deeply grieved whenever anything similar happens. Halna's strictness stems from her belief that her present role offers her the opportunity to mentor upcoming Magical Girls in the proper direction. Despite her strictness and her rough attitude in front of her students, Halna is shown to have a soft side for Class 2-F, when she allows them to attend Umemizaki's school festival (much to the joy of China Mizuta/Pshuke Prains), should they follow the rules themselves.
Eventually in White, it becomes clear that Halna has become nearly insane due to her feeling of obligation. She has no problem killing her students and transplanting their brains into homunculus clones, utilizing them as her own personal army, because she views them as nothing more than terrorists, mercenaries, and criminals. It may be argued that she is equally sociopathic as the Magical Girls she despises because she does not even appear to comprehend the immorality of her behavior. She still has some morals, though, since she feels it would be "blasphemy" to transform her fellow Mage Calkoro Culumff into a homunculus.
Abilities[]
Like other Mages, Halna has no unique magical ability. She is however capable of using spells to put herself on a level similar to magical girls. To mention a few, she has performed a spell that increases her running speed, fortifies her robe, and rewards magical females who battle beside her.
