The Hammer Shadow is a hammer-themed Shadow Monster and a minor antagonist in Ressha Sentai ToQger, appearing as the antagonist in Episode 15 and Episode 16.
He was voiced by Chō, who previously voiced Shitari of the Bones from Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, Debo Yanasanta from Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger and later voiced Yokai Ungaikyo from Shuriken Sentai Ninninger.
Biography[]
Hammer Shadow' is a Shadow Creep armed with the Pulverizing Big Hammer, who can use his Fantasy Mini Hammer to bring one's deepest desire to life and smash the manifestation to destroy his victims's happiness.
He first offers to rid Miss Gritta of her desire for General Schwarz, but she stops him. Emperor of Darkness Z then orders Gritta to use his talent to gather darkness. He affects Mio, bringing her imaginary friend Maichy to life. He is surprised that Maichy's destruction brings forth light from Mio, who soundly thrashes him. He was saved from defeat by General Schwarz, who requests his service once more.
Schwarz has him use his powers to turn his Kuliner into a place where children can live out fantasies before Hammer Shadow harvests their darkness. The ToQgers manage to free the children before defeating Hammer Shadow with a One Million Paper Fan Smack variation of the Rainbow Rush (which is a huge fan smacking Hammer Shadow a million times) before destroying Hammer Shadow with Cho-ToQ-Oh.
Hammer Shadow was later part of a group of revived Shadow Monsters who fought the ToQgers and Kyoryugers. He ends up being destroyed again alongside the other revived Shadow Monsters by the two Sentai Teams' (bar their Reds) combined finishers, the Imagination Brave Finish.
Personality[]
This Shadow Monster was heavily similar to other Shadow Kajins, being highly destructive, misanthropic, arrogant and contemptive towards humanity and desiring to get rid of the human race and grant the Earth to the Shadow Line species. However, while, overall, he has no true redeeming qualities, but he was shown to be highly comedic and incompetent in his mission and was shown to be highly clumsy and comical monster, serving mostly as cokic relief of the Episodes. Also, he was shown to be quite loyal to Baron Nero, Madame Noir and General Schwartz, loyally following their orders, but that's still debatable if this was a true genuine loyalty.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Superhuman Physical Strength: He possesses inhuman levs of physical strength, easily surpassing the ordinary humans, but is still no match for the Toqgers and their full team, albeit he was still powerful enough to stand against multi-colored heroes.
- Immortality: He is also immortal, like all of Shadow Line members, and could live for thousands of years. He could only be killed in battle.
- Energy Projection: He is able to project a powerful energy beams from his hands, which were powerful enough to crush and temporarily demoralize the Toqgers.
- Durability: He is also highly durable and was able to survive from multiple hits and strikes from the Toqgers. It took the full arsenal of the multi-colored heroes to take down Hammer Shadow.
- Fighting Mastery: He was shown to be quite a capable fighter with his hammer weapons.
- Speed: Despite his bulky appearance he was shown to be quite fast in battle.
- Agility: Hammer Shadow was also highly agile in all of his fights with the Rangers.

- Hammer Shadow's design is similar to Bombs from 1998 TV series called Seijuu Sentai Gingaman.
