Hank Shaw is an overarching antagonist of the 2022 video game Horizon Forbidden West. He served as the Beta for GAIA's subordinate function HADES, with Travis Tate, during the events of the Faro Plague. Despite being a minor character, Shaw catalyzed most of Ted Faro's past actions, including the Omega Clearance's creation and the destruction of the APOLLO Archive.
Shaw was revealed to have betrayed the project twice, with the first instance being with him coerced by Faro to install a backdoor, in order for him to gain complete access to the system, and with the second being attempting to steal GAIA and give it to Far Zenith. However, his second plan was foiled by Tate and Sobeck, whom he was noise-tortured by the former.
Shaw was voiced by Jordan Renzo.
Personality[]
Judging from the datapoints with Shaw on it, he was considered to be traitorous and disloyal, having betrayed the trust of Zero Dawn and later his friend Travis Tate when his second caper of stealing GAIA miserably failed, causing him to be completely fearful.
However, as shown in the Intel Update datapoint, Shaw was easily moved by threats, such as when Faro coerced him easily with threat to install the Omega Clearance, which he willingly did so.
Background[]
Shaw betrayed the project twice when he was a contributor to Project Zero Dawn. The first was completed under Ted Faro's direction, giving Faro complete control over the project by having Omega clearance installed within the system.
The second was for Far Zenith: Shaw would be given a seat on the Odyssey colonial ship and be allowed to flee the dying Earth in return for aiding them in stealing a copy of GAIA. Far Zenith really had plans to back out of the agreement as soon as they received their copy of GAIA.
Tate later uncovered Shaw's second treachery, who subjected Shaw to noise torture and made him give Far Zenith a computer virus as a substitute.
Abilities[]
Shaw was a hacker and a skilled programmer, who was proficient in installing a backdoor, which was later known as the Omega Clearance, which gave Faro the advantage to sabotage the project in the shadows.
