Hannibal Chau is a minor antagonist in the Pacific Rim franchise. He is a wealthy Kaiju organ trafficker who wants to sell his products on the black market.

He was played by Ron Perlmen

History[]

Pacific Rim[]

He is first seen in the bone slums of Hong Kong, in which he speaks to Newton who wishes a kaiju brain and threatens him for possibly wasting his time, they later go outside and Chau explains that the brain can and should not be obtained due to its lethal elements only for Newton to reveal that he already drifted with one, Chau is outraged by this and states that the kaiju will now come for him as a result of the drifting.

He later sends his team into the corpse of a dead kaiju so they extract organs, but the team is killed by a baby kaiju who then eats Chau and spits out his golden shoe, Chau would actually survive but would never find the shoe and even gained a disease from the Kaiju Blood.

Pacific Rim: Aftermath[]

He attempts to clone and create Kaiju with someone called Elora after his business goes dry. This causes a kaiju to rampage through the city which Chau didn't intend for.

Trivia[]

  • He was meant to appear in Pacific Rim Uprising but Ron Pearlman didn't want to appear in the film due to scheduling conflicts.
  • A viral video was made to advertise Pacific Rim, which acted as a in universe commercial for Chau's services[1].
