Green Goblin Truck from Maximum Overdrive

The Happy Toyz (Green Goblin) Truck is the primary vehicular antagonist in Stephen King's 1986 film Maximum Overdrive.

Description

The Green Goblin Truck is a black colored White-Western Star 4800 truck with a full-sized grinning Green Goblin mask adorning its front. The eyes of the mask is capable of glowing at times of action. It hauls a black trailer that said "HAPPY TOYZ - Here comes another load of fun!". The rear of the trailer features a creepy image of a clown as well. The cab has red seats and a hidden Green Goblin Jack-in-the-box toy behind red curtains in the back.

The film crew got permission from Marvel to use the Green Goblin's appearance for the mask. The mask survives under private ownership after the filming, awaiting restoration back to its fearsome appearance.

Appearance

The Green Goblin Truck first appears during the film when it enters the Dixie Boy truckstop in North Carolina. Like other objects that went to life in the world, the truck moves out of the fueling station while still fueled by cap. The truck remain static until when it slams Camp Loman into a ditch after attempting to avenge his car against another truck. After the survivors in the Dixie Boy failed to find rescue assistance, the truck begins to circle around the truckstop along with other fellow trucks, preventing anyone from entering/exiting the truckstop.

All the circling trucks including the Green Goblin truck stop moving during one day. In the same day, after the assault done by a bulldozer and the M274 Mule, the mule requests thrugh Morse code that the human survivors should fuel all vehicles to the Dixie Boy. After exhaustion, the humans realize they're enslaved by the vehicles, therefore having the protagonist Bill Robinson destroying the Mule and perform an escape out of the Dixie Boy. During the escape, the trucks tackle and rampage the abandoned truckstop in total destruction.

The Green Goblin Truck appears again at the end in the marina area when it detects Brad, who carelessly got distracted by a diamond ring from a dead woman. The truck accelerates fast to ram Brad fatally, and continues to move until when Bill launches a rocket to destroy the Green Goblin truck in flames. The survivors rejoices its destruction, feeling safe at last from the living objects and vehicles while sailing out of the coast.
