~ Burke trading racist remarks on the Klingons with Samno.

Harlan Burke is a minor antagonist in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

He was portrayed by B.J. Davis.

An enlisted member of the Federation Starfleet, by 2293 Burke was a yeoman on the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-A) under the command of Captain James T. Kirk. He was a member of the Khitomer Conspiracy, a collection of people who did not want to see the Federation and the Klingon Empire become allies.

He worked with Yeoman Samno. After Chancellor Gorkon was brought on board the Enterprise he and Samno traded racist remarks regarding the Klingons before they realized fellow conspiracy member Valeris was still in the room and heard what they said. (Additionally both Spock and the Klingons had overheard them due to their enhanced hearing). Valeris asked the two men if they had work to do, and ordered them to set about preparing to assassinate Gorkon.

Later that night, after Gorkon had returned to his ship Klingon General Chang had his cloaked bird of prey fire on Gorkon's ship Qo'noS 1 in a way that made it appear that Enterprise had fired upon Qo'noS 1. During the confusion Burke and Samno beamed aboard Qo'noS 1, which had experienced total failure of the gravity systems, wearing suits and magnetic boots. The pair located Gorkon and fatally wounded him with a phaser.

A few days later Valeris realized that Spock and the senior staff of the Enterprise would soon determine that Burke and Samno had been the assassins. Knowing that Burke would expose her and the other conspirators, she lured Burke and Samno to a corridor, where she killed them with a phaser on stun at close range. Burke's death lead to Valeris being exposed as the traitor.
