Biography[]
Injustice: Gods Among Us[]
Harleen Quinzel, no longer answering to "Harley Quinn", crosses paths with Joker in Gotham, sure he’s not the real deal—because her Joker was killed by Superman after Metropolis went down. They fight, and it hits her mid-battle: this is definitely him. She’s thrilled. She takes Joker to Arkham Asylum, where the Joker Clan hangs out—a group that worships him. Joker wastes no time taking charge, popping one of Superman’s strength-boosting pills. But soon enough, Regime soldiers, led by Hawkgirl and Nightwing, storm the place and attack. Joker holds them off while Harleen sends a distress call to Insurgency Batman. Backup arrives, and they push back the soldiers. Batman tells Harleen and her crew to lie low for a while, and he takes Joker into custody, thinking he’s too much of a threat to be loose. Later, when the Insurgency plans to save Batman from execution, Harleen is told by Batman to have the Joker Clan keep law enforcement distracted while they break into Stryker’s Island. She follows orders but secretly releases Joker from his cell, worried Batman might not be pleased. Harleen and Joker then hijack a Regime vehicle and intercept Insurgency Lex Luthor, who’s on his way to help in the battle against the Regime.
Joker demands Harleen take down Luthor and steal his suit, but she fails. Fed up, Joker fires her and tries to kill her, saying it’s the perfect "severance package." But Luthor steps in and defeats Joker. Furious and hurt, Harleen almost kills Joker but stops, convinced by Luthor that she’s moved past him. She orders the Joker Clan to stand down, recognizing Luthor as an ally and realizing Joker was never on their side. In the end, Harleen escorts Joker, at gunpoint, back to his own dimension.
Injustice 2[]
Harley’s now working with the Justice League, training with Batman and others, learning to use her old tricks for good. She’s still in the field fighting, but she’s also keeping an eye on data from Brother Eye. Harley prefers her real name, Harleen, though Batman calls her by her old nickname during a meeting. When Green Arrow and Black Canary arrive in the Batcave, she’s busy with Brother Eye but says hello. Bruce gets her to explain how Gorilla Grodd and his team plan to ship fear gas with Scarecrow’s help, and the trio are sent to stop it. Oliver asks if Bruce trusts Harley, and Bruce explains she’s changed since Joker died. At Slaughter Swamp, they spy on Scarecrow’s crew loading fear gas, but Poison Ivy ambushes them. Harley thinks Ivy’s there to help, but Ivy’s working with Scarecrow and Grodd. Heartbroken, Harley frees herself and helps Black Canary and Green Arrow. While they fight Scarecrow, Harley tries to talk Ivy into teaming up again, but Ivy refuses. After the fight, Scarecrow hits Harley with his fear gas, but she shrugs it off. He sprays her again, and she’s forced into a battle with him.
After beating him, Harley is hit by the gas again and passes out. In her dream, she’s back at the amusement park with Joker, who tries to get her to become her old self again. He tells her to kill Batman, but she refuses, saying their relationship is over. She wakes up and rushes to rejoin Black Canary and Green Arrow as Scarecrow’s crew escapes by boat. Green Arrow shoots at the boats, but Swamp Thing shows up. Harley tries to explain they’re on the same side, but he attacks. After the fight, Swamp Thing realizes she’s telling the truth and helps them defeat the rest of the goons. They head to Gorilla City, where they find Grodd addressing his gorilla army. Harley is told to stay with the jet, but she gets captured. Catwoman rescues her, and they escape together. Back in Gotham, during a meeting with Batman and Superman’s teams, Batman says Harley and Catwoman will help Cyborg fix Brother Eye. Later at Arkham Asylum, Ivy controls Harley with her toxins, calling her "my sweet Harley." Catwoman and Cyborg fight her, and she snaps out of Ivy’s control. Harley goes into shock, but Cyborg revives her with his defibrillator. They move on to the Batcave, where Harley is ordered to guard the entrance. Harley ends up in Metropolis, where Wonder Woman is about to kill Cheetah. Harley checks on Supergirl, then shoots Diana’s sword out of her hand, reminding her of Batman’s "no killing" rule and comparing Superman to Joker. Furious, Diana stabs Harley, but Supergirl saves her and uses her heat vision to seal the wound. Supergirl defeats Wonder Woman and carries Harley to safety. Harley doesn’t appear again in the game, likely recovering from her injuries as the others continue the fight against Brainiac.
Personality[]
Harley is heartbroken after Joker’s death at Superman's hands, even seeing him as a martyr, but eventually moves on and teams up with Batman’s Insurgency. She doesn’t believe that the Joker from the Prime Universe is her "Mister J" until he beats her in a fight. Their old bond shows when she recognizes him by the way he moves and fights. By this time, she’s lost her accent, but in Injustice 2, she gets it back while staying loyal to Batman. Harley finds her independence when Joker threatens to kill her in front of Lex Luthor. Torn between killing or kissing him, she chooses neither and shoves him away, breaking free from Joker’s control for good. Even when Scarecrow’s fear gas makes her see Joker again, she stands her ground and rejects him, unwilling to go back to who she was.
As a friend to Batman, Harley shows her loyalty. She’s lively, full of jokes, and cares about her friends like Supergirl—and even Poison Ivy, despite them being on opposite sides. Harley struggles with violent urges but sticks to Batman’s "no killing" rule, stopping Wonder Woman from killing Cheetah, even while admitting it’s hypocritical given her own bloody past. She acknowledges that she’s been trying to please the wrong person for too long. Her loyalty leads to her being stabbed by Wonder Woman, and Supergirl tries to save her, but after that, Harley’s fate remains unknown. Harley also has a masochistic side, asking Cyborg to shock her again with his defibrillator and even enjoying the idea of Supergirl closing her stab wound with heat vision.
