~ Harry revealing the depths of his selfishness to Veronica. |
Harry Rawlings is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Jatemme Manning) in Steve McQueen's Widows.
He was portrayed by Liam Neeson, who also played Ra's al Ghul in Batman Begins, Jimmy Conlon in Run All Night, Bad Cop in The Lego Movie, Norvirus Raccoon in The Nut Job, Phango in Khumba, High-T in Men In Black: International, Clinch Leatherwood in A Million Ways to Die in the West, and himself in Family Guy.
Biography[]
Harry is the ex-husband of Veronica (the protagonist) and a well-known bank robber. His marriage to Veronica fell apart after the death of their son, Marcus, and he numbed the grief by marrying another woman, Amanda, and having a baby with her.
He is hired by politician Jack Mulligan to rob the latter's rival, Jamal Manning (the main antagonist), and though he succeeds in this endeavor, he (apparently) dies along with his three accomplices in the process.
At the end of the film, it turns out that Harry is alive, having double-crossed and murdered his partners and faked his death. He tries to justify his actions to Veronica, saying that their marriage had died with Marcus, and he wants to start a new life. He then tries to rob and kill Veronica, but she shoots him dead instead.
Trivia[]
- Despite being one of the two main antagonists of the film, Harry's role wasn't revealed until two-thirds of the way through, and even then, he didn't reveal his true colors until the very end. Additionally, when his role was revealed, he went down rather easily.
