Shall we go on an adventure together in search of the ultimate taste?
~ Haruna Kurodate

Haruna Kurodate (黒舘ハルナ) is on & off major antagonist of the in the 2021 roleplay RPG game, Blue Archive. She is a student at Gehenna Academy and the leader of the Gourmet Research Society, which is the direct cause of the Gourmet Research Society being treated as a notorious terrorist group. She is also Hina Sorasaki's rival.

She was voiced by Azusa Tadokoro.

Personality[]

While the other members of the Gourmet Research Society are mere Jerks, Haruna has crossed the line by blowing up numerous restaurants, causing trouble for Hina, and abusing Fuuka. She has her own aesthetics about eating, and when things go against it, she has a ruthless personality that will open the store without hesitation. Because of this, Hina, who tries to keep her order, is bound to lament. She not only visits various stores, but also tastes food in various ways herself, and enjoys experiencing it through various ways rather than simply evaluating the taste.

In her relationship story, she even says that when she goes to a restaurant, she brings a bag of bombs. Perhaps because this act is famous internationally, on the contrary, if the restaurant where Haruna stopped by is not blown up, it is known as a verified restaurant. She also had an abusive, unhealthy relationship with Fuuka, but she truly considers Fuuka a friend.

Biography[]

Treaty of Eden Arc[]

Deciding that the legendary golden tuna is too good to be left as an ornament, she robs it and tries to cook it for Fuuka to taste, but she is arrested before she can get more than ten meters away by the Department of Justice and the Supplementary Classes, led by Sensei, and handed over to the Department of Emergency Medicine. Soon afterward, however, a bombing by the Hot Springs Development Department distracts the detention center's security, and they escape again, this time with the department's field catering truck and another kidnapping of Fuuka, a member of the feeding club, but while on the run, they hear the supplemental class's sordid tale and decide to help.

Akari's driving skills allow her to evade the Prefect Team and the Hot Springs Development Department's artillery fire, but just as the Supplemental Class arrives at the test site, the truck overturns and falls into the water, sinking the Supplemental Class members and giving them a thumbs-up.

Where All Miracles Begin Arc[]

When a false sanctuary appears in the place of D.U.'s Sanctum Tower, they help the feeding department procure food and work together with the supplemental class and the kaiteners' giant robot KAITEN FX Mk.0 to defeat the colorful Ferrologira. At this point, Izumi helps them out, and as the kaiteners leave, Izumi laments that seeing them makes her crave sushi, and laments that sushi can't be delivered these days because of high interest rates, and Junko tackles her, saying that interest rates have nothing to do with sushi.

Later, when S.C.H.A.L.E launches the space battleship Utnafish's ship, she wants to try space food in a zero-gravity environment, so she kidnaps Fuuka, the cook, and takes her aboard in a feeder truck. The problem is that the ship's altitude, and the limit of the Utnafish team's operation, is actually just beyond the stratosphere, so when the teacher hears the Gastronomy Research Society's theory of zero-gravity space gastronomy, he is about to say that space is neither zero-gravity nor weightlessness, but decides to keep quiet.

Then, when the Ark of Atrahasis begins to encroach on Utnafish's ship in reverse, and the False Sanctuary threatens to emerge again, the only way to stop it is to destroy the Ark's relay device, the terminal of the Sharkalishari Corridor on the lowest level, The lowest level is at a loss, as they have only five seconds to destroy the corridor 1200 meters below the enemy's defenses before the security system is destroyed and restored, but the Gastronomic Research Institute points out that Fuuka specializes in such urgent, extreme deliveries, and Fuuka drives the courier vehicle through the army of colors, just in time to destroy the corridor.

Sub Story[]

She's hunted down by the leadership as the mastermind behind the cafeteria bombing. Meanwhile, Junko finds a truffle and says she has five minutes to clean it, so she searches for a silk handkerchief to wrap it in, but Akari pulls out a pair of panties. Insisting that it's technically okay, they decide to save Izumi from being caught first so they can all enjoy the truffles. But as soon as they're done, they're caught by the Prefect Team and the truffles are confiscated.

Later, in the detention center, they try to make each other smell the truffle-wrapped underwear, claiming that it has the scent of black diamonds, and when the S.C.H.A.L.E. Sensei, who has been falsely accused of obscenity, is also in the detention center, Izumi tricks him into smelling the underwear as well, and all five of them, including Hinae-sensei, are punished for their untimely arrival.

In the Prefect Teamsub-story, the Prefect Team took Fuuka hostage and staged a sit-in against the Vanguard for not serving lemon with their karaage. In the middle of the story, Iori incited the Prefect Team troops with "Karaage should be served with lemon or not," leading to a civil war between the two sides.

Head Prefect Hina's Summer Break Event Story[]

Arrives with members of the Gastronomy Department. When he hears about the all-out war between the Sharp Helmets and the messy Skeban, she comes to the Arava Coast to sell military corn to troublemakers and onlookers. she claims that he was trying to do research on "Why is military corn delicious on a summer beach?" but failed because there were no people there, so she fights with Prefect Team to show that she is serious about gastronomy. But even without Hina, they can't win because they have a sensei, so they retreat.

Then, when the troublemakers decide to unite to defeat Prefect Team, they come out to sell corn again. He sets up a corn stall in the middle of the street and makes a mess by fighting the advancing Onsen Development Department, but Hina, who understands the situation, joins in and gives up and actually retreats.

Get, Set, Go! Event Story[]

As they talk while eating corn at a street vendor, Hasumi asks if corn is high in calories, but he says that she should be worried about losing weight because it will be lost quickly if she exercises, and he says, "She has a body that doesn't gain weight, and she can't stand to feel guilty about eating." This irritates her.

A Game Before the New Year's Feast Event Story[]

While eating at a restaurant called Suzume-zheng at the end of the year, he finds it to be a decent, if not perfect, restaurant, but when he hears that the owner is closing the restaurant after this meal, he sets out to save it.

First, she semi-forcibly kidnaps Fuuka, who has excellent cooking skills, and Sensei, who has good taste, and, following Sensei's suggestion that she listen to the owner's side of the story, she finds out that he refused to franchise Nyaomoto Foods out of his own free will, and that he is under external pressure from a group of thugs called the Gourmet Helmets, and that Nyaomoto Foods is behind it, so she goes to the front door of Nyaomoto Foods and demands that the owner come out and complain about the shooting and bombing.

Nyaomoto Kahn, the chairman of Nyaofoods, is fed up with the Gastronomy Research Society and tries to negotiate a settlement with Haruna, but between Nyaomoto's desire to cut costs and Haruna's infidelity, the negotiations stall, and they end up making an oshichi cooking bet to take over Suzume Town.

However, since the Gastronomy Club is not a cooking club, this is done without any input from Fuuka, who is the one who should be cooking, and eventually Fuuka is exhausted from cooking a large meal for 400 people and leaves for a while. Harunawa-sensei realizes that the cause of Fuuka's breakdown is not physical but mental, so he apologizes to Fuuka, who is resting on the roof of Gehenna's cafeteria, and tells Fuuka, who is worried that his actions will affect the many people employed by Niao Foods, that if he doesn't act, Suzume-cho will lose everything, and that he doesn't want the people of the shopping district to lose their gourmet food.

Later, when Fuuka, Juri, and the Gastronomic Research Society team up to defeat Nyaofood in an oshichi wager, an enraged Chairman Nyaomoto uses force, eventually burning down Nyaofood and the Gastronomic Helmets.

Fuuka then uses the leftover ingredients to make a New Year's feast for everyone, and while it would be nice to have a happy ending with everyone ringing in the New Year with Fuuka's otechi at Suzume Town Hall, it really ends with Haruna blowing up Suzume Town Hall when Juri's monstrous cooking skills revive the grilled halibut.

Trivia[]

  • Her motif is believed to be Beelzebub, the demon of gluttony. As Beelzebub is often represented as a fly, Haruna's eyes are an orange-red color, similar to the color of a fly's eyes. But it's not just Beelzebub, it's also thought to be a reference to the novel Lord of the Flies. It is believed to be an homage to the novel itself rather than Beelzebub in Lord of the Flies, and given the line in the novel that warns against the "pleasure of submission (meat)", it is possible to speculate that it symbolizes the overcomer who is beyond that pleasure or the prophet who first realizes salvation by Sensei.
