Harvey Dent, later known as Two-Face or "The Other Guy" (for his split personality), is the main antagonist of season 1 in the 2024 animated show Batman: Caped Crusader.

He is the corrupt district attorney of Gotham city and a rival to Barbara Gordon, the deuteragonist of the show. After he is disfigured by crime boss Rupert Thorne, he becomes a vigilante who goes after Gotham's criminals and corrupt officials - although, unlike Batman, he dedicates himself to killing them.

He was voiced by Diedrich Bader, who also voiced Warp Darkmatter in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Oscar in Ice Age, Tank Evans in Surf's Up, Hundun in Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness, and Kraven the Hunter in Ultimate Spider-Man.

Biography[]

Harvey Dent serves as the district attorney of Gotham city, who is also running for the position of mayor against the corrupt Mayor Jessop, who is on the payroll of crime boss Rupert Thorne. At first the election was in Harvey's favor, until the sudden appearance of Batman, and the Gotham Police Department's difficulty with handling all new costumed criminals that have been appearing, Harvey starting losing the election. One night while riding home on the train, Gentleman Ghost robs the passengers, but turns down taking any money from Harvey, due his twisted beliefs, when Harvey offers, which damages Harvey's reputation and causes Harvey's donors to drop their funds in Harvey's campaign. Desperate for funds in the election, Harvey decides to accept Rupert Throne's help, which he had previously turned down, for support in the election.

With Throne's help, Dent's chances in the election begin to improve, even manages to provide a carnival for the people of Gotham to enjoy, where he also meets with Thorne to give Harvey a donation for his election campaign, but Thorne also wants to the charges against a man Matt Milligan, whose case Harvey is candling against the next day. Still in need of Thorne's funds for the election, Harvey reluctantly agrees. However, on the following day, Harvey changes his mind, as he wants to be mayor to help improve Gotham, and chooses to continue with pressing charges against Milligan, but this act gets him burned in the the face with acid by Thorne's right-hand man, Tony Zito, for betraying Thorne, leaving half of Harvey's face disfigured and when recovering in hospital, he loses the election.

Following his disfigurement, Harvey goes mad with paranoia believing that people are talking about his face until he has a mental breakdown while out having dinner with Bruce Wayne as lets his paranoia get the better of him and decides to show the patrons of restaurant the scarred side of his face then runs out of the restaurant. After this incident, Harvey attacks a mugger who attacking an old man then shoots him in the knee with a gun, and goes a violent crusade to first hunt down Zito, until he kills him burning alive along with the building he's in. Then Harvey goes after Thorne by busting into Thorne's mansion and killing Thorne's men before nearly executing Thorne and his son Matthew, who was trying to protect his father before Batman arrives and stops Harvey. As Harvey fights Batman, Thorne and his son escape, and Harvey has a nervous breakdown, before regaining clarity; due to the guilt over his murder spree, Harvey begged to locked up.

After being brought to jail, he discovers that Barbara has signed up to represent him, despite their past differences. Although Harvey is unwilling to accept her help at first, Barbara still wants to represent him and has Harvey to brought Arkham Asylum for treatment. Due to the risk of Harvey exposing Thorne's criminal enterprises, he ordered corrupt cops Arnold Flass and Harvey Bullock to kidnap him. Harvey was able to sow discord and cause a car wreck, knocking out the corrupt cops; Barbara, who had pursued them, picks up Harvey so they could regroup with Commissioner Gordon and Batman.

Thorne sends squads of hitmen to murder Harvey and his allies, who each take the assassins down - all lethally, except for Batman. Eventually, Flass cornered Barbara, and wanting to erase witnesses of his crimes, shot at her, however, Harvey intercepted the bullet. Batman disarmed Flass, and aimed the gun at him, preparing to kill him for his actions, although Batman eventually calmed down enough to toss the gun into the ocean, and knocked Flass unconscious.

Harvey's bullet wound was fatal, as he lay dying beside Barbara and Batman; however, Harvey takes some comfort from Barbara that his last act was one of nobility, not crime.

Trivia[]

Much like the DCAU version, his accident was the fault of Rupert Thorne.
He is the second iteration of Harvey Dent that does not suffer from dissociative identity disorder; the first being the Nolanverse version.
- Akin to the Nolanverse iteration, he doesn't become a crime lord, instead becoming a violent and murderous vigilante.
Contrary to every other version of Harvey Dent, his deformity happened to his right side, instead of the left.
