Hathrom is one of the villains who appears in Chris Heimerdinger's Tennis Shoes Adventure Series. He serves as one of the overarching antagonists of the eleventh book, Sorcerers and Seers, and a supporting antagonist in the twelfth book, Drums of Desolation. Hathrom is the son of Akish and his second wife, Mizerath.
History[]
Not much is known about Hathrom's past, other than the fact that he was born to Akish and Mizerath. Sometime in his adulthood, Hathrom turned against his father and set out to annihilate both him and the estranged Jaredites that Akish once ruled over.
In the novel Sorcerers and Seers, Hathrom is said to still be at war with the peoples led by Akish and King Omer. When Joshua Plimpton and Marcos Alberto Sanchez come to King Omer's encampment, the Liahona they carry tells the Jaredites that both Hathrom and Akish are leading their armies to destroy them.
As the Jaredites are rushing to evacuate the area, Hathrom and his soldiers destroy the Jaredites' dam and cause the area to flood. Fortunately, the Jaredites are able to escape the flood and find refuge on higher ground.
Hathrom returns in the follow-up novel Drums of Desolation. He, along with Elam, has temporarily set aside his differences with his father in order to annihilate King Omer and his people. Hathrom and Elam meet up with Akish when Akish encounters Joshua in the caves. Akish asks where his other son, Nimrah, is. Hathrom and Elam tell Akish that Hamira had been bitten by a rattlesnake, and Nimrah has taken her with him. Akish orders his and Hathrom's soldiers to wait for Nimrah, even with the tide from the nearby ocean coming in.
Hathrom then watches as Akish's men binds Joshua and hangs him by a noose. They are ambushed by Marcos and a group of Jaredite soldiers, who fight Akish and Hathrom's warriors as the tide comes in. Marcos ends up engaging Hathrom one-on-one. Marcos shoots Hathrom in the kneecap, causing him to fall into the rising tide. Hathrom perishes in the waters as they sweep him farther out into the sea.
