~ Havik in Mortal Kombat 1. |
Dairou, also known as Havik, is a major antagonist in Mortal Kombat 1. He is a former resident of Orderrealm, before being sentenced for a crime he committed. This resulted in him embracing the Havik persona and vowing to morph Orderrealm to an anarchist utopia of his wishes.
Havik is voiced by Jacob Craner, who also voices his Titan counterpart in the same game.
Biography[]
The man who would become Havik was born Dairou in the Orderrealm capital Seido. Over time, he developed a hatred towards Seido's authorities after being harshly punished for a minor crime, seeing their rule as fascist. He embraced the concept of anarchy, and thus sought liberation for all Seidans. Havik travelled to Outworld and met Quan Chi, who promised him spells which would allow him to topple the Seidan government in exchange for his allegiance. Though skeptical, after being granted an extreme healing factor, Havik ultimately agreed to join him.
Havik and Darrius, along with Quan Chi's allies gathered in the Living Forest so that a soul stealer could be constructed to drain the souls from the forest. While Havik had gathered a necessary crystal, he voiced his and Darrius's doubts about Quan Chi's promises, but both Nitara and Sareena vouched for him, and was told that the spells would be granted after attacking Earthrealm. When attacked by Ashrah and her allies, Havik fought Baraka, and aided Nitara against Ashrah. After the soul stealer was activated, and the Forest was corrupted, Havik and Darrius fought Ashrah personally, but were defeated by the demon.
At Ying Fortress, Havik and Darrius encountered Scorpion, whom had just battled Rain and Quan Chi, and the furious anarchists confronted the Lin Kuei. Scorpion outmatched them both, but while distracted by beating Darrius, Havik landed a surprise shoulder tackle, nearly sending Scorpion careening into a gold smelting pot. He and Darrius attempted to push him into the smelting pot but it was Havik who would have his face horrifically burned. Further enraged, Havik renewed his kombat with Scorpion but was beaten by the ninja.
After Quan Chi was defeated, Havik enlisted Rain's help to drown Seido, which he was able to accomplish. With his dreams of anarchy having been achieved, Havik began work to rechristen Orderrealm as Chaosrealm. Some of the intro dialogues imply that Havik is plotting to spread his anarchy to Earthrealm next.
Personality[]
Havik came from a life of suffering, and thus embraced chaos against Seido's tyranny. However, while he claims to be fighting for his people's freedom, and on some level may believe as such, Havik's bloodthirsty actions indicate he is a hypocrite, not caring how many innocents die in the crossfire. Havik both believes that all authorities are as corrupt by default, but forces his beliefs on others. He had no issue allying with the likes of Quan Chi, and when he manipulates Rain into drowning Seido, he shows no regret of the hundreds of thousands who die as collateral damage, even boasting about how people now fear him.

~ Havik after winning a round against Ashrah. |
“ | I have had enough. You will die! | „ |
~ Havik's between rounds quote to Scorpion. |
“ | Quan Chi's defeat had cost me everything. For months I had furthered his plot, and now I had to start over. Seido's people were still in chains. That's when Rain approached me. On the run from Empress Mileena, he was desperate for help. And though I'd had my fill of sorcerers, this one was different. I agreed to provide him safe haven. He agreed to help topple Seido's government. And topple it we did. Rain summoned a wave so vast, so powerful, that it crushed the capital. Seido's fascist ruler were swept away. My people are finally free. They can chart their own course, needing only to follow their own desires. Their lives are now blessed by anarchy. | „ |
