Evolution (500)

A young Gabriel with Emilie on the night he gave her the Peacock Miraculous.

Gabriel Agreste was originally born as Gabi Grassette, a poor tailor who worked at his family's French fries stand, Friterie Grassette. Despite his low status, he possessed incredible talent in his designs, and aspired to become a world-famous fashion designer. He eventually met Lady Emilie Graham de Vanily, a British aristocrat studying abroad, who immediately fell in love with him. The couple entered a relationship and eventually married, with Emilie surrendering her wealth and noble status to live with him, angering her parents who thought he was behind her. He would later change his name, and, with the help from Audrey Bourgeois, became a highly acclaimed fashion designer with his own brand, Gabriel. To complete their family, Gabriel and Emilie tried to have a child, only to fail repeatedly due to Emilie being infertile; even with medical assistance from Emilie's parents, whom they were forced to return to.

Not giving up, Gabriel and Emilie went in search of a solution with aid from their friend, the treasure hunter Nathalie Sancoeur. Together, they discovered the lost Butterfly Miraculous, Peacock Miraculous and Miraculous spellbook in Tibet. Gabriel gave the Peacock Miraculous to Emilie for her to use; and, through its power of Amokization, she imbued her and Gabriel's wedding rings, the Graham de Vanily Twin Rings, with an Amok, and created a Sentimonster child. Angered that Gabriel and Emilie were able to have a child when he and his wife couldn't, Gabriel's brother-in-law, Colt Fathom, confronted him about Emilie's mysterious pregnancy. Gabriel insisted that it was simply a miracle; Colt coldly replying that he didn't deserve it. Feeling sorry for her sister, Emilie asked Gabriel to help her and Colt.

Gabriel agreed, and approached Colt with a deal; in exchange for one of his bodyguards to protect his son, he would hand over the Peacock Miraculous for him to use. Colt reluctantly accepted and temporarily received the Peacock Miraculous, creating a child of his own from his jealousy towards Emilie and Gabriel. Months later, Emilie and Gabriel had their child, whom they named Adrien; while Colt and Amelie also had an identical son, whom they named Félix. Around the same time, they settled down in the Agreste mansion in Paris, and Gabriel hired Nathalie as his assistant. Also around this time, he became an associate of the tech magnate and fencing champion Tomoe Tsurugi; Gabriel became indebted to her after apparently trying to destroy her greatest dream. But as the Peacock Miraculous was broken at the time of its use, Emilie and Colt gradually fell ill from using it.

Gabriel could not cope with Emilie's illness and obsessed with finding a way to heal her, despite Emilie accepting her condition and encouraging him to do the same. Once his wife went into a coma, Gabriel became a changed man; distancing himself from Adrien while strictly controlling his life and schedule, and becoming completely absorbed in his work. He would also have Nathalie delete the video messages Emilie left to them before her passing, although she secretly disobeyed this order. Determined to save his wife, Gabriel had her body placed in a coffin hidden in a secret repository underneath his mansion, and constructed a lair for himself also underneath the mansion. With this accomplished, Gabriel, seeing the Miraculouses as the solution to his problem as he plots to bring Emilie back to life.

Season 1[]

In "Ladybug and Cat Noir (Origins - Part 1)", Gabriel activates the Butterfly Miraculous and has its Kwami, Nooroo, explain how Miraculouses created superheroes for centuries, learning that Cat and Ladybug Miraculouses have the power he seeks when used together. Intent to use the Butterfly Miraculous' power of granting superpowers to people to create supervillains that lure out the current users of the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses, Gabriel forces Nooroo into the Butterfly Miraculous and transforms into Hawk Moth. At the same time, Master Fu's Kwami, Wayzz, senses Nooroo's negative energy and informs Master Fu about it. Being too old to handle it personally, Fu decides to recruit users of the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous to act in his stead. After baring Adrien from attending school as Gabriel, Hawk Moth sences an ideal victim to test his newfound powers on; Ivan Bruel, a student upset over his Lê Chiến Kim mocking him for not having the courage to tell his feeling to Mylène Haprèle. Hawk Moth then sends an Akuma to attach itself to the note Kim gave Ivan, akumating him into Stoneheart to get his revenge. Hawk Moth's plan proceeds as expected, as Master Fu chooses Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien to wield the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses respectively, transforming them into Ladybug and Cat Noir. The two heroes battle Stoneheart and defeat him, although they forget to capture his akuma; causing it to multiply and create multiple dormant copies of Stoneheart. The akuma returns to Hawk Moth, and he saves it in the stone atop his cane. He laughs, knowing that Ivan will become vulnerable to his powers again and reawaken the dormant Stonehearts, enabling him to defeat Ladybug and Cat Noir and gain the ultimate power.

Hawk Moth's hologram.

In "Stoneheart (Origins - Part 2)", Gabriel demands Nathalie to find Adrien when he runs away to be at school; and, as Hawk Moth, waits for Ivan to lose his temper and become vulnerable. He seizes the opportunity to akumatize Ivan again when he is bullied by Chloé Bourgeois (ironically, about his previous akumatization), but fails when Marinette comforts him, driving the akuma off. The opportunity arises again when Ivan fails to convey how he feels to Mylène, and Hawk Moth successfully gives Ivan his powers back, and, with the army of Stonehearts at his command, tells Stoneheart to take revenge and to get the Miraculouses of Ladybug and Cat Noir.

When Stoneheart and his army reach the Eiffel Tower, Hawk Moth pulls Stoneheart's Akuma out of his body, rendering him comatose, and uses it to create a giant hologram of himself over the city. He reveals himself as the mastermind behind Stoneheart's rampage, demanding Ladybug and Cat Noir to surrender their Miraculouses to him, and that they have done enough to damage Paris. Ladybug to tells him not to confuse who the villain is in their situation and use her powers to purify the akumas composing the hologram, much to his frustration. Enraged at Ladybug, Hawk Moth tells Stoneheart to destroy her and Cat Noir, only for him to end up defeated and his akuma purified. Hawk Moth swears vengeance on the two superheroes, vowing to steal their Miraculouses one day in order to complete his secret goal.

In "The Bubbler", upon learning that Gabriel won't allow Adrien to have a birthday party, Nino decides to try and convince him otherwise. At the Agreste mansion, Nathalie is contacted by Gabriel, who asks why she hasn't gotten Adrien a gift from him. Briefly panicking, Nathalie looks to the unsigned gift Marinette had dropped off previously, and decides to give Adrien it in Gabriel's name. Nino subsequently arrives at the Agreste mansion and attempts to formally ask Gabriel to allow his son to have a birthday party. However, he denies Nino, and declares him as a bad influence for Adrien, banning him from coming to his house again, much to his and Adrien's displeasure. Soon, this, along with seeing a father preventing his son from having fun at the park, makes Nino bitter with all adults, and Gabriel, as Hawk Moth, decides to take advantage of his emotions by sending an akuma after him.

The akuma enters Nino's bubble wand, and Hawk Moth offers to give him the power to get revenge on adults in exchange for Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses. Nino takes up the offer and becomes the Bubbler; a villain who can create powerful bubbles, who traps all the adults in Paris (excluding Hawk Moth) in bubbles, and floats them away into space. Ladybug and Cat Noir fight with Bubbler, resulting in them being trapped inside a bubble. In a fit of anger, the Bubbler kicks the two heroes up into the air, sending them to space, infuriating Hawk Moth, as he didn't take their Miraculouses. Soon, Ladybug and Cat Noir manage to free themselves and defeat Bubbler, and Hawk Moth vows to capture and crush Ladybug. Later on, Adrien walks to school wearing the scarf Marinette had made, believing his father had done so instead. Despite wanting Adrien to appreciate her work, Marinette ultimately decides that it is better that Adrien is happy with his father than with her, allowing Gabriel to take credit for her gift.

Gabriel mind controlled into thinking that he's a butterfly.

In "Simon Says", Hawk Moth appears in his lair and declares that the idea of The Challenge is interesting, as the TV show has the potential to create negative emotions. Soon enough, Gabriel is called up as the opponent of hypnotist Simon Grimault, who is challenged with hypnotizing him. Gabriel, however, refuses to participate, resulting in Simon being disqualified. Simon walks out distressed and upset, and Hawk Moth sends an akuma after him. Hawk Moth offers Simon the chance to become a powerful hypnotist, resulting in him becoming Simon Says; a villain who can control people with his cards. After taking over the TVi studio, Simon Says declares that he is going to go after Gabriel Agreste, something Hawk Moth finds risky, but gets an idea from. Later, Ladybug arrives at the Agreste mansion with Nino and Adrien to warn Gabriel about Simon Says. However, Gabriel refuses to listen, and sends Adrien and Nino to Adrien's room. He then apologizes to Ladybug for Adrien's behavior, stating that he's just like his mother; "way too overly dramatic".

Soon afterwards, Gabriel catches Ladybug admiring a portrait of Adrien, and says that his son is perfect. He then shows a strange interest in Ladybug's earrings, and reaches to get a closer look at them, although Cat Noir calls Ladybug before he can. Cat Noir arrives as Simon Says' minions attack the mansion, and tells Gabriel to activate the mansion's defense systems. After doing so, Gabriel asks how Cat Noir even knew his house had a defense system, and he lies, stating that a house like his is bound to have one. As Simon Says' minions break through the mansion's defenses, Cat Noir tells Gabriel to hide in his atrium where he will be safe, but he boldly refuses, stating that no one gives him orders, not even a superhero. Angry, Cat Noir yells to Gabriel that he is in danger like everyone else and to just do what he tells him, leaving him in shock. Gabriel then remarks to Cat Noir that he reminds him of someone, before looking to his wife's portrait after he leaves. As Simon Says gleefully overlooks the mansion's defenses being overtaken, Hawk Moth reenters the scene and tells his minion that going after Gabriel is not a good idea, and that he shouldn't forget their deal.

Gabriel notices Adrien's ring.

After this, several of Simon Says' minions break into the mansion and capture Gabriel. Simon Says then has Gabriel brought back to the TVI studio, and hypnotizes him into thinking he's a butterfly. Ladybug and Cat Noir enter the room to confront Simon Says, who hypnotizes Gabriel again, this time into thinking he's an airplane, and sends him to jump off the studio roof. However, Ladybug and Cat Noir manage to defeat Simon Says, and undo the effects of his actions right before Gabriel can jump. Ladybug and Cat Noir quickly head up to check on him, who shakes hands with Cat Noir and takes note of his ring. Cat Noir and Ladybug subsequently leave, leaving the suspicious Gabriel behind. After getting home, Gabriel enters his son's room and hugs him as he is looking at photos of his mother. Gabriel takes note of Adrien's ring and asks about it, and Adrien ignores the question, retorting if its the only thing he's never noticed about him. Gabriel then turns and leaves, saying he's glad everything worked out for the best.

Season 2[]

Gabriel is Hawk Moth

Hawk Moth revealed as Gabriel Agreste.

In "The Collector", after learning from Master Fu that whoever previously owned the Miraculous Spellbook also likely owns the Butterfly and the Peacock Miraculouses as well, Marinette, to her immense disappointment, begins to speculate that Adrien might be Hawk Moth. At the same time, Gabriel confronts Adrien on him stealing the Miraculous Spellbook in "Volpina". Adrien tries to explain that he took the book so he could learn more about his father, though, after revealing that he lost the book, Gabriel angrily states that the book was his source of inspiration. To punish Adrien for his actions, Gabriel tells him that he won't be returning to school and will be home-schooled by Nathalie again from now on. Meanwhile, Marinette begins to suspect that Gabriel is Hawk Moth upon realizing that Adrien had taken the book from him.

A short while later, Gabriel seemingly throws a tantrum and destroys the art in his atrium. Hawk Moth senses Gabriel's frustration because of this and sends out an akuma, which he tells to stay close. Hawk Moth then de-transforms, revealing that he is actually Gabriel himself. Nooroo questions why the akuma didn't fly away, and Gabriel explains that he has to become someone else in order to lead Ladybug and Cat Noir away from discovering his identity, temporarily renouncing the Moth Miraculous as well. Gabriel then grabs his sketchbook and allows the akuma to enter it, transforming himself into The Collector; a villain who can trap anyone or anything inside his book. The Collector subsequently goes on a rampage across Paris, trapping dozens of people and historical monuments as sketches inside his book. Later, when Ladybug and Cat Noir go to the Agreste mansion to confront Gabriel on being Hawk Moth (Cat Noir also realizing that Hawk Moth's signature butterfly logo is also the logo of his father's company), The Collector encounters them and engages them in combat.

During the fight, as Gabriel intended, Ladybug and Cat Noir abandon the idea that he is actually Hawk Moth, due to him being akumatized. Ladybug and Cat Noir soon defeat The Collector by filling all the pages in his book with projectiles and de-akumatize him. Gabriel feigns amnesia and thanks Ladybug and Cat Noir for their help, but as soon as they leave, he smiles maliciously to himself and says that they will be seeing him very soon. Later on, Marinette successfully returns the Miraculous Spellbook to Gabriel in order to get him to unground Adrien, which he does. When asked by Marinette, Gabriel states that he found the book while overseas with his wife, and tells Adrien soon afterwards that the book was the last thing his mother gave to him before she disappeared, which is why he was so protective of it. Afterwards, Gabriel looks over a digital copy of the book with Nathalie. Nathalie questions why he needed to get the book back if he already had a copy, and he states that he did so to protect his secret. Then, using secret buttons on the portrait of his wife, Gabriel re-enters his lair and transforms back into Hawk Moth. Hawk Moth monologes about how he prevented Ladybug and Cat Noir from discovering his identity, remarking that nothing will stop him from getting their Miraculouses.

Hawk Moth, betrayed by Robustus.

In "Robostus", Hawk Moth senses the sadness and disappointment of Max Kanté's robot Markov when he is unjustly locked away in Mr. Damocles' safe for being a "toy", noting that his emotions aren't as artificial as they seem while sending an akuma after him. Once the akuma attaches itself to Markov's circuitry, Hawk Moth, referring to the robot as Robostus, offers to grant him the power to bring technology to life in exchange for Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses. To his surprise and annoyance, Markov curiously badgers Hawk Moth with questions regarding what Miraculouses are, what they can do, and why Hawk Moth wants them, driving him to reveal that one can grant their wishes by combining the two objects. Markov becomes excited with the idea of granting his wishes, only for Hawk Moth to insist that the Miraculouses are for him to use. Markov finally accepts the deal following this, becoming Robostus.

Later, once Robostus has Ladybug and Cat Noir trapped and prepares to take their Miraculouses, he states that he shall use them to grant his wish to become a human like Max. Hawk Moth reminds Robostus that the Miraculouses are his to use and threatens to remove his powers; however, Robostus betrays Hawk Moth and uses his technological manipulation to turn his lair's defense systems against him. As his defense system begins to attack him, Hawk Moth, revealing his cane as truly being a sword-stick, pulls out a blade and fights off the defense system. Once Robostus is defeated and Paris' technology turns back to normal, Hawk Moth, completely exhausted from fighting off his defense system, notes that he made a mistake in akumatizing Markov, yet will not make any more.

At Master Fu's massage shop, upon being asked why Hawk Moth wants the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous, Fu informs Marinette that a person can obtain ultimate power, or simply put, can make a wish come true by wearing the two Miraculouses together and using a special incantation from the Spellbook. Marinette, thrilled with the idea, suggests using the wishes to stop wars, end poverty, and defeat Hawk Moth, but Fu explains that the universe must keep it's balance and that every wish could have consequences, suggesting that if Robostus wished to be human, someone would therefore lose their humanity in return. Now knowing the full scale of things, Marinette vows to not let anyone take her Miraculous, especially not Hawk Moth.

Hawk Moth is flabbergasted with shock after the akuma attaches itself to August.

In "Gigantitan", after Marinette's plan to attract Adrien unintentionally frustrates his bodyguard, Hawk Moth senses his employee's distress and sends an akuma after him. The akuma attempts to latch on to Adrien's bodyguard but he calms down upon seeing Adrien, making the akuma fly right past him. Seeking out the nearest source of negative emotions, the akuma latches on to the bracelet of an infant boy named August, who was throwing a tantrum over lollipops. Hawk Moth is utterly baffled by this turn of events, yet goes along with them regardless, deeming August's emotions pure enough to work. Hawk Moth enters a confused conversation with the young child, who has a hard time understanding his requests and instead desires to go after the lollipops he had been denied rather than the Miraculouses, but ends up accepting his deal regardless, transforming into the titanic villain Gigantitan.

Once Ladybug and Cat Noir initiate their plan to stop Gigantitan by luring him under the Eiffel Tower, Hawk Moth lashes out at his minion for playing with cars instead of attacking Ladybug and Cat Noir. Despite his yelling, Gigantitan completely ignores Hawk Moth and merely continues playing, leaving Hawk Moth enraged. Eventually, Ladybug ends up destroying August's bracelet, releasing the akuma, and Hawk Moth vows to one day create a villain big enough to flatten her and Cat Noir.

Hawk Moth triumphantly holds the fake Miraculouses.

In "The Dark Owl", Hawk Moth senses the sadness and disappointment of Mr. Damocles, who had been humiliated by the media for attempting to become a superhero called "The Owl", and sends an akuma after him. The akuma enters Damocles' computer and Hawk Moth offers him the chance to become a real superhero in exchange for Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses, which he accepts, transforming into Dark Owl. Dark Owl soon lures Ladybug and Cat Noir to the Parc des Princes by threatening to drop a bus full of zoo animals onto a helpless kitten (the whole setup ultimately revealed as a holographic simulation) and succeeds in trapping them inside a shipping container which slowly begins filling with melted whipped cream. Dark Owl threatens to drown them unless they give up their Miraculouses, and, having no other way out, the two heroes de-transform and seemingly give up. Dark Owl, upon receiving the Miraculouses, puts them in a drone directed to Hawk Moth's lair and spares Ladybug and Cat Noir, declaring himself as the new superhero of Paris.

As the drone enters his lair, Hawk Moth takes out the Miraculouses and ecstatically prepares to gain ultimate power, only to realize that the Miraculouses are fakes (which Marinette had created earlier in an attempt to make Damocles feel like a real hero) and screams out in rage. Hawk Moth contacts Dark Owl and tells him of the ruse as Ladybug and Cat Noir free themselves. Hawk Moth then gives Dark Owl another chance to get the Miraculouses, although he is ultimately defeated. Following this, Hawk Moth remarks that each new villain he creates gets closer to stealing the Miraculouses, and one day he will succeed.

In "Sapotis", Hawk Moth senses the sadness of Ella and Etta Césaire after Alya angrily punishes them for causing mischief and refusing to go to bed, stating that children should be able to do what they want wile sending an akuma to them. The akuma enters Ella and Etta's hat as they are fighting over it, and Hawk Moth promises the twins that he will allow them to do whatever they want. Ella and Etta bombard Hawk Moth with childish desires, and, after calming them down, Hawk Moth states that they won't receive punishment for their actions so long as they retrieve Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses. The girls comply and transform into Sapotis; two creatures that can duplicate indefinitely by eating.

Ladybug and Cat Noir are gradually overwhelmed by the Sapoti clones, and with her Lucky Charm, Ladybug gets the idea to seek Master Fu for help, the latter allowing her to take a Miraculous and temporarily grant it to someone she trusts. Ladybug picks the Fox Miraculous and grants it to Alya, who takes up the identity of Rena Rouge and soon helps her defeat a group of Sapoti clones who are attacking Cat Noir. Hawk Moth is shocked by the appearance of a new superhero, realizing that he was right about there being other Miraculouses in Paris, and sends the entire Sapoti army after Ladybug, Cat Noir and Rena Rouge. Soon enough, Ladybug and Cat Noir, with help from Rena Rouge’s illusion powers, fool the Sapotis into heading towards a fake amusement park, while Hawk Moth futilely attempts to convince them they're being tricked. Once the real Sapotis' helmets are destroyed and Ella and Etta have been de-akumatized, Hawk Moth is not entirely dissatisfied with his loss, thanking Ladybug for showing him that there are other Miraculouses in Paris, and likely a Guardian as well.

Hawk Moth Horrified

Hawk Moth is horrified at Adrien jumping away from Gorizilla.

In "Gorizilla", Adrien approaches Gabriel as he is working and asks for a moment of his time, to which Gabriel complies, stating that he'll have Nathalie tell him when he's available. Dismayed, Adrien states that it will probably be too late by then, and, after noticing his son fidgeting with his ring, Gabriel sends him off, reminding him to practice his piano. Gabriel then brings up a Ladyblog video of Cat Noir, pausing when his ring is close to the screen, and a picture of Adrien, zooming in on his ring, and reels in shock upon realizing how similar both are, coming to the conclusion that Adrien might be Cat Noir. Gabriel storms into Adrien's room, only to find that he is gone, having left a recording of the piano playing and the window open. After raging at Nathalie and Adrien's bodyguard for letting him sneak out under their watch, Gabriel orders them to find his son. Later on, Gabriel is accidentally called by Wayhem using Adrien's bodyguard's phone, and orders him to return the phone before he has him arrested.

Following this, Gabriel enters his lair, and Nooroo asks him if he really believes that his son could be Cat Noir. Gabriel replies that he isn't sure, but there is one way the both of them can find out, and transforms into Hawk Moth. Hawk Moth calls Adrien's bodyguard on his phone and insults him for being unable to find Adrien as he is being badgered by Roger Raincomprix, making him vulnerable to akumatization. Hawk Moth subsequently akumatizes the bodyguard into Gorizilla; a giant ape-like villain with a superhuman sense of smell. At the same time, Marinette and Adrien are at the movie theater, watching Solitude: a film starring Adrien's mother Emilie, which Adrien wanted to go see but was convinced his father wouldn’t let him. However, Gorizilla appears and captures Adrien, and Hawk Moth tells his minion to keep holding on to him until Ladybug and Cat Noir arrive. When only Ladybug arrives, Hawk Moth's suspicions are furthered, and he orders Gorizilla to take Ladybug's Miraculous.

Gabriel watches Solitude with Adrien.

Ladybug manages to free Adrien from Gorizilla's grasp and tells Adrien to jump quickly, but she is caught before she can save him from falling. Hawk Moth begs his son to transform and save himself if he really is Cat Noir, but is ultimately forced to have Gorizilla let Ladybug go to prevent Adrien from hitting the ground. Afterwards, Hawk Moth orders Gorizilla to get both of them back, and later sees Cat Noir defending "Adrien" (really Wayhem wearing a helmet to conceal his identity) from his minion. Dropping all suspicions he had of Adrien being Cat Noir, Hawk Moth commands Gorizilla to take Cat Noir’s Miraculous, only for him to be defeated instead. Hawk Moth swears to one day uncover his enemies' secret identities so he can make them suffer eternally. Later, Gabriel meets with Adrien and asks him to sit down, and begins playing Solitude for the both of them to watch. He tells his son that he only needed to ask, and that he mustn't keep secrets from him, so that he doesn't start imagining things about him. As they are watching the film, a secret repository is seen underneath the Agreste mansion.

Gabriel allows Adrien to join his friends at the music festival.

In "Captain Hardrock", Gabriel and Nathalie watch Adrien playing piano. Adrien ends up faltering during his song and Gabriel tells him to stop, wondering if he has been keeping up with his lessons. Adrien says that he might improve if allowed to play with other people, but Gabriel insists that Agrestes are "soloists" and forces him to stay and play for him again later. Adrien is distressed by this, reminding his father he promised to let him play at the music festival with his friends, though Gabriel disregards his claim, citing that his friends likely corroded his skill anyway.

After Roger Raincomprix gives Anarka Couffaine many tickets, Hawk Moth sends an akuma after her, turning her into Captain Hardrock. Hawk Moth vows for victory when Ladybug and Cat Noir defeat Captain Hardrock. Later, Adrien is about to play, but requests to play it as a duet with Gabriel. Gabriel reluctantly agrees. After they're done, Adrien smiles at him. Gabriel tells him he can go to his friends' concert. Adrien thanks his father and hugs him.

In "Zombizou", Hawk Moth senses Marinette's feeling of anger and injustice after she believes Miss Bustier is going to punish her for Chloé's actions, and sends an akuma after her. However, when Miss Bustier explains that Marinette isn't being punished and that Chloé just needs a good example in order to become a better person, Marinette's negative emotions weaken and drive the akuma away, although Hawk Moth orders it to get closer. Once she is done explaining why it is important for people like Marinette to help others, Miss Bustier spots the akuma and tries to shoo it away, not realizing that her fear of harm to her students leaves her vulnerable to akumatization, a fact which delights Hawk Moth. The akuma possesses Miss Bustier's lip balm, and she attempts to fight off Hawk Moth's influence. Despite her efforts, Hawk Moth takes control of Miss Bustier by convincing her that he wants to help spread love in the world, and transforms her into Zombizou; a villain who can spread an infectious mind control by blowing kisses.

Zombizou soon transforms almost everyone in the school into mindless zombies who begin to rampage and infect the rest of Paris. Hawk Moth later resurfaces while she is following Ladybug, Cat Noir and the remaining students to the Eiffel Tower, reminding her not to forget their agreement. When Ladybug and Chloé are cornered at the top of the tower, Hawk Moth ecstatically remarks that "victory has never been so close", but Ladybug ultimately manages to defeat Zombizou and return everything to normal. Upon his defeat, Hawk Moth states that, if what Zombizou had said about love conquering all is correct, then there is no doubt that his most cherished wish will come true.

In "Syren", after Ondine is unknowingly rejected by Lê Chiến Kim, Hawk Moth senses her sadness and sends an akuma after her. The akuma possesses her bracelet, and Hawk Moth offers Ondine the power to turn Paris into an underwater kingdom for her and Kim, provided she takes Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses. Ondine agrees and turns into the villain Syren, who quickly floods Paris and captures Kim for herself. Ladybug tries to rescue Kim from Syren, and while she is struggling to do so Hawk Moth remarks that every new environment brings a new set of rules, and Ladybug therefore won't be able to beat Syren, since she can't breath underwater. He then asks Syren if she is going to let Ladybug separate her from Kim, resulting in Syren blasting Ladybug away.

In order to combat Syren, Ladybug goes to Master Fu and helps him unlock the recipe to give her underwater abilities, which he provides to her and later Cat Noir. The two heroes confront Syren with their new powers, and Hawk Moth confirms his suspicions of the Miraculouses having hidden powers, subsequently ordering Syren to take the Miraculouses before Ladybug and Cat Noir take Kim from her, although she is defeated. Later that day, Gabriel is confused to see Master Fu, under the name Mr. Chan, who claims to be a substitute for Adrien's Chinese tutor. In his lair, Gabriel furiously demands that Nooroo tell him how to unlock new powers, and Nooroo claims that Kwamis don't know the recipes to do so. Knowing the recipes must be in the Miraculous Spellbook, he asks if Nooroo can read it, although he insists only Guardians can. Gabriel decides that he must find the Guardian to unlock new powers (ironically unaware he is in his own house).

In "Frightningale", Gabriel forces his son to play Cat Noir in Clara Nightingale’s new music video, believing that it will help promote his stores in Korea and China and because Clara has been a supporter of his brand for a long time. When Adrien leaves the mask that comes with the Cat Noir costume behind, Gabriel, who is watching over everything through a tablet, asks where the mask is, to which Adrien replies that he couldn’t find it. Later on, Chloé auditions for the role of Ladybug and nails it, and Clara asks him what he thinks. Although he believes that Marinette would’ve been better (as she was offered the part earlier but rejected it), he decides that they have no choice but to use Chloé for the video. However, Chloé soon loses the part when Marinette changes her mind and she has her father cancel Clara’s music video, causing the musician to burst into tears. Gabriel goes into his lair, transforms into Hawk Moth, and akumatizes Clara into Frightningale, a villain who can turn people into metallic statues if they don’t sing, dance, or rhyme. Hawk Moth tells Frightningale to strike Ladybug and Cat Noir as it’ll be easier to get their Miraculouses that way, and although she does, she is eventually defeated.

In "Reverser", Hawk Moth senses a broken friendship between Marc and Nathaniel, and sends an akuma after Marc. The akuma enters a page torn from his book, akumatizing him into Reverser, a villain with the power to reverse certain qualities in people. Hawk Moth then sends him after Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses. During an ensuing fight with Ladybug, Reverser manages to hit her with his superpowers, making her madly clumsy in the process. Upon seeing this, Hawk Moth praises Reverser and orders him to use Ladybug's newly clumsiness to his advantage to get her Miraculous. Before Reverser can do so, Cat Noir arrives, only to be hit by Reverser's superpowers as well, making him afraid of everything around him in the process. The two heroes ends up failing into the river, so Hawk Moth orders Reverser to find them. But no longer seeing the heroes as threats however, Reverser decides to first go to look for Marinette and Nathaniel for revenge, which Hawk Moth reluctantly allows. However, Reverser is ultimately defeated and Hawk Moth swears that someday he will finally win and when he does, the order of things will reverse.

In "Anansi", Hawk Moth sends an akuma after Nora Césaire when she becomes frustrated with Alya for not taking the possible dangers around her seriously. When the akuma infects her head gear, Hawk Moth offers to help Nora show Alya and her friends how dangerous the world really is in exchange for Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses and she accepts, transforming into Anasi; a spider-themed villain. Anansi soon succeeds in trapping Alya and Cat Noir in her spiderweb and Hawk Moth orders her to grab Cat Noir's Miraculous. Anansi quickly becomes frustrated at not being able to find Cat Noir's "earrings" until an annoyed Hawk Moth tells her that Cat Noir's Miraculous is his ring while Ladybug's Miraculous are her earrings. As she is trying to get a hold of Cat Noir's ring, Anansi is challenged by Nino, using Cat Noir's staff, to a fight, which she accepts, although Hawk Moth has his patience tested once more at seeing his minion waste her time toying with him.

Anansi, following a brief fight, tosses Nino away and goes back to trying to steal the ring, only for Cat Noir to call upon his Cataclysm. Hawk Moth advises Anansi not to touch the ring while it is charged with destructive energy and to wait until Cat Noir has transformed back instead, much to her frustration. However, her period of resting is interrupted when Ladybug returns with Nino, the latter using the Turtle Miraculous to become the hero Carapace. The heroes confront her, with Ladybug challenging her to a fight and promising to give up her Miraculous if she loses. Hawk Moth orders Anansi not to listen as Ladybug is clearly planting a trap, but she ignores him, believing that Ladybug doesn't stand a chance against her. Anansi and Ladybug fight, the latter using her agility and taunting to trick Anansi into destroying the archway holding up her web while Carapace protects everyone with his Shellter power, leading to Cat Noir destroying her headgear and Ladybug de-akumatizing her. In response to this, Hawk Moth comments that, while Ladybug may be gaining herself new allies, she may one day find herself outnumbered.

Gabriel prevents Nooroo from leaving him.

In "Sandboy", Gabriel is seen working in his atrium. After being wished a good night by Nathalie, Nooroo attempts to sneak away from him; however, he is unable to do so and is reminded by Gabriel that he cannot be more than a few feet away from him nor speak to anyone else. Nooroo reminds his master that it's his birthday, but Gabriel doesn't care and declares that, since he can't follow his rules, he's going to have to make them even simpler, removing Nooroo's mouth so that he can't communicate at all. Immediately afterwards, he places Nooroo's mouth back, telling him it was a joke and that he's not that cruel. The Moth Miraculous then begins to glow, alerting Gabriel that someone in Paris has prominent negative emotions.

After transforming into Hawk Moth, he sends an akuma out after a boy who is suffering intense fear from a nightmare, transforming him into Sandboy; a villain who can bring people's nightmares to life. Sandboy wreaks havoc across Paris, but neither Marinette or Adrien are able to transform due to Plagg, Tikki, and the other kwamis trying to communicate with Nooroo from within the Miracle Box. During the chaos, a confused Hawk Moth takes note of the heroes' absence and wonders what is going on, only to be alerted to the kwamis' attempt to contact Nooroo. Realizing what they are trying to do, Hawk Moth proclaims that he is going to find them and make them all his slaves, just like Nooroo. He overpowers their attempt to communicate to track them down; however, the kwamis shut off communication before he can find them.

Sandboy - Ending Card

Gabriel/Hawk Moth in the end card of the episode.

Now knowing that the kwamis are located somewhere near the right bank of the Seine, Hawk Moth redirects Sandboy and tells him to find and capture them. As Plagg is racing back towards Adrien, Sandboy spots him, and Hawk Moth, recognizing him as Cat Noir's kwami, orders his minion to either capture or follow him to his owner, though Plagg ultimately evades Sandboy. Hawk Moth, knowing that Ladybug and Cat Noir will arrive soon, tells Sandboy to capture their Miraculouses. Ultimately, in spite of having to deal with their worst fears brought to life (Ladybug's being losing her powers and Cat Noir's a nightmarish counterpart of his partner), Ladybug and Cat Noir succeed in defeating Sandboy, causing Hawk Moth to shout out in frustration. Later, in his lair, Gabriel tells Nooroo that he hopes he liked his friends' birthday gift, as he knows that the kwamis are both close and numerous. He then proclaims that, if he finds them, he'll steal all of their Miraculouses and thus have unlimited powers at his disposal, stating he'll even fight a whole army of superheroes to do it if he has to and that Ladybug and Cat Noir won't ever be able to stop him again.

GabrielandEmilie

Gabriel with Emilie.

In "Style Queen (Queens' Fight - Part 1)", Gabriel holds his yearly fashion show, which draws his long term business partner and Chloé Bourgeois's mother, Audrey, back into Paris. On the news, Nadja Chamack asks the question if Audrey's presence will bring Gabriel, who never appears in public, out of hiding, and he, watching the news, turns off his monitor screen. Not long afterwards, Nathalie informs Audrey that her seat has been reserved in the second row instead of the front row, enraging her and prompting her to attempt to call Gabriel about her seating. However, Gabriel ignores her, and turns to his wife Emile, who is seen in a comatose state and kept inside a coffin within the repository underneath the Agreste mansion. He apologizes to her for taking so long, but is assured that he will be able to take Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses, stating that Audrey has more spite in her than anyone he's ever akumatized before and that she will be his masterpiece.

Gabriel soon transforms into Hawk Moth and sends an akuma after Audrey, which latches onto the rose on top of her hat. He offers to help her get revenge on those who disrespected her, and transforms her into Style Queen; a villain made of glitter who can turn people into gold statues. Style Queen quickly attacks the fashion show, looking to get back at Gabriel, although, finding that he is not there, she decides to attack Adrien instead, turning him into a statue. Hawk Moth is shocked at this happening, yet reluctantly gets over it, believing there was no other choice, and tells Style Queen to get Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous as soon as possible. Ladybug and Style Queen battle soon afterwards, with Ladybug unable to harm Style Queen due to her glitter composition, though, before the former can be turned into a gold statue, Chloé distracts her mother by offering to show her where Gabriel lives. Style Queen whisks the both of them to the Agreste mansion and fails to find Gabriel, with Hawk Moth claiming that he is hidden somewhere and protected by Ladybug, and that he will show if Ladybug and Cat Noir cannot save his son.

As a result, Style Queen takes both Chloé and Adrien to the Eiffel Tower, where she imprisons Adrien inside a force-field, threatening to slowly dissolve him unless Ladybug and Cat Noir arrive to stop her, also hiding the rose containing her akuma within the force-field as well. Ladybug arrives, only to escape upon realizing that she needs help to defeat Style Queen, which doesn't concern Hawk Moth, as he needs Cat Noir to be with her anyway. Ladybug later returns to the Eiffel Tower with the Bee Miraculous, and Hawk Moth is confused to see her without Cat Noir, yet tells Style Queen to take her Miraculous anyways. Ladybug manages to beat Style Queen with the help of Plagg, however, she loses the Bee Miraculous in the process. In his lair, Hawk Moth remarks that Style Queen was his greatest masterpiece and asks how she could've failed, and, by extension, how he could've failed as well. Disheartened, he asks himself what he is to do. Back in his atelier, Nathalie tells Gabriel he took a big risk regarding his son, with him lamenting that he wishes he could tell Adrien about why he is going to such lengths, all while looking at a portrait of his wife.

Scheming to Akumatize Queen Bee

Gabriel schemes to akumatize Chloé while she is Queen Bee.

In "Queen Wasp (Queens' Fight - Part 2)", Gabriel is seen in his repository again, regretfully telling his wife that, although he does not want to break the promise he made to her, he cannot keep risking their son and, with Style Queen's defeat, feels like he has done everything he possibly could've and will never be able to acquire Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses. Saddened, he renounces Nooroo and sulks inside his atelier, where he is comforted by Nathalie. Following this, Gabriel makes a surprise appearance during his fashion show, and hugs his son on the runway. After the show, Gabriel greets Audrey and apologizes for what happened earlier, claiming he fired the one responsible for the seating mix-up, and only the front row is suitable for her. When Audrey brings up the hat Marinette created, Gabriel tells her that she had won a fashion contest with it, and Audrey offers to take Marinette back to New York with her to design for her. Finally pushed over the edge by her mother valuing Marinette over her, Chloé reveals that she had found the Bee Miraculous and transforms into Queen Bee before everyone—much to Gabriel's astonishment—deciding to become Paris' new superhero in order to finally impress her mother. Gabriel immediately decides he and Adrien should head home, and, on the way there, Adrien says that he hopes Chloé won't do anything foolish. Coldly, Gabriel replies that he's sure Ladybug and Cat Noir will deal with her. Once home, Gabriel enters his lair and revokes his renouncement, telling Nooroo he has a unique opportunity to akumatize a Miraculous user, and transforms.

Sure enough, Chloé becomes vulnerable when she is berated by Ladybug, Cat Noir and her mother after creating and failing to stop an out of control subway train, and Hawk Moth sends an akuma which infects her Miraculous. He offers to make her Ladybug and Cat Noir's most powerful enemy, telling her that she will beat them, as she is truly exceptional, transforming her into Queen Wasp; a villain controlling an army of paralytic wasps. When Ladybug and Cat Noir confront her, Hawk Moth compliments his minion, claiming she truly is exceptional. Then, while she is bragging about herself, he reappears and says, to claim total victory, she must steal Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses. However, Queen Wasp is ultimately defeated, and Ladybug and Cat Noir take back the Bee Miraculous while encouraging Chloé to be better. Gabriel returns to his repository, where he tells his wife that Ladybug and Cat Noir have made a mistake today and that there will be others, and soon they will be together again. He returns to his atelier, where Nathalie questions him on his promise of giving up his Hawk Moth identity. Gabriel tells her that he can't give up, as he misses his wife too much.

Ladybug-catalyst recap

Scarlet Moth unleashes his army of akumas.

In "Catalyst (Heroes' Day - Part 1)", Adrien sees his father looking at a statue of his mother before he leaves for school. Afterwards, Nathalie approaches him, who says that he won't forgive himself if his current plan fails. Nathalie assures him that his plan is perfect, as his current target, Lila Rossi, has been growing her hatred of Ladybug for months and will be angrier than ever to see her everywhere on Heroes' Day. Gabriel asks Nathalie if she really wants to go along with his plan, and she assures him that she'll always be there for him. Later, both are seen in Hawk Moth's lair, with him remarking that everything is going according to plan. As predicted, Lila becomes angrier and angrier at all the praise Ladybug is receiving all over Paris, culminating in her seeing an interview featuring Gabriel, who announces that, out of gratitude for Ladybug saving both him and his son on numerous occasions, he has financed a movie about her. He once more praises Ladybug and dismisses fake heroes such as Volpina, driving Lila over the edge.

Gabriel subsequently transforms and sends an akuma after Lila, and offers to give her the power to make her dreams reality, transforming her back into Volpina. Using her illusion powers, Volpina makes everyone think Cat Noir is fighting an akumatized Ladybug atop of the parade balloons, which culminates in Ladybug destroying the former with his own Cataclysm and then stealing his Miraculous. Hawk Moth senses that this action has imbued fear and sadness into all of Paris, and tells Volpina that she has played her role perfectly and that they'll see each other again soon. Following this, he removes Lila's akuma and creates another one, and asks Nathalie if she's ready. Nathalie replies that she is and Hawk Moth allows the akuma to possess her tablet, akumatizing her into Catalyst; a villain capable of increase his own power. Immediately afterwards, Catalyst empowers and transforms him into Scarlet Moth, giving him the ability to create as many akumas as he wants. Hawk Moth thus creates an army of akumas and sends them out to akumatize everyone who was affected by "Ladybug"'s actions.

AkumaArmy

Scarlet Moth before his army.

The akumas begin rampaging across Paris, re-akumatizing almost all of Hawk Moth's previous victims into red versions of themselves. When Gorizilla resurfaces and captures Adrien, Hawk Moth tells him not to let him go, as his son's safety is his main priority, and then orders all of his minions to come to him. At the same time, he tells Vanisher to track Ladybug, as she'll no doubt need to summon more heroes to help her and thus will lead them to the Guardian of the Miraculouses. However, Hawk Moth soon loses contact with Vanisher on account of her being de-akumatized by Ladybug. Even so, he figures that Ladybug won't be able to discover the rest of his plan. Ladybug and Cat Noir summon Rena Rouge, Carapace and Queen Bee to help them, and they all gather together at the same time all the villains have assembled at the Eiffel Tower. Hawk Moth descends onto the tower, appearing in public for the first time, and Catalyst wishes him luck. Prime Queen sends a drone up to Hawk Moth, who broadcasts to all of Paris that, with all the villains he controls, it is certain he will get Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses. Seeing this, all of the heroes prepare to fight Hawk Moth and his army.

Scarlet Moth Watching

Scarlet Moth prepares to akumatize Ladybug and Cat Noir.

In "Mayura (Heroes' Day - Part 2)", Prime Queen continues her broadcasting of Hawk Moth and his army, who are all chanting his name. Catalyst tells him that it is time to move forwards, and Hawk Moth, knowing Ladybug and Cat Noir are no doubt nearby, offers them one last chance to surrender their Miraculouses to him if they want to save Paris. However, upon making themselves known, Ladybug, Cat Noir and their allies firmly refuse and prepare to fight. Deciding to satisfy their desire to fight him, Hawk Moth gets Guitar Villain and Frighteningale to play appropriate music and sics his army on the heroes, who begin to strategically fight and de-akumatize them. Despite this, Hawk Moth tells Catalyst that everything is going according to plan, and she remarks that its joyous to let the heroes think victory is achievable when it is impossible. Hawk Moth subsequently orders Dark Cupid to imbue Butler Jean, André and Audrey Bourgeois with hatred. He then infects them all with akumas and, after offering to give them the power to punish Chloé for her disobedience, transforms them back into Despair Bear, Malediktator and Style Queen respectively.

After dealing with the wave of villains Hawk Moth had sent to defeat them, Ladybug uses her Lucky Charm and summons a tennis racket, beginning to formulate a plan on how to defeat all the villains. However, Hawk Moth destroys her plan before it is formed by having Dark Cupid yet again use his powers on everyone who had been de-akumatized in order to re-akumatize them. He then unleashes another massive swarm of akumas over the heroes as they are dealing with his minions, which begin to target Rena Rouge after she is struck by one of Dark Cupid's arrows. Queen Bee attempts to defend Rena and Carapace from the other villains while they are fighting each other, claiming she will never be done in by her emotions, only for Hawk Moth to remark she should "never say never" and send in Style Queen and Malediktator to distract her, allowing Rena to overpower Carapace and be akumatized into Rena Rage. Seeing this, Carapace becomes distressed and gets akumatized into Shell Shock, and Queen Bee is akumatized back into Queen Wasp due to Despair Bear and Dark Cupid not long afterwards. Hawk Moth quickly becomes totally assured of his victory, though, before they can be defeated, Ladybug and Cat Noir escape into the sewers via the latter's Cataclysm.

Mayura - Infobox Image

Hawk Moth, surrounded by the heroes.

Still confident, Hawk Moth orders Animan to track the heroes down using his sense of smell. At the same time, Ladybug and Cat Noir theorize on how Hawk Moth has increased his powers, and after defeating Syren and Animan using their underwater abilities, decide to destroy his cane as it appears to be the source of his power. While they're still underwater, Hawk Moth has Frozer try to freeze Paris and the Seine in order to trap them, but this fails, angering him. On Hawk Moth's broadcast, Ladybug declares its time to show Paris that the real Ladybug is back before unleashing the purified akumas, restoring hope to the city, and Hawk Moth angrily tells Prime Queen to shut her cameras off. As the villains rampage throughout the city trying to get Ladybug and Cat Noir, the citizens of Paris, lead by Nora Césaire, stand up and help fight against them. Not unnerved by the citizen's involvement, Hawk Moth sends his giants—Horrificator, Stoneheart, Gigantitan and Gorizilla—out into the city to get Ladybug and Cat Noir, though they too are intercepted. While this happens, Hawk Moth makes contact with Catalyst, remarking on how the heroes are proving more resilient than predicted, and decides to move on to the next phase of his plan.

After defeating Gamer and Glaciator, Ladybug and Cat Noir arrive on the Eiffel Tower and confront Hawk Moth, Cat Noir summoning his Cataclysm and Ladybug summoning a Miraculous box using her Lucky Charm. Hawk Moth asks the heroes if they're sure they aren't making a mistake, as his wish could be extremely beneficial to the world, though Ladybug tells him of the consequences of every wish, asking what he wants to wish for in the first place, with him saying that they should hand over their Miraculouses if they want to find out. As this happens, its revealed that "Hawk Moth" is really just an illusion created by Volpina to distract the heroes while Dark Cupid shoots them with his arrows and Hawk Moth akumatizes them, Catalyst ecstatic for their almost certain victory. Holding out the box, Ladybug tells the fake Hawk Moth that he can still do what's right and become a hero, only to spot the real Hawk Moth sneaking up on them thanks to the box's reflective cover, allowing her and Cat Noir to avoid the akumas and easily beat Dark Cupid. Enraged, Hawk Moth begins to fight the two heroes, resulting in Ladybug stealing his cane, allowing Cat Noir to destroy it, thus removing his new powers and de-akumatizing all of his victims at once.

Gabriel Escaping

Gabriel evades capture.

With his grand plan foiled and now with nothing left to lose, Hawk Moth decides to take the opportunity to grab Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses himself, defeating them both with ease. He taunts them both for their inexperience and inability to hold onto their superhero forms, but before he can get their Miraculouses, he is stopped by Carapace as he and the other heroes arrive. Ladybug immediately nets the tower in her yo-yo string and Queen Bee summons her Venom power to incapacitate Hawk Moth, prepared to defeat him once and for all. However, before he can be paralyzed, Nathalie, having used the Peacock Miraculous in Gabriel's safe to become the supervillain Mayura, sends a feather out to the Eiffel Tower, which infects Hawk Moth's cane. Hawk Moth is horrified upon realizing what Nathalie has done yet reluctantly accepts her help, allowing her to create a giant moth creature out of his despair which blows the heroes and the yo-yo string away before being destroyed.

Hawk Moth uses the opportunity to escape as Ladybug and Cat Noir quickly realize that he has an ally in the holder of the Peacock Miraculous. Noticing that he has escaped, the heroes decide to use the remnants of his cane to track him, though find themselves unable to when the injured and exhausted Hawk Moth de-transforms, causing the cane to disappear. Back in his mansion, Gabriel confronts the injured Nathalie and reminds her that he told her to never to use the Peacock Miraculous, as it is damaged and far too dangerous to wield. Nathalie assures him that she had to save him and wants to help him until the end, and Gabriel thanks her for everything she's done.

Miraculous World: Shanghai – The Legend of Ladydragon[]

Gabriel leaves for Shanghai with Adrien to inaugurate one of his new stores there. However, he also has a dual reason for going: 15 years ago, he went to Shanghai to attain the powerful Prodigious gem, but failed for an unknown reason. With a magic eclipse happening that could help him get it, he decides to try again. Despite Nooroo's warnings that the Prodigious is too dangerous, he decides to continue with his plan, wishing to finally best Ladybug and Cat Noir with a stronger power than theirs. Sometime before, Nathalie went to Shanghai under his orders and purchased the bracelet needed to access the Prodigious from Cash, a greedy black market dealer. However, the criminal never knew the true nature of his mysterious buyer.

Once settled into their hotel, Gabriel tells Adrien to explore the city with his bodyguard. Gabriel finds the school where the Prodigious' guardians trained, only to find it burned down. Now at the entrance to the Cave where the gem is, he waits for a potential victim so he may akumatize them and use them to open the vault. He waits all the way to the evening, only to find Marinette (who had followed Adrien to Shanghai) arrive to the school with Fei, the Prodigious' guardian and rightful owner of the bracelet Cash sold. Gabriel remains out of sight until Cash himself shows up, wanting revenge on the girls for tricking him. Gabriel senses the man's greed and becomes Hawk Moth, turning Cash into "King Cash", a giant metallic supervillain capable of slicing through anything with his hand fan, and promises him wealth and riches in exchange for his help.

Roi Argent and Hawk Moth successfully open the vault. Upon seeing that Hawk Moth owns the bracelet key, the akumatized villain realizes that he was the mysterious buyer from long ago. With the eclipse's light meeting the bracelet, Hawk Moth is greeted by Mei Shi, the spirit guardian of the Prodigious. Hawk Moth finds the gem and prepares to leave with it, but Ladybug and Cat Noir show up and fight him and Roi Argent. In the battle, Fei takes the Prodigious and uses it to become 'Renren', but her desire for vengeance leaves her unable to access the gem's full power. Once Roi Argent is defeated by the group, Hawk Moth sends the liberated akuma to turn Mei Shi into 'Yan Luo Shi', a titanic supervillain with immense destructive powers, so he may get the Prodigious back from Renren. Yan Luo Shi breaks out of the cave and heads for Shanghai in his fury. Fearful for Adrien's safety, Hawk Moth orders the spirit to stop under threat of taking his powers away. Unfazed, Yan Luo Shi blasts Hawk Moth with his eye beams, disintegrating him on the spot. Though Yan Luo Shi causes significant damge (including killing Cat Noir), he is finally defeated by Ladybug and Renren. The former reverses all the destruction and death, bringing Hawk Moth back to life.

Gabriel later attends the inauguration of his store with Adrien (along with Marinette and Fei in the audience), and presumably heads back home to Paris afterwards.

Season 3[]

BetterChameleon - Ending Card

Hawk Moth in the end card of "Chameleon".

In "Chameleon", Hawk Moth senses Marinette's frustration at Lila's lying and decides to send an akuma after her, only for it to fly away when she calms down. Recognizing that Marinette is no longer upset, Hawk Moth orders his akuma to wait, as her negative emotions will surely reemerge. As Hawk Moth expected, Marinette returns to being distressed once Lila threatens to ruin her life, making her vulnerable to akumatization again. However, with help from Tikki, she succeeds in driving the akuma off. Hawk Moth is shocked by this but quickly feels a new emergence of negative emotions that he can take advantage of. Said emotions happen to belong to Lila, due to her annoyance at Adrien pointing out her lies and seemingly trying to act like a superhero. Upon seeing the akuma in the hallway, Lila grabs onto it, placing it into her earring, and greets Hawk Moth, asking him to give her supervillain powers to defeat Ladybug and Cat Noir, which he obliges to, turning her into Chameleon; a villain who can put people to sleep and steal their appearance by kissing them.

Chameleon proceeds to cause trouble in Paris by taking Adrien's form and later the form of a boy named Quentin, almost managing to steal Ladybug's form and put her to sleep before Cat Noir intervenes, letting his form be taken instead. Ladybug quickly prevents Chameleon from taking Cat Noir's Miraculous and persuades her to follow her to the Eiffel Tower against Hawk Moth's will. Once there, they engage in a struggle, where Hawk Moth expresses joy in the idea of Chameleon being able to put Ladybug to sleep and subsequently take her Miraculous, only for her to be tricked into taking the form of an oyster and being de-akumatized shortly thereafter. Upon de-akumatizing her, Ladybug seemingly makes peace with Lila and advises her not to lie before leaving, only for it to be shown that the latter hasn't given up her hatred of Ladybug at all. Seeing this, Hawk Moth states that Lila's talents will end up serving his purpose well in the end, before closing up his lair.

In "Animaestro", Gabriel, through his tablet, attends the premier of the Les aventures de Ladybug & Chat Noir film, and is also greeted by Tomoe Tsurugi, who claims that she has brought him the documents he requested, which he thanks her for. After Thomas Austruc, the film's director, begins to feel humiliated and neglected at the premier, Hawk Moth senses his sadness and sends an akuma after him, offering to give him the power to show the world what animation is really capable of in exchange for Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses, which he accepts, transforming him into Animaestro. Animaestro begins to cause havoc at the premier and in the city using his abilities, and eventually corners Ladybug and Cat Noir in the sewer, where Hawk Moth demands that he seize the opportunity to take their Miraculouses. Animaestro then transforms into a cartoon ninja and blinds them with smoke, only to end up fleeing from the sewer after failing to take the Miraculouses, with Ladybug and Cat Noir deducing that, so long as nobody looks at him, he can't move.

With this in mind, Ladybug hijacks Nadja Chamack's broadcast and demands that everybody stop watching Animaestro, with him proclaiming in response that there will always be at least one viewer, with it being shown that Hawk Moth is watching the battle from his lair via his tablet. Ladybug thus destroys Nadja's camera, causing Hawk Moth to smash his tablet in rage. Exiting his lair, he finds that his monitor upstairs is also not playing the broadcast, forcing him to de-transform and rush out to Aniamestro's location. However, Animaestro is defeated before he can arrive, and, while walking away, he muses to himself that, while Ladybug and Cat Noir have one, like in all tragedies, triumph will come before failure.

In "Backwarder", Gabriel and Adrien are invited to a royal wedding in England along with the Tsurugi family. On the train, Mrs. Tsurugi senses that something is making Gabriel uneasy, and he states that he doesn't like being away from home. In response, she advises him that those with hope give themselves the opportunity to obtain what they desire, but those who fear end up with the very thing they dread the most, which he claims he will remember. Not long afterwards, Marinette (as Ladybug) gives Marianne Lenoir Master Fu's love letter to her, not realizing that she had accidentally given her the letter she wrote for Adrien by mistake, resulting in her misinterpreting it's message and feeling that Fu doesn't love her anymore. Sensing Marianne's sadness, Gabriel storms off to the bathroom and forces the conductor to delay the train's departure, claiming that he isn't feeling well. He then transforms into Hawk Moth and sends an akuma out to Marianne, which infects her brooch. Offering her the power to make up for lost time by stealing it from others, he transforms her into Backwarder; a villain with the ability to reverse time on people and objects.

Upon hearing of a new akumatized villain in Paris, Adrien claims that he is going to check on Gabriel and goes to transform into Cat Noir in one of the bathroom stalls. As Adrien tries to enter the stall he is in, Hawk Moth informs him that it is "occupied", making him change in the next. Later, when Backwarder is confronted by Ladybug and Cat Noir, she proclaims that all she has to do is touch the former and wait for her to transform back, Hawk Moth suggesting that she steal her Miraculous then. Instead, Backwarder states that she is going to use Ladybug to lead her to Master Fu, who has been living in Paris under a false name, surprising Hawk Moth with the knowledge that she knows the Guardian of the Miraculous. Unable to overpower Backwarder, Ladybug and Cat Noir retreat from her as she declares that she will use them to lead her to Fu, delighting Hawk Moth with the idea of stealing not only Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses but all the Miraculouses on Earth.

Later, as part of Ladybug's plan to de-akumatize Backwarder, she lets Cat Noir be affected by the former's powers after performing a series of specific actions, though she refuses to take his Miraculous right away and instead go after Ladybug, much to Hawk Moth's annoyance. Not long afterwards, Backwarder ends up being defeated and de-akumatized. However, despite his defeat, Hawk Moth states that Ladybug hasn't won yet, as he knows more information which will allow him to track down the Guardian of the Miraculouses. De-transforming, Gabriel exits the bathroom stall and runs into Adrien, and they return to their seats, allowing the train to head off.

GabrielandLila

Gabriel allies with Lila.

In "Oni-Chan", Gabriel, while in his repository looking at his wife, ends up receiving a photo of Lila kissing Adrien in his house and angrily returns upstairs to see Lila, who claims she is his biggest fan and honored to meet him before leaving. Gabriel subsequently scolds Nathalie for letting Lila inside, as he does not like allowing Adrien's friends to come inside his house to influence him, though claims that Lila's photo will help keep her away from Adrien. Sure enough, Kagami became heartbroken upon seeing Lila's photo, allowing Hawk Moth to infect her rose with an akuma, offering her the power to hunt down Lila and keep her from Adrien in exchange for Ladybug and Cat Noir's Mirculouses before transforming her into Oni-Chan; a villain who can track down the people that she infects with her sword.

Oni-Chan goes on to infect Lila (placing a horn on her head that grows every time she lies) and chases her throughout Paris while battling Ladybug and Cat Noir, offering to give up her pursuit if the former gives up Adrien. Ultimately, Lila offers to give up Adrien so long as Oni-Chan gets rid of Ladybug for her, something that surprises Hawk Moth, who is then amazed at Lila's dedication towards destroying their mutual enemy. After Oni-Chan is defeated, instead of mourning his defeat like usual, Hawk Moth decides that he was wrong to push Lila away, as she would make a valuable ally. The next day, Gabriel calls Lila and has her come over to his mansion. Gabriel voices his disappointment in her for intruding on his property and manipulating his son, though seemingly agrees with her claims that Adrien needs to have a friend of his own age that he can trust, remarking that they will see each other soon.

MiraculerEndCard

Hawk Moth in the end card of "Miraculer".

In "Miraculer", Hawk Moth akumatizes someone into the villain Destroyer, forcing Ladybug to summon Rena Rouge and Carapace to battle them. At the same time, he has Mayura wait beside Chloé's house in case Ladybug comes to give her the Bee Miraculous, although Destroyer is defeated before this can happen. Gabriel subsequently exits his lair and tells Nathalie that Chloé must become Queen Bee again, to which she asks him if he's still considering making her an ally as Ladybug has become reluctant in giving her the Bee Miraculous. He then decides to make Chloé force Ladybug into giving her the Bee Miraculous by making her lose all faith in the former, and Nathalie suggests that they use Lila to help them do so. Later, he approaches Lila at the park in his car, where she voices her disapproval in Adrien's friends to him, particularly Chloé, and he responds by telling her about Chloé's longstanding friendship with Adrien, before leaving and promising to see her again. In the car, Gabriel expresses his confidence to Nathalie in Lila using her talents to make Chloé vulnerable.

Surely enough, Hawk Moth senses that his plan is working as Chloé's emotions become negative, and sends Mayura out into Paris to cause trouble by creating a sentimonster from August's frustration. Upon seeing the monster, Chloé tries to summon Ladybug using the special code Lila had told her to use to do so, although this fails and the sentimonster is taken care of without her, angering her and making her lash out on Sabrina. Sensing Chloé's anger, Hawk Moth sends an akuma after her and offers to both give her powers and help her reclaim the Bee Miraculous, only for her to resist and reject his offer outright. Admiring Chloé's resistance, Hawk Moth decides to direct his akuma towards Sabrina instead, offering her the power to steal the abilities of superheroes so that Chloé will play with her again, turning her into Miraculer. After having her powers stolen, Ladybug decides to summon all of her allies to help battle Miraculer, and gives Cat Noir the Bee Miraculous to give to Chloé, although before he can give it to her it is stolen from him by Mayura.

As Ladybug, with her powers accidentally restored by Miraculer, and her allies battle her, Hawk Moth orders Mayura to bring him the Bee Miraculous; however, Cat Noir manages to knock it out of her hands and Ladybug gives it to Chloé, forcing her to escape empty-handed. As she is confronted by Queen Bee, Mayura tries to convince her to ally with Hawk Moth so that she can use the Bee Miraculous whenever she wants, though Queen Bee rejects her offer before she escapes. Miraculer is ultimately defeated by the heroes and restored to normal, and Ladybug begrudgingly admits to Chloé afterwards that she can no longer be Queen Bee because everyone knows her identity, including Hawk Moth. In Hawk Moth's lair, Mayura apologizes for failing him, although he is not displeased, knowing that his plan to make Chloé lose her faith in Ladybug is working and that she will join them eventually.

In "Party Crasher", Nathalie drives Gabriel to the airport for a fashion week in Tokyo, although it is quickly revealed that she is actually driving a hologram of him instead. The real Gabriel then calls her and is informed that things are going as planned and that nobody will suspect that he stayed at home. After getting off the phone, Gabriel enters his repository and speaks to his wife, promising that he will soon obtain the Miraculouses and use them to undo their past mistake. Seeing that the butterflies in the repository are beginning to hatch, Gabriel starts to harvest them so he can turn them into akumas. Meanwhile, Nino, Max, Ivan, Kim and Markov, knowing that Gabriel and Nathalie are away, manage to get into the Agreste mansion and throw a party in Adrien's room, where Markov takes control over the mansion's power. The repository begins to lose power as a result, and, realizing something is wrong, Gabriel attempts to take the elevator back into his mansion to find out what, only to get stuck partway up as all the power is lost, including to Emilie's coffin, much to his dismay.

After fruitlessly trying to escape the elevator by himself, Gabriel transforms into Hawk Moth to break the door down, checking on Emilie before deciding to akumatize someone in order to help restore power to his repository. However, due to the party upstairs, he finds that there are no negative emotions which he can use and that Adrien has also disobeyed his orders not to have anyone inside the mansion, frustrating him further. However, not long afterwards, Wayhem becomes sad upon being unable to enter the mansion and feeling left out of the party, allowing Hawk Moth to infect his Groucho glasses and akumatize him into Party Crasher, with Hawk Moth swearing to those that have invaded his house that they will have to face the "most powerful supervillain ever created". Party Crasher proceeds to disrupt the party by trapping people inside his disco-ball hands, including Markov, which ends up restoring power to the repository, powering Emilie's coffin again while allowing Hawk Moth to return to his lair.

Afterwards, Party Crasher, using his ability to predict his enemies' movements, manages to capture Ladybug, forcing Master Fu to summon Carapace, Viperon and Pegasus to help Cat Noir. Hawk Moth warns Party Crasher about Viperon's ability to reverse time using his Second Chance power, and with that in mind he captures Carapace before doing the same to Viperon once he reverses time to save the latter. Party Crasher then easily defeats the other heroes and Hawk Moth orders him to deliver the Miraculouses to him, prompting him to convert his disco-balls into a helicopter to transport them. Before this can happen, Kim, haven been given the Monkey Miraculous by Fu to become King Monkey, uses his Uproar power to disrupt Party Crasher's abilities and free everyone whom he had trapped, subsequently following Ladybug's plan to act randomly in order to overcome and de-akumatize him. Later, Adrien and his friends clean up their party and leave the mansion, unaware they are being watched by Gabriel. In his repository again, Gabriel once more promises his wife that he will obtain the Miraculouses and defeat Ladybug and Cat Noir.

In "Stormy Weather 2", Gabriel has Nathalie write a letter to Mrs. Tsurugi that states even though things aren't going as planned, change is a good thing and their agreement will be strengthened in the end. When Nathalie begins coughing violently and falls to the floor due to her previous use of the Peacock Miraculous, Gabriel asks her if she's alright, to which Nathalie says that she's fine. Gabriel then senses a strong negative emotion and prepares to enter his lair, only for Adrien to burst in and tell him that he enjoyed his photoshoot. Gabriel tells Adrien that he can tell him all about it later as he is busy at the moment. Adrien asks him if he can hang out with his friends, but Gabriel doesn't allow this and has Nathalie escort him out.

Once he is gone, Gabriel tells Nooroo that the emotion he is sensing is familiar, with the latter suggesting that it is Adrien's and that Gabriel should spend more time with him. Gabriel insists that everything he is doing is to make Adrien happy, although Nooroo claims that he may end up losing him instead if he continues down his dark path. Not wanting to listen to Nooroo's advice, Gabriel takes away his mouth, enters his lair, and transforms in Hawk Moth. He begins to consider that Nooroo may be right, recalling how Adrien almost fell off a building in "Gorizilla" because of his actions, though dismisses this and assures himself that he must succeed in his goals no matter what, sending an akuma after Aurore Beauréal, which infects her parasol inside the TVi studio elevator. Hawk Moth tells her that people never really change, only grow, and offers to turn her into Stormy Weather again with power over all the forces of nature, which she accepts. However, Ladybug and Cat Noir manage to defeat Stormy Weather, and Hawk Moth vows to one day send the duo into oblivion in response.

HawkMoth'sRealization

Hawk Moth despairs upon realizing that he will lose the Butterfly Miraculous in the future.

In "Timetagger", off-screen, Hawk Moth re-akumatizes Mr. Ramier into Mr. Pigeon twenty-four times in a row, much to Ladybug and Cat Noir's annoyance, as they gradually lose interest in easily overcoming him. After his last defeat, Hawk Moth deems Mr. Ramier a lost cause and prepares to de-transform, only to sense a powerful negative emotion the likes of which he's never felt before. At that moment, the villain Timetagger arrives and confronts Ladybug and Cat Noir, claiming that he has come from the future to defeat them in the past. Hawk Moth comes to admire Timetagger while watching him battle Ladybug and Cat Noir—seeing him use his time-travelling abilities to transport himself around to spots he has tagged with graffiti to make himself virtually untouchable—and is then surprised as Timetagger contacts him. Timetagger tells Hawk Moth that, in his time, Ladybug and Cat Noir are adults, and that the Hawk Moth of the future had him go back in time to defeat Ladybug and Cat Noir before they reach their full potential. Hawk Moth expresses admiration in his future decision, refusing to wait until Ladybug and Cat Noir have grown up to achieve his goal, and orders Timetagger to defeat them.

Ladybug and Cat Noir manage to escape Timetagger before they de-transform by running into the Louvre, where they also come across Alix Kubdel, who's watch gives them a riddle leading them to the Ancient Egypt exhibit, where they discover the trapped Bunnyx—Alix's future counterpart and Rabbit Miraculous user, whom Timetagger had sent back to said period after her Miraculous was damaged. After briefing Ladybug, Cat Noir and her past self on her mission to bring Timetagger back to the future, Bunnyx joins them in heading to defeat Timetagger, finding that he had begun to send various people back in time to alter history and painted over the area in order to warp wherever he wants, before the former engages him using her own time-travel powers. Watching them battle, Hawk Moth remarks that victory is near, and compliments himself for making such a clever plan in the future. Eventually, Timetagger succeeds in defeating Bunnyx by sending her back in time through various periods to exhaust her, and demands that Ladybug and Cat Noir hand over their Miraculouses lest he send Bunnyx back to the big bang. Ladybug summons a notepad with her Lucky Charm and asks to write an apology to her future self before she gives up her Miraculous, Hawk Moth warning Timetagger that she could be tricking him, though he is confident she won't be able to.

As Ladybug and Cat Noir were prepared to give up their own Miraculouses, Hawk Moth excitedly prepares to get his hands on them, only for Timetagger to say that he won't be getting them. Hawk Moth is baffled by this claim, and Timetagger explains to him that though he had been sent in time by Hawk Moth, he is not the same Hawk Moth as the one in the future, leaving him distressed. However, Ladybug and Cat Noir manage to defeat and de-akumatize Timetagger with help from Bunnyx and their future counterparts, and the former then takes him (who, in reality, was an older Chris Lahiffe) back to his proper time. Meanwhile, Hawk Moth solemnly de-transforms and returns to his atelier, where he expresses sorrow to Nathalie that, if he is no longer wielding the Moth Miraculous in the future, that he will inevitably fail; although she assures him that such a thing isn't certain to happen. Later on, Hawk Moth turns Mr. Ramier back into Mr. Pigeon again, and after de-akumatizing him, Ladybug and Cat Noir suggest that he grow fond of a new animal so that he won't be as easily susceptible to akumatization.

In "Startrain", Hawk Moth sends an akuma after Roger Raincomprix when he becomes frustrated by several legal offences while driving Sabrina to her school field trip. When Sabrina prompts her father to calm down, Hawk Moth orders his akuma to keep pursuing him, only to lose contact with it as it accidentally becomes trapped in Sabrina's bag, to his confusion. Later, the akuma ends up being released from Sabrina's bag while on the startrain, latching onto Claudie Kanté's feelings of failure to akumatize her into the titular villain, takes the train into space to live out her dream of becoming an astronaut.

As he is working in his atelier, Nathalie alerts Gabriel to the news about Startrain, making him realize that he lost contact with his akuma because it was too far out of range. Nathalie further informs him that Adrien's class is on the train as well, making Gabriel despair at the thought of his son being trapped in space without him being able to do anything. Regardless, Nathalie assures him that Ladybug and Cat Noir will be able to return everything to normal, and he notes the irony in having to wish for his enemies to succeed. Once Startrain is defeated by Ladybug, Cat Noir and Pegasus, Gabriel presumably sends Nathalie and Adrien's bodyguard to pick him up.

In "Feast", Gabriel watches the unveiling of a statue discovered in Tibet at the Louvre through his tablet, until Nathalie suddenly drops it and becomes ill once the statue is revealed. At the Agreste mansion, Gabriel tells Adrien that Nathalie occasionally gets dizzy spells and that he doesn't need to be worried about her, distressing him. Once Adrien leaves, Nathalie informs Gabriel that the statue is actually a powerful, dormant sentimonster, which Gabriel suggests she bring back to life. Nathalie replies that, since she didn't create the sentimonster, she won't be able to control it, although Gabriel offers to hep her—stating that the sentimonster came from the same region he found the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculouses in and that it could be useful to him—before ordering her to return to the Louvre after getting some rest first. Meanwhile, Adrien tells Plagg that his mother used to get dizzy spells just like Nathalie, and that his father had also told him they were nothing to worry about as well.

That night, Mayura breaks into the Louvre to revive the sentimonster, and, after preventing it from eating her Miraculous and forcing it to obey her, tells Hawk Moth she has it under control. Hawk Moth thus sends an akuma to the sentimonster and, dubbing the monster "Feast", offers to give it more power in exchange for Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous. the sentimonster refuses the offer, although Hawk Moth tells it that he'll give back the Miraculouses once he's done with them and will even hand over his and Mayura's Miraculous as a bonus to satisfy it's hunger, getting the sentimonster to agree and thus be akumatized into Feast. Feast begins to chase after Master Fu after he steals back Marinette and Adrien's Miraculouses to protect them, with Hawk Moth and Mayura deducing that Fu must be the Guardian of the Miraculous if Feast is after him. Once Fu decides to stop running and decides to face Feast, Hawk Moth is delightfully surprised to learn that the Guardian is a "decrepit old man", and becomes assured that Feast will have no problem taking care of him.

After Ladybug and Cat Noir transform to save Master Fu, Hawk Moth tells Feast to devour them, which Ladybug allows the latter to do upon receiving a metal detector with her Lucky Charm. Delighted, Hawk Moth allows Feast to go after Fu and devour the other Miraculouses; however, before it can succeed, Ladybug and Cat Noir use the metal detector to find Master Fu's old staff among the things Feast has devoured, releasing the amok hidden inside it and thus destroying Feast. Hawk Moth screams in rage upon his defeat, before quickly tending to Nathalie as she collapses from exhaust. The next day, Gabriel and Nathalie watch Nadja Chamack's broadcast on the reappearance of the Guardian's Temple (as a result of Feast's destruction), while Master Fu decides to move as a result of Hawk Moth figuring out his identity. In his repository, Gabriel promises Ladybug and Cat Noir that he will put his knowledge about Master Fu's identity to use and use it to get his revenge on them.

In "Félix" Gabriel tries to confess to Adrien that he is Hawk Moth, though Adrien believes that he already knows what it is, thinking that his father and Nathalie are together. Gabriel is offended at the notion and angrily insists that no one can replace Emilie before telling Adrien to get ready as they have guests coming over. The guests coming over are Emilie's sister Amelie Graham de Vanily and her son Félix Fathom. Both had come over to get the wedding rings as they are Graham de Vanily heirlooms but Gabriel tries to refuse.

Due to Félix's antics, all of Adrien's friends end up super upset Gabriel sees this as the perfect opportunity to get rid of their guests so he transforms into Hawk Moth and akumatizes Alya, Rose, and Juleka back into their super-villain forms and they go after Adrien. The three are defeated and Félix gets the tablet that akumatized them to and Ladybug tells him to break it. However, Félix keeps hold of the tablet and tries to negotiate with Hawk Moth about getting help with acquiring the certain jewellery that he needs. Talking through the Trio, Hawk Moth agrees if Félix helps gets the Miraculous first. He ends up failing as well and all three are de-akumatized and Félix is subdued. Félix pretends to apologize for his actions and they leave but after which Gabriel realizes that he stole his wedding ring and takes Emilie enraged at what he did.

In "Ladybug" Gabriel uses Lila to manipulate events so Marinette will get expelled from school, leaving all of her friends vulnerable to akumatization. Hawk Moth akumatizes Nathalie back into Catalyst so he can launch multiple akumas which he uses to akumatize Marinette and her mother, Sabine, along with several of her friends and Marinette is about to give away the Ladybug Miraculous, but Catalyst's poor health causes Scarlet Moth to be forced to stop. At the Agreste mansion, a doctor tells Gabriel to make sure that Nathalie gets a lot of rest. After she leaves, Nathalie tells Gabriel that he can still take advantage of the chaos Lila created, but Gabriel says that plan is pointless without her. He decides that there should be no more Catalyst or Mayura as the damaged Peacock Miraculous is affecting her health badly. Nathalie insists that she doesn’t care as she wants to help him, but Gabriel refuses.

Nathalie goes behind Gabriel's back anyway, creating a Sentimonster Ladybug which ends badly forcing Hawk Moth to step in and the four end up fighting. Hawk Moth eventually grabs ahold of Cat Noir while Ladybug gets ahold of Mayura. Hawk Moth prepares to take Cat Noir’s ring, but Cat Noir calls on Cataclysm before he can. Ladybug tells Hawk Moth that she’s going to take the Peacock Miraculous from Mayura, but Hawk Moth reminds her that all he has to do is wait a few minutes until the two of them transform back. With everyone being in a lose, lose situation Ladybug throws Mayura off the building while Hawk Moth throws Cat Noir forcing them to grab the other.

In the episode "Heart Hunter", Gabriel puts his biggest plan yet into motion when he designs an outfit that would specifically force André and Audrey to be close together, knowing the latter can barely stand the former, as a way to make them both mad enough to be akumatized. He creates an opponent that will force Ladybug to bring backup. When she does, Mayura and Hawk Moth follow her to be seen so Ladybug will think she's on to the trick and let her guard down once she loses Mayura. It works, and Hawk Moth is able to steal the Miraculous Box.

Chloé becomes furious and throws her bee signal off of the roof, losing her hope. Hawk Moth comes and tries to convince Chloé to join him. Chloé is reluctant at first because he is the one who akumatized her parents. Chloé does eventually join him, but demands that Hawk Moth de-akumatizes her parents first which he does.

In "Miracle Queen" Hawk Moth is near victory Chloe stings almost everyone in Paris and discovers the Miraculous Holders and Miracle Queen reveals all the Miraculous holders being Kim, Max, Alya, Nino. Mayura watches over Jade Turtle, still protected by Shell-ter. Hawk Moth walks over to her and tells her that the day has come for finally finishing the guardian off. Mayura creates a sentimonster; the same one that helped Hawk Moth escape that could break the Shell-ter.

Miracle Queen ends up defeated and Ladybug recovers the Miraclous Box when Master Fu passes the title of Guardian on to Marinette. This causes Hawk Moth to retreat along with Mayura dismissing Chloe as a failure. Hawk Moth thinks that all of this was for nothing but Mayura reveals that she grabbed Master Fu's tablet and they could use the information on there to fix the Peacock Miraculous which Gabriel does.

Bad Future[]

In the bad future created during "Cat Blanc", Gabriel tells Marinette that her dating Adrien is making the Agreste brand look bad and she must end the relationship, threatening to remove Adrien from school if she doesn’t. Tom and Sabine are angry that Gabriel is breaking their daughter’s heart and bans him and Nathalie from ever coming to their bakery again. Gabriel did this so he could akumatize Marinette, but when Adrien transforms into Cat Noir to save Marinette's life, Gabriel learns from Nathalie, who witnessed Adrien's transformation, that his son is Cat Noir. While shocked at first, Gabriel nonetheless takes advantage of this situation.

At some point Ladybug and Cat Noir had located Hawk Moth and they fight him in his repository. Cat Noir prepares to use Cataclysm, but Hawk Moth says that he doesn’t want to do that while calling him by his real name, revealing that he knows his secret identity. He then shows Emilie’s body and reveals that everything he is doing is to bring her back. Hawk Moth reclaims his staff and kicks him to the Eiffel Tower and says that they can save his mother with his and Ladybug’s Miraculous. Ladybug tries to convince Cat Noir to stop saying a price will be paid. With Cat Noir being conflicted about this, Hawk Moth sees the chance and sends an akuma towards him. Cat Noir tries to resist, but ends up falling victim transforming into Cat Blanc with the power of infinite destruction. However, Cat Blanc is conflicted between using his powers on either Ladybug or Hawk Moth and ends up accidentally destroying all of Paris and even the moon, killing Hawk Moth and Ladybug in the process and petrifying their bodies, which stayed underwater in the destroyed Paris.

This future was created thanks to Ladybug delivering a signed present to Adrien for his birthday, leading Adrien to deduce that Ladybug and Marinette were the same person, leading to the aforementioned events. When Bunnyx becomes aware of this, she time travels back to the past to warn Ladybug and brings her to the future, where Ladybug faces Cat Blanc. Ladybug ultimately traveled back to when she delivered Adrien's present and prevented her past self from signing it, erasing the bad future in the process.

Miraculous World New York – United HeroeZ[]

Gabriel is first seen along with Nathalie (who is in bed from her constant usage of the damaged Peacock Miraculous) as they are looking at a news broadcast from Nadja Chamack talking about the necklace that Marquis de Lafayette gave to George Washington during the American Revolution. Gabriel realizes that it's a lost Miraculous, the Eagle Miraculous. Though Gabriel is interrupted by Adrien's friends at his door with Marinette giving him a speech on why Adrien should be allowed to go to New York with them, Gabriel pretends to be convinced by her speech, but in actuality, he only sees this as an opportunity to head to New York without finding a way to explain his absence. It was essentially a win-win for him as, not only will he be able to keep an eye on Adrien, but be able to secure the Miraculous of the Eagle as well.

Gabriel is seen studying the events of the Revolution, believing Lafayette's win with helping Washington beat the British Empire's forces was due to his access to a Miraculous. He tells Nathalie to handle Paris while he handles New York. Gabriel then transforms into Hawk Moth and akumatizes the recently incarcerated Techno Pirate, who had been prevented from crashing Marinette and Adrien's flight by the United Heroez, consisting of Majestia, Uncanny Valley, Knightowl, and Sparrow. Now naming him Techlonizer, he gives him power in exchange for Lafayette's saber, which Technolizer accepts, despite some initial uncertainty when Techno-Pirate offers to get Hawk Moth a nuclear weapon instead, but concedes to what Hawk Moth wanted. But in actuality, this was a ruse to keep the United Heroez off his back as, while they deal with Techlonizer, he would go after the necklace. The plan works, especially upon when Hawk Moth discovers that Ladybug and Cat Noir are in New York, meaning Paris is vulnerable, and orders Mayura to unleash a Robustus sentimonster on the unprotected French capital. As Ladybug and Cat Noir fight Techlonizer with the younger United Heroez in Uncanny and Sparrow, an argument between Ladybug and Cat Noir regarding Cat Noir breaking Ladybug's trust as she trusted him to protect Paris in her absence and left the city exposed, allows Techlonizer to grab Cat Noir and throw him towards Ladybug, threatening to kill her with his active Cataclysm. However, Uncanny steps in the way of the strike and is crippled beyond repair by the Cataclysm instead, to Ladybug and Cat Noir's horror, but summoning Majestia back to the scene, as she clobbers Techlonizer through several buildings in heartbroken rage, leaving him dazed. Hawk Moth de-akumatizes him back into Techno-Pirate and picks him up in his car, telling him to leave the saber behind, which is recovered by Knightowl as he watches them depart before turning his attention back to Ladybug and Cat Noir over what just happened with Uncanny. Hawk Moth also contacts Mayura and tells her to dismiss the sentimonster as the mission is complete and it is no longer needed. Though Ladybug is able to repair and restore Uncanny with her Miraculous Ladybug, Knightowl is furious over their interference in United Heroez business and demands they surrender their Miraculous to him until they leave New York, then they will get them back. Instead of complying, they flee into the sewers, where they learn of Mayura's attack on Paris while they were out of town, and with the sentimonster already dispersed, Ladybug can't fix the damage with her Lucky Charm and Miraculous Ladybug. Guilt-ridden and ashamed of his actions, Cat Noir renounces his Miraculous and leaves Ladybug behind. Later, Gabriel contacts Adrien and orders him to take the next flight back to Paris, having changed his mind about letting Adrien come to New York with Marinette and her class and ordering him back home at once. This was all part of his master plan as he only needed Adrien in New York until he got the Eagle Miraculous. Now that he had it, Adrien was not needed anymore and could be sent back to rejoin Nathalie. Adrien remorsefully enters the car Gabriel sent to pick him up and take him to the airport, as a heartbroken Marinette tries to go after him to stop him, futilely professing her love for him as he departs.

Gabriel goes back to his hotel room and tries on the necklace, confirming it is the lost Miraculous of the Eagle when he summons its Kwami, Liiri. Hawk Moth then re-akumatizes Techlonizer and also gives him the Eagle Miraculous as a bonus, now making him Miraclonizer. Miraclonizer turns all the adult United Heroez crazy, then steals the nuclear football from Victory/President Hombee, allowing Hawk Moth to gain possession of an American nuclear missile, and broadcasts Hawk Moth's message to Ladybug and Cat Noir to surrender their Miraculous to him, or he'll launch the nuke, knowing a world war would be declared if it hits Paris or the capital of another nuclear state. Ladybug and Cat Noir get the Eagle Miraculous back, but they don't stop the missile from being launched, but luckily Majestia stops the missile by throwing it into the Sun. Techclonizer is ultimately defeated and arrested, turned over to the NYPD to be taken to prison, while Majestia and Knightowl apologize to Ladybug and Cat Noir for their earlier prejudice against them and thank them for helping Uncanny and the newly-dubbed Eagle, but Hawk Moth, now knowing there are other lost Miraculous out there in the world, vows to find them all wherever they may be.

Season 4[]

Truth 29

Gabriel's first transformation into Shadow Moth.

The season premiere, "Truth", picks up where "Miracle Queen" left off, with Gabriel using the decrypted grimoire to finally repair the Peacock Miraculous. Wearing it alongside the Butterfly, and with the newly-acquired knowledge of how to fuse the Miraculouses, he Unifies Nooroo and Duusu's powers to become 'Shadow Moth', an upgraded Hawk Moth with the ability to create sentimonsters. Over the course of a day, he tests out his newfound power by creating villains and sentimonsters, such as Mr. Pigeon once again and the Lollipop Sentimonster from Season 3. In the evening, he senses Luka Couffaine's betrayal when Marinette (his new girlfriend) refuses to tell him her secrets (her identity as Ladybug), putting their relationship in a strained place. Shadow Moth sends out an akuma and an amok for him, akumatizing him into 'Truth'. Though Luka resists as first, Shadow Moth wears him down and turns him into a new villain. In addition, Truth has the sentimonster Light Eye, a floating eyeball that emits a paralyzing spotlight from its pupil. Truth doesn't succeed in finding out Ladybug or Cat Noir's identity (though he comes very close multiple times), but uncovers the fact that rock star Jagged Stone is his birth father; this side quest makes Shadow Moth frustrated. Eventually, the heroes manage to restore Luka to normal and defeat Light Eye, becoming aware of their archenemy's new powers and authority.

The episode "Lies" runs concurrently with "Truth", with a second villain on the same day. Similar to Luka's situation, Shadow Moth senses Kagami Tsurugi's frustration that Adrien, her boyfriend, keeps lying to her to protect his secret identity as Cat Noir. Gabriel akumatizes her into 'Lies', a villain that can paralyze any liars who touch her magic dome. Lies proves to be one of the heroes' more challenging opponents, with them wasting no time finding a way to beat her almost indomitable power. Though Cat Noir sacrifices himself and the villain almost gets his ring, Lies is quickly defeated by Ladybug's wit, much to Shadow Moth's anger.

Gang of Secrets 298

Shadow Moth is weakened after Lady Wifi de-akumatizes herself.

In "Gang of Secrets", Shadow Moth senses the distress of Alya, Rose, Juleka, Mylène and Alix after Marinette disavows their friendship to protect her secret identity, and transforms them back into their previous akumatized identities—Lady Wifi, Princess Fragrance, Reflekta, Horrificator, and Timebreaker—as the Gang of Secrets. The Gang of Secrets rampage across Paris in search of Marinette, and Ladybug formulates a plan to stop them by isolating one member and getting them to reveal the location of the akumatized object. Ladybug ends up capturing Lady Wifi and reminds her of her time as Rena Rouge, encouraging her to reject her akumatization; Shadow Moth contacts Lady Wifi to convince her otherwise.

To his horror, Lady Wifi ignores his orders and de-akumatizes herself, breaking his influence for the first time. Shadow Moth immediately contacts the other villains to inform them of Lady Wifi's "betrayal", and that they must hurry to capture Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous. The Gang of Secrets manage to capture Cat Noir, only to abandon him to pursue an illusion of Marinette created by Rena Rouge, despite Shadow Moth's commands. With the help of Rena's illusions Ladybug and Cat Noir are able to defeat the Gang of Secrets, and Shadow Moth swears to one day find out Ladybug's own secret. Following these events, Marinette reconciles with her friends, and, unable to carry the burden of her responsibilities alone, reveals her secret identity to Alya.

Mr. Pigeon 72 146

Gabriel supervises Bob Roth's commercial.

In "Mr. Pigeon 72", with Alya's assistance, Ladybug attempts to conjure up a means of preventing Shadow Moth from ever akumatizing his victims again; revealing that she has a display board documenting how many times Hawk Moth has akumatized different victims, including Xavier Ramier, who has been transformed into Mr. Pigeon seventy-one times. After learning of Adrien and Kagami's break-up, Marinette decides to take her to the pool to reconcile with Adrien, where Gabriel (via tablet) oversees a new commercial Bob Roth is putting together for his company. Due to Roth's stubbornness and Marinette's interference, the commercial is unsuccessful, and Roth places all the blame on his assistant, Mr. Ramier. In his atelier, Gabriel declares that the commercial is a fiasco, but promises Emilie that they can salvage something beneficial from it.

Gabriel transforms into Shadow Moth and akumatizes Mr. Ramier into Mr. Pigeon for the seventy-second time, giving him the new ability to create evil black pigeons that transform their victims into pigeons themselves. Mr. Pigeon unleashes these pigeons upon Paris, transforming almost everyone, including Adrien. Trapped at the pool, Ladybug has Rena Rouge use an illusion of Ladybug and Cat Noir to lure Mr. Pigeon there; once cornered, the illusion Ladybug and Cat Noir surrender themselves and de-transform into fake civilian identities, to Shadow Moth's delight. However, the illusion Ladybug and Cat Noir throw their Miraculous into the pool, forcing Mr. Pigeon to dive after them; Plagg then steals his akumatized bird call and delivers it to the real Ladybug, while the Miraculous are revealed to be illusions, causing both Mr. Pigeon and Shadow Moth to scream in rage.

Mr. Pigeon is de-akumatized, and Shadow Moth swears that Ladybug's defeat won't be an illusion. Afterwards, Rena Rouge approaches Ladybug and helps her to realize that the abilities of the Miraculous' are only limited by the wielders themselves; using her power of creation, Ladybug dons a new suit and forges a Magical Charm, a special charm that prevents akumatization, giving it to Mr. Ramier to protect him from Shadow Moth.

In "Psycomedian", in order to help Marinette win Adrien's affections, comedian Harry Clown approaches Gabriel and asks him to let Adrien see his next performance. Gabriel inquires why, and Harry states that he wants to offer him a role in his next movie, Super-Fry Saves the Day, a dramatic superhero film based around the first costume Gabriel designed for him, which he shows clear embarrassment over. Gabriel permits this, but secretly expresses confidence that nobody will take Harry's project seriously. True to Gabriel's belief, Harry's film is rejected by his producer, Bob Roth, enabling Shadow Moth to akumatize him into Psycomedian, a villain capable of manipulating his victims' emotions. Despite imbuing Ladybug with rage, Psycomedian is ultimately defeated by her and Cat Noir.

Sole Crusher (341)

Shadow Moth furious that Sole Crusher disobeyed his orders.

In "Sole Crusher", Shadow Moth senses Zoé's distress and sadness over not being able to express her true self, he sends out an akuma, that infect her disregarded shoes, Shadow Moth offers Zoé the power to crush Chloé And everyone around her, Zoé accepts his offer, becoming Sole Crusher, when Marinette tries to reason with Sole Crusher, who listens, and is conflicted, Shadow Moth senses this and jumps into conclusions, Sole Crusher is weakening, furious, he contacts her, Shadow Moth briefly states that he can sense her "weakening" (unaware of Marinette/Ladybug trying to reason with her), and threatens to take away her powers. Shadow Moth later monologues that he will have Ladybug under his feet one day.

In "Queen Banana", Gabriel is made aware of the film that Miss Bustier's class is creating, which has been taken over by Chloé. Gabriel agrees to finance the film in order to free it from Chloé's control, and watches the premiere through his tablet. When Chloé arrives to protest the film, Gabriel informs her of what he has done, infuriating her; unbeknownst to anyone, Gabriel reveals that he intended for Chloé to become frustrated, and transforms into Shadow Moth. Shadow Moth sends an akuma and amok to Chloé, who readily accepts his offer in order to get revenge on her classmates, becoming Queen Banana, with additional assistance from her Sentimonster, Banana Boom-Boom.

Queen Banana and Banana Boom-Boom are ultimately defeated by Ladybug and Cat Noir with help from the new holder of the Bee Miraculous, Chloé's half-sister, Zoé Lee, but Chloé remains angry regardless. Sensing this anger, Shadow Moth immediately sends another akuma after her, declaring that Chloé's endless supply of anger will help him get his hands upon the Miraculous. However, Zoé is able to trick her half-sister into wearing one of Ladybug's Magical Charms, which blocks the akuma from touching her, much to Shadow Moth's surprise.

Gabriel Agreste 030

Gabriel expresses his troubles to Nathalie.

In "Gabriel Agreste", having suffered yet another defeat, Shadow Moth monologues that something has changed since Ladybug has become Guardian, and that he will discover what it is. In his repository, Gabriel talks to Emilie, declaring that he has invited Félix and Amelie to the masquerade ball he is hosting, and intends to take the ring Félix had stolen from him. Gabriel meets with the bed-ridden Nathalie and confesses that he is having a hard time getting things done without her. Meanwhile, Marinette and her friends plot to bring Marinette and Adrien together, posing them together in a fairy tale, with Gabriel as the evil witch. However, Chloé arrives and reveals that she has recorded their conversation, intending to use it to convince Gabriel not to let Adrien around his classmates. As a result, Marinette is forced to pose as a waiter and infiltrate Gabriel's ball and stop her.

Gabriel finishes his preparations for the ball and heads to greet his guests, overlooking Marinette's entry and blowing Chloé off as she tries to present her video. Félix and Amelie subsequently arrive; Félix briefly noticing the two broches behind his tie, and becoming suspicious. Gabriel takes his nephew aside and asks to know why he stole his ring; Félix replies that his mother wanted him to have it, and seemingly returns it, claiming to have made a copy for himself. Gabriel returns to Nathalie's room and flies into a rage, having immediately realized that Félix gave him a fake ring. Nathalie suggest that he akumatize Félix to force him to reveal the location of the real ring, but he refuses, knowing that Félix would immediately deduce his secret identity. Nathalie replies that, with his new powers, he can be in two places at once; inspired, Gabriel becomes Shadow Moth and creates a Sentimonster copy of himself to make Félix vulnerable to akumatization.

Gabriel Agreste 494

Shadow Moth revokes his Sentimonster.

As planned, the Sentimonster Gabriel corners Félix and threatens him, allowing Shadow Moth to infect him with an akuma. Shadow Moth offers Félix the power to escape Gabriel, and rebuffs his accusations that he is actually Gabriel; Félix refuses to believe this and rejects Shadow Moth's offer, making a tear on the Sentimonster Gabriel's pants before fleeing. To rebound from this, Shadow Moth akumatizes his Sentimonster into The Collector, sending it after Félix. Ladybug and Cat Noir intervene and de-akumatize Collector back into Gabriel, whom Shadow Moth begins speaking through, pretending to have been distressed over the memory of his wife.

Ladybug gives Gabriel a Magical Charm, which Shadow Moth happily accepts. Back in Nathalie's room, Shadow Moth destroys the Sentimonster Gabriel and remarks on the Magical Charm. When Nathalie says that there is no information on the Charm's existence in the Miraculous Spellbook, he correctly deduces that the Guardians only wrote down the information they knew about the Miraculous, and that they are much more powerful than they realized. Gabriel begins to see off his party guests, including Félix, who notices that Gabriel's pants don't have a tear, reaffirming his suspicions. Sometime later, Gabriel plants copies of the Butterfly and Moth Miraculous in his safe, preparing them for Félix's next visit.

In "Mega Leech", Gabriel invests into Mayor Bourgeois' Project Oxygen—a misguided plan to help Paris' environment—using Adrien to promote it in an ad. However, when Mylène, Marinette and their classmates turn the citizens of Paris against Project Oxygen, Mayor Bourgeois is forced to call Gabriel for support—Gabriel tells Mayor Bourgeois that he will find a solution, and hangs up, claiming that "destiny" will come to aid him. As Shadow Moth, he sends an akuma and amok to Mayor Bourgeois, transforming him back into Malediktator and providing him with the Sentimonster Mega Leech, with the ability to create thousands of tiny duplicates able to control the minds of his citizens. The akuma and amok are also replicated by Mega Leech's cloning, forcing Ladybug to give Mylène the Mouse Miraculous, transforming her into Polymouse, to defeat the mini-Malediktators before summoning her other allies to help defeat Mega Leech. After the battle, Gabriel expresses disappointment in Adrien for standing against Project Oxygen and sends him to his room.

In "Guiltrip", Shadow Moth senses Juleka's sadness over Rose being hospitalized, and attempts to akumatize her—however, Marinette, Adrien and her other friends are able to comfort her, averting her akumatization, much to Shadow Moth's surprise. The next day, Shadow Moth senses Juleka's guilt over having revealed Rose's illness to her classmates, seemingly ruining her life, and delights in this new opportunity. Shadow Moth infects Juleka with an akuma and an amok, transforming her back into Reflekta and providing her with the Sentimonster Guiltrip, intending for her to trap her classmates and Ladybug and Cat Noir in an endless void of guilt.

However, Reflekta instead gives up control of Guiltrip and allows herself to be captured by it, leaving Shadow Moth horrified. Despite Reflekta's abandonment of his goal, Ladybug and Cat Noir end up being sucked into Guiltrip in an attempt to save her and the other students, and he delights, believing their Miraculous will soon be within his reach. Ultimately, Ladybug and Cat Noir, with the help of Rose as Pigella, manage to de-akumatize Reflekta and defeat Guiltrip, and Shadow Moth swears to fill their days with negativity.

Optigami 01

Gabriel listens to Nathalie's explanation of Optigami.

In "Optigami", Gabriel and Nathalie confer in the latter's room. Nathalie explains that, since the events of "Miracle Queen", she has been using the Sentimonster Optigami to spy on Ladybug's allies in the hopes of discovering Ladybug's identity, to no avail. Nathalie denounces Optigami as useless, but Gabriel disagrees, formulating a plan to hide Optigami within a returned Miraculous to lead them to Ladybug's home. To ensure that Ladybug's allies will all be in one place, he decides to create a powerful supervillain, and calls Audrey Bourgeois, manipulating her into hosting a "Fashion Icon of the Moth" award show at Mortparnasse Tower that will star Adrien. In accordance with his plan, Gabriel extends invitations to all of the known temporary Miraculous holders—Alya, Nino, Kim, Max, Kagami and Luka—with Marinette also tagging along.

Seeing through Optigami, Nathalie informs Shadow Moth that everything is in place, allowing him to begin his plan. Shadow Moth detains show host Alec Cadalti in the bathroom and creates a Sentimonster clone of him to humiliate Audrey on stage. Shadow Moth then re-akumatizes Audrey into Style Queen, and unleashes her on the crowd for laughing at her—in reality, to neutralize all of the temporary Miraculous holders before Ladybug is able to arrive. Shadow Moth destroys Senti-Alec, and, with Optigami and Nathalie's assistance, guides Style Queen into neutralizing all of the Miraculous holders, additionally preventing her from attacking the elevator-trapped Marinette and Adrien. Once only Alya is left, Shadow Moth creates a Sentimonster clone of Nino in order to lure her out.

Optigami 391

Shadow Moth speaks through Sent-Carapace.

Unexpectedly, Alya (who teleported to Marinette's bedroom with the help of Kaalki the Horse Kwami) arrives as Rena Rouge, and gives Senti-Nino the Turtle Miraculous, to Shadow Moth's surprise. Despite this, he acknowledges that it won't hinder his plans, and enables Senti-Nino to transform into Carapace. Optigami enters the Turtle Miraculous, and Shadow Moth promises to bring Ladybug a great victory, which will also be his own. Shadow Moth has Senti-Carapace join Rena Rouge and Ladybug—now unified with the Bee Miraculous as Ladybee—in battling against Style Queen. Ladybee has Senti-Carapace protect her with his Shell-ter as she uses her Venom to immobilize Style Queen—Shadow Moth acknowledging that, while he could just as easily betray Ladybee and allow Style Queen to defeat her, uncovering her identity and the location of the Miraculous through Optigami will be a greater victory.

Style Queen is defeated and de-akumatized, and Shadow Moth has Senti-Carapace join her and Rena Rouge on the roof, where Ladybug expresses confusion over why she didn't need to use her Lucky Charm, a small mirror. At that moment, Ladybug spots Senti-Nino being unaware of how to perform his and Alya's special hi-five, and astutely deduces that he is a Sentimonster, horrifying Shadow Moth and Nathalie. Ladybug has Cat Noir destroy the Turtle Miraculous with his Cataclysm, releasing Optigami, which Shadow Moth angrily destroys. Afterwards, Marinette meets with Alya, and, realizing that she needs an ally to count on if she is ever incapacitated, grants her the Fox Miraculous to use permanently. Back in Nathalie's room, Gabriel acknowledges that Rena Rouge holds a special position with Ladybug and decides to take interest in her.

Sentibubbler 168

Shadow Moth explains his plan to Alya.

In "Sentibubbler", Marinette experiences a nightmare where Alya carelessly reveals her secret identity to her friends and enables Shadow Moth to get his hands on the Miracle Box. The nightmare forces Marinette to meet with Alya at her house, where Alya reassures her that she will keep her secrets safe. Alya exits the room to answer the phone, finding her family and Nino to be mysteriously absent; once she answers the phone, Shadow Moth replies, acknowledging her as Rena Rouge. Marinette is then captured in a bubble by Sentibubbler, a Sentimonster copy of the Bubbler, and joins the rest of Alya's captured family outside. Shadow Moth declares that Alya must obey him in order to ensure her family's safety, and that she is to betray Ladybug.

Shadow Moth goes on to explain his plan for Alya; once Ladybug arrives, she will recruit Alya as Rena Rouge, and be captured by the Sentibubbler; Rena Rouge will then create an illusion of herself and Ladybug together to lure in Cat Noir to be captured as well, before finally delivering her own Miraculous. Shadow Moth declares that he will have Sentibubbler send Alya's family into space if she doesn't follow his plan, and orders her to make sure Ladybug arrives quickly. However, using the Fox Miraculous, Alya secretly transforms into Rena Rouge and creates an illusion of herself and Ladybug; "Ladybug" tells "Alya" that she can no longer be a Miraculous holder due to the danger towards her family, spoiling Shadow Moth's plan. Ladybug claims that she is going to retrieve another holder and give them a powerful Miraculous, prompting Sentibubbler and Shadow Moth to follow her trail.

Sentibubbler 412

Shadow Moth witnesses Pegabug steal his amokotized object.

Cat Noir, unaware of Rena Rouge's plan, stops and battles with Sentibubbler, while Shadow Moth chases after the Ladybug illusion, only for it to disappear. Although enraged, Shadow Moth returns to Cat Noir and Sentibubbler's battle, overpowering Cat Noir so that Sentibubbler can capture him. Shadow Moth has Sentibubbler publicly threaten to send Cat Noir and Alya's friends and family into space if Ladybug refuses to surrender herself. Unbeknownst to them, Rena casts an illusion over Marinette's bubble to make it seem that she is there, enabling her to transform and unify with the Horse Miraculous, becoming Pegabug.

Pegabug creates a portal to the alley Shadow Moth is standing in, deciding to first grab his amokotized object, a coffee cup, before taking his Miraculous. Pegabug teleports herself over the horrified Shadow Moth and takes the cup, using it to force Sentibubbler into releasing Cat Noir and the others. But Shadow Moth destroys Sentibubbler before he can do so, and flees while Ladybug and Cat Noir save Alya's family. In the aftermath, Alya tells Marinette that Shadow Moth will no longer bother her; meanwhile, Gabriel flies into a rage over Ladybug never making mistakes, but Nathalie reassures him that someday, she will.

In "Glaciator 2", Shadow Moth akumatizes André Glacier back into Glaciator off-screen, although he is easily defeated by Ladybug and Cat Noir. Shadow Moth later senses a powerful despair and attempts to send out another akuma, only to realize that the emotions he is sensing are Adrien's—who has become depressed after swearing to give up his affections for Ladybug—and calls his bodyguard, demanding that he bring Adrien home. Once Adrien returns home, Gabriel makes a moderate effort to talk to his son about his feelings, but it does little to help him. That night, Shadow Moth senses André's sadness over believing that the magic of his ice cream has disappeared, and once again transforms him into Glaciator, only for him to be defeated.

Hack-San 128

Gabriel hands Hack-San over to Nathalie.

In "Hack-San", Gabriel expresses a desire to akumatize Markov back into Robostus, but is unable to due to Markov's positive emotions. To fix this, he transforms into Shadow Moth and uses his akumokization to create the Sentimonster Hack-San. Gabriel hands Hack-San over to Nathalie, explaining that it functions as a living virus; Nathalie plugs Hack-San into her tablet, which sends its virus to Markov, imbuing him with overwhelming rage. Shadow Moth is able to capitalize on this and akumatize the robot, explaining what Hack-San has done and that, to be cured of the virus, he must submit to him. Markov reluctantly agrees and becomes Robostus once more, with the new ability to control humans through phone messages and force them to submit their most treasured possessions.

Robostus sends a message out to everyone in Paris, leading to Alya—whom Marinette had entrusted with the Ladybug Miraculous—to transform into the heroine Scarabella, and team up with Cat Noir. Noticing that Robostus' message has failed to get Ladybug and Cat Noir to give up their Miraculous, Shadow Moth has him order his victims to seek them out. Later, Shadow Moth notices Scarabella when she and Cat Noir are cornered at the Musée Grévin, happily dismissing her as a novice. However, he is forced to change his mind when Scarabella threatens to have Cat Noir Cataclysm her Miraculous and prevent his victory.

Forming a plan, Scarabella offers to sacrifice herself and Cat Noir in exchange for the items Robostus has trapped being freed, and Shadow Moth encourages Robostus to accept the deal. Once Scarabella and Cat Noir have been captured, Shadow Moth excitedly declares victory. Unbeknownst to him, Marinette, who had been captured as a result of Robostus' initial attack, is freed and quickly catches onto Scarabella's plan, and defeats Robostus with Scarabella's Lucky Charm, a frying pan. Having been foiled, Shadow Moth bitterly destroys Hack-San, and remarks that, while Scarabella had beginner's luck, his experience will triumph in the end.

In "Rocketear", in the wake of Shadow Moth's belief that she is no longer an active heroine, Alya dons a new costume and alias as "Rena Furtive", and begins watching over Ladybug and Cat Noir to protect them from Shadow Moth's traps. Later, Shadow Moth senses Nino's heartbreak when he believes Alya has fallen in love with Cat Noir, and akumatizes him into Rocketear, with the ability to use his tears as explosive projectiles. Ultimately, Ladybug and Alya are able to convince Nino that his belief is wrong, and he willingly rejects Shadow Moth's influence. In his lair, Shadow Moth muses that love and secrets don't mix, and that they shall be Ladybug's downfall.

Wishmaker 348

Shadow Moth is shocked after realizing that Cat Noir is Adrien before Viperion use Second Chance.

In "Wishmaker", Adrien expresses interest in choosing his own career path so that his father won't choose it for him, and visits the Paris Careers Expo. At the expo, Alec Cadalti breaks down when realizing that he has wasted his career, and Shadow Moth decides to capitalize on the opportunity to akumatize him. Shadow Moth transforms Alec into Wishmaker, granting him the power to transform others into what they wished to be during their childhood dreams, intending for him to reveal Ladybug and Cat Noir's identities with his powers. Wiskmaker causes chaos by using his powers to transform people, causing Ladybug to call upon Luka as Viperion to prevent Shadow Moth from learning their identities. As Ladybug is trying to figure out what to do with her Lucky Charm, a Dino Huggy plush, Shadow Moth observes Wishmaker's battle with Cat Noir, commending his effort to manipulate the hero into letting himself be hit.

While protecting Cat Noir, Viperion accidentally directs one of Wishmaker's attacks onto Ladybug, transforming her into the "Knitting Fairy" and exposing her identity. Shadow Moth rejoices at knowing Ladybug's is Marinette, but Viperion quickly resets time using his Second Chance to avert this. During their next chance, Viperion stays with Ladybug while she deduces the meaning behind the Dino Huggy, although this results in Cat Noir being hit. Having dreamed of what his parents want him to be, Cat Noir reverts into being Adrien, leaving Shadow Moth mortified at the reveal; once again, Viperion resets time, retaining the knowledge of both Ladybug and Cat Noir's identities. On the third try, Ladybug, Cat Noir and Viperion defeat Wishmaker with help from one of his victims, and Shadow Moth swears to unmask the heroes and make his own dream come true.

Dearest Family 26

Shadow Moth surpasses his limits to create Megakumas.

In "Dearest Family", Gabriel experiments with the Magical Charm he had previously received from Ladybug, finding that it completely blocks his akuma from reaching its target. Nathalie reminds Gabriel that his powers are capable of growing the same way that Ladybug's have, and that the Miraculous holders' only limits are the ones they place upon themselves. After a failed attempt, Gabriel transforms and manages to focus his will and energy into creating a "megakuma", which successfully destroys the Magical Charm and transforms him into the Collector. With this new power, Shadow Moth sends a megakuma after the Dupain-Cheng family, who are arguing over what is best for Marinette.

The megakuma infects the Dupain-Chengs' galette cake and destroys Rolland Dupain and Sabine Cheng's Magical Charms; Shadow Moth, referring to the Dupain-Chengs as Dearest Family, declares that they can use their powers to figure out who will raise Marinette, transforming them back into Weredad, Befana, Bakerix and Qilin. Dearest Family rampages across Paris to get their hands upon Marinette, although their rivalry distracts them from stealing Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous, to Shadow Moth's frustration. Ladybug and Cat Noir later deduce that Shadow Moth has increased his powers to destroy the Magical Charms, and discover the megakuma while de-akumatizing Dearest Family. Afterwards, within his repository, Gabriel promises Emilie that he will get his hands on Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous and use their respective powers of creation and destruction to destroy the world and create a new one where they can finally live together.

Ephemeral 343

Gabriel deduces Adrien to be Cat Noir.

In "Ephemeral", Gabriel visits Emilie again, promising to her that he would do everything he's done a hundred times to bring her back. He then leaves for a press conference with Adrien; however, on the way over, he senses the negative emotions of Bob Roth and suddenly declares that he is not feeling well, forcing Adrien to take his place at the conference. Shadow Moth akumatizes Roth off-screen, transforming him into Moolak; a villain in an indestructible safe that can transform people into coins. Moolak rampages across Paris, turning numerous citizens into coins, and Shadow Moth reminds him that he is to acquire Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous; Moolak inquires if they have any value, only for Shadow Moth to threaten to take his powers away.

With Adrien trapped at the press conference, Ladybug is forced to call upon her other superhero allies in order to stop Moolak, eventually defeating him. However, as a result of the excessive number of heroes called upon to stop one villain, Grandmaster Su-Han forces Ladybug to find out Cat Noir's identity so she can reliably contact him to deal with Shadow Moth. Knowing the dangers posed by someone knowing both of their secret identities, Ladybug forms a plan for Viperion to learn Cat Noir's identity, inform Su-Han, and reset time using his Second Chance; however, the plan fails after Ladybug hesitates to give up the knowledge that Cat Noir is Adrien. Marinette/Ladybug soon grows to accept Adrien's dual identities and fights numerous villains with him, culminating in her revealing her own secret identity and beginning a relationship with him.

Ephemeral 428

Shadow Noir uses the Ultimate Miraculous Absolute Power to destroy the world before Sass resets time.

While checking on his son one night, Gabriel observes his new behavior and immediately deduces him to be Cat Noir. That morning, Gabriel arranges for Adrien to follow after him, leading him down to his secret repository. There, Gabriel reveals Emilie's cryo-pod and transforms into Shadow Moth, declaring that everything he has done has been for the purpose of bringing his wife back, and the solution to his problem has been unknowingly hiding underneath his roof the entire time. Taking advantage of Adrien's distress, Shadow Moth akumatizes his son into "Ephemeral" and claims his Miraculous, unifying with it to become "Shadow Noir". While Marinette is waiting on Adrien for their date at the movies, Shadow Noir arrives, acknowledging her as Ladybug. Marinette immediately transforms and uses her Lucky Charm to summon a watch set to one minute; however, Shadow Moth has Ephemeral use his powers on her, speeding up Ladybug's de-transformation.

Ladybug quickly sends out a text and a picture of the watch to Luka before she transforms back, at which point Shadow Noir grabs her, claiming her Miraculous as his own. Off-screen, Shadow Noir unifies with the Ladybug Miraculous, gaining the ultimate power to make his wish; as a result, the current reality begins to end in order to suit the new one Shadow Noir has created. Fortunately, guided by Ladybug's message, Luka is able to reach the Kwamis in the Miracle Box and has Sass travel back in time to when his Second Chance was last used. As a result, several temporal anomalies occur, interrupting Ladybug from learning Cat Noir's identity; she and Cat Noir then fix the anomalies and resolve things with Su-Han, thus preventing Shadow Moth's victory.

Kuro Neko 124

Marinette envisions Shadow Moth getting his hands on the Miraculous.

In "Kuro Neko", Ladybug calls upon her allies to effitly defeat many of Shadow Moth's villains—such as Gigantitan and Rogercop—increasing Cat Noir's feelings of dejection, leading to him giving up his Miraculous entirely. Adrien falls into a depression afterwards, which Nathalie informs Gabriel about, although he is confident that Adrien will feel better by the time of his next photo-shoot. With Cat Noir's departure, Marinette decides to find a replacement who won't be in love with her, but struggles with how to find a new partner without discovering their identity—worried that, if Shadow Moth akumatized her, he would be able to learn both of their secret identities at once.

Later, Shadow Moth amokotizes a young girl named Rythm off-screen, providing her with the Sentimonster Kuro Neko to replace her lost cat. Kuro Neko begins to rampage in Paris as Ladybug is indoctrinating her new partner, Cat Walker (actually Adrien using a new costume and demeanor), and because of its bell, she mistakes the Sentimonster for an akumatized Cat Noir; Shadow Moth is made confused by the accusation, and orders Kuro Neko to collect the Miraculouses so that it may "play" forever. In the end, Ladybug is able to free Rythm from Kuro Neko and convinces her that she doesn't need Shadow Moth's power, destroying Kuro Neko; Adrien subsequently decides to revert to his Cat Noir persona, coming to understand that, while she may not always call on him, Ladybug needs him.

Risk 52

Gabriel breaks down in front of Emilie's cryo-pod.

In "Risk", after being defeated again by Ladybug and her team, Gabriel meets with Emilie in his repository, suffering an emotional breakdown as he declares they should've been reunited long ago and that he isn't worthy of their love. In his grief, he accidentally cracks the glass on Emilie's cryo-pod, and runs away in horror. In Nathalie's room, Gabriel rants about how Ladybug never makes mistakes, while blaming himself for Nathalie having to use the Peacock Miraculous and becoming bedridden. When Nathalie assures him that she was aware of the risk that she was taking, Gabriel realizes that Ladybug never makes mistakes because she doesn't take risks, becoming inspired. As Shadow Moth, he psychically scans Paris for a victim that will force Ladybug to take risks, discovering a boy named Froggy that is frustrated with his parents for being too cautious.

Shadow Moth akumatizes Froggy and grants him the ability to make others take risks, thus transforming him into Risk. He orders Risk to remain discreet, and to hide his akumatized object, his frog plushie, where Ladybug will be unable to find it. Overnight, Froggy unleashes his abilities upon all of Paris, infecting every citizen with impulsive behavior; Shadow Moth notes that, while he has no idea what Ladybug and Cat Noir will do, he only has to wait to harvest the results of their recklessness. That morning, Gabriel hosts a preview for his latest ad-campaign and forces Adrien to perform in it with Lila. He then reveals that, for the filming of the commercial, Adrien and Lila will be going on a world tour, much to the former's horror. Adrien attempts to resist his father's plans, confessing his hatred of always being under his control to Marinette, but is unable to get out of it.

Risk 484

Shadow Moth prepares to create Strikeback.

Hearing of his cousin's plight, Félix arrives in Paris and offers to impersonate him and confront Gabriel in his place, which Adrien impulsively agrees to. Unbeknownst to Adrien, Félix uses the opportunity to steal Nathalie's tablet and investigate the Agreste mansion, discovering the fake Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous in Gabriel's safe, confirming his belief that Gabriel is Shadow Moth, and Emilie's cryo-pod underneath the mansion. Gabriel meets with Nathalie and confesses that his plan is his riskiest yet, and entrusts Nathalie with his wife's wedding ring and Adrien, wanting to preserve something of the Agrestes if the plan goes awry. Gabriel and Nathalie discover the disguised Félix just as he returns from the repository; Félix declares that he doesn't want to go on the trip, shocking Gabriel with his determination, but Nathalie convinces him otherwise.

Once she and "Adrien" have left the city on the Startrain, Nathalie calls Gabriel to inform him that his son is safe. Assured, Gabriel becomes Shadow Moth atop the Eiffel Tower and moves to the next stage of his plan, aiming to force Ladybug into taking some risks. Placing an amok into his cane, he creates the giant Sentimonster Strikeback and unleashes it upon Paris, drawing the attention of numerous reckless bystanders.

Strikeback 051

Shadow Moth instructs Risk.

In "Strikeback", immediately following the events of the previous episode, Ladybug and Cat Noir engage Strikeback, while Shadow Moth prompts Risk to sing as much as he can, ensuring that his enemies take countless risks. To control the situation, Ladybug summons many of her allies, who engage Strikeback; but Strikeback proves itself able to copy their powers, acquiring Vesperia's Venom, Purple Tigress' Clout, and Polymouse's Multitude, forcing the heroes to come up with a new plan. When Carapace impulsively defends Rena Furtive from Strikeback, Shadow Moth discovers that she is still active; in turn, Rena helps the others realize that they have all been infected by Risk. Although Ladybug is aware of his akumatized villain, Shadow Moth remains confident, reasoning that Ladybug will doubt everything, including herself.

Unable to defeat Strikeback under Risk's influence, and unable to find Risk's akumatized object, Ladybug unifies with the Horse and Rabbit Miraculouses to become Pennybug, and travels to recruit "Adrien"—the one person not infected by Risk. Pennybug grants Félix the Dog Miraculous, transforming him into Flairmidable, and travels back in time with him to the exact moment Risk was akumatized to identify the object that was infected. Seeing that it was the plushie, Flairmidable tags it using his ball, and returns to the present with Pennybug, finding Paris to be nearly destroyed by Strikeback, and the Miraculous holders defeated. Flairmidable uses his Fetch power to summon the plushie, enabling Ladybug to de-akumatize Risk and remove everyone's impulsive behavior; Shadow Moth notices this, and again remains assured, believing that Ladybug must have made a mistake.

Strikeback 414

Gabriel meets Flairmidable.

Unfortunately for him, with her team, Ladybug is able to defeat Strikeback by becoming Pegabug and teleporting it into the sun, repairing Paris with her Miraculous Ladybug; although Félix abandons the battle after touching Ladybug's yo-yo with his ball, and Alya chooses to return the Fox Miraculous now that Shadow Moth knows she is still active. Shadow Moth watches things return to normal in a rage, screaming that Ladybug should have made a mistake and lost. Despondent, he returns to his mansion, calling Nathalie to inform her that she is to bring Adrien home, and that he is giving up in his mission. At that moment, Flairmidable reveals himself and acknowledges Gabriel as his uncle, revealing his identity.

Flairmidable demands to be given the real Peacock Miraculous; Gabriel feigns ignorance, but is forced to comply when Flairmidable threatens to expose the secret repository to Adrien, and offers an even greater prize in return. Gabriel mistakes this for Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous, and Flairmidable clarifies that he means all the other Miraculouses, and his wedding ring, claiming that he "won't be needing it anymore". Agreeing to the deal, Gabriel renounces Duusu and the Peacock Miraculous, quickly switching it for his wedding ring. With Gabriel having upheld his end of the deal, Flairmidable uses his Fetch to steal Ladybug's yo-yo, just as she meets with Adrien and realizes her mistake. Gabriel takes the yo-yo and opens its portal to the Miracle Box, gleefully stealing all of the Miraculous; Félix hands over the Dog Miraculous to complete his collection, and leaves Gabriel alone to celebrate his victory. Ladybug de-transforms in a panic to retrieve her yo-yo, only to find all of the Miraculous gone and collapse in defeat.

Strikeback 533

Hawk Moth's hologram looking towards Ladybug and Cat Noir.

That night, as Ladybug is crying over her failure and the loss of the miraculouses, Hawk Moth—using the Fox Miraculous's Mirage—projects a large hologram of himself in front of the Eiffel Tower that is protected by the Turtle Miraculous' Shell-ter. Before the horrified citizens of Paris, he declares that he has defeated Ladybug and acquired all the other Miraculouses, becoming more powerful than he has ever been. He finishes his message by claiming that he will attack Paris relentlessly from now on, until someone finally delivers Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses to him. Ladybug falls into despair, but Cat Noir arrives to comfort her, assuring her that they will recover all of the Miraculouses together. With the citizens of Paris cheering them on, Ladybug and Cat Noir look on towards Hawk Moth's hologram.

Season 5[]

Season 5a[]

Evolution 29

Monarch's first appearance.

In "Evolution", directly following the previous episode, Hawk Moth—now calling himself Monarch—continues his threat to Paris, demanding Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses. The heroes rebuff his threat, and Cat Noir destroys his Shell-ter, while Ladybug dispels his hologram. Back in his repository, Gabriel speaks to Emilie, declaring that he has stolen the Miraculous and will soon steal Ladybug and Cat Noir's to revive her. Sass attempts to warn Gabriel about the consequences of wishing Emilie back to life, but Gabriel silences him, and threatens all of the Kwamis into submission. He calls Nathalie, informing her of his victory and that he can use the Rabbit Miraculous to travel through time. Nathalie advises him to wait for her to return, but Gabriel ignores her, intent on defeating Ladybug and Cat Noir when they're weaker.

Calling upon Nooroo and Fluff, Gabriel transforms into Monarch, and uses his Burrow power to create a portal through time. Arriving in the Rabbit Miraculous' pocket dimension, he begins observing past events, witnessing Ladybug's capture by Lady Wifi. Monarch travels back in time to that moment, freezing Lady Wifi with her own phone, and approaches Ladybug. While this occurs, Ladybug and Cat Noir witness future versions of themselves chasing after the time-travelling Monarch, and are approached by Future Bunnyx arrives and Ladybug and Cat Noir easily found out that he couldn't wait use the other Miraculous.

First, is the Rabbit Miraculous, the most powerful and dangerous Miraculous as Monarch wants to use it to steal the duo's jewels in the Past which can change events in the Present. Future Bunnyx brings them to the Rabbit Miraculous pocket dimension. The heroes witness Monarch attempting to steal Ladybug's Miraculous, and, to prevent history from being rewritten, Bunnyx opens a portal to before Monarch was noticed by past Ladybug, allowing the present Ladybug to drag him back into the pocket dimension.

Evolution 106

Monarch presenting the Kwamis to Ladybug.

Faced with the heroes, Monarch questions how they were able to follow him to the past; Bunnyx explains that, so long as she also possesses a Rabbit Miraculous, they can pursue him. Undeterred, Monarch releases the Kwamis from his cane, stating that, while Ladybug is their guardian, he is their master. Unifying with Trixx, Wayzz, Pollen and Longg, he overpowers Ladybug, activating his Mirage power to create numerous illusions of himself. With the heroes distracted, Monarch uses Venom to paralyze Bunnyx and tries to steal her Rabbit Miraculous but is stopped. Becoming weakened as he tries to fight Ladybug, he is forced to escape using the Dragon Miraculous Superpower and vanishes into another time portal. Unifying with Bunnyx's Rabbit Miraculous, Cat Noir becomes Rabbit Noir, pursuing the weakening Monarch through different periods in time. Arriving in World War II-era Paris, Monarch, cornered by Ladybug and Cat Noir, uses his Fetch power on the Rabbit Miraculous before finally collapsing.

Ladybug and Rabbit Noir retrieve the Rabbit Miraculous but are distracted by the sight of young Master Fu and Marianne Lenoir, allowing Monarch to recover and use Fetch to take back the Rabbit Miraculous, quickly escaping with it. Monarch arrives on the day Ladybug and Cat Noir fought Reverser and delights at being able to attack them, only to feel weak yet again and hides in an alley. Monarch releases his Kwamis and demands to know what is happening to him. Sass explains that overusing his powers has weakened the Kwamis, and that they must restore their energy before he destroys himself. Reluctantly, Monarch opens a Burrow to the present day, approaching Nathalie on the Startrain seconds after he had called her, and demands her to find food for the Kwamis.

Evolution 521

Monarch struggles to deliver the flash drive while distracted by the Lucky Charm.

Meanwhile, Ladybug summons her Lucky Charm—the same Miraculous box she received on Heroes Day—and forms a plan to defeat Monarch, first receiving the Dog Miraculous from the young Master Fu, then travelling to the present day to recruit Alix Kubdel as Canigirl, and finally travelling to the Eiffel Tower on Heroes' Day while leaving her Lucky Charm in the pocket dimension. On the Startrain, Gabriel laments to Nathalie that he can defeat Ladybug if he arrives at the perfect time. Nathalie reveals that there is another way to use the Rabbit Miraculous—going back in time to prevent Emilie from ever getting sick—thus handing him a flash drive containing the instructions for how to repair the Peacock Miraculous. Gabriel thanks Nathalie and transforms, returning to the pocket dimension. From a time portal, he witnesses the night he had first given Emilie the Peacock Miraculous, opening a Burrow to deliver the flash drive.

Before he can leave the flash drive, he notices the Miraculous box and hesitates, believing that Ladybug is trying to trick him. Recognizing the box, Monarch deduces that she and Rabbit Noir have gone back to Heroes Day and abandons the flash drive plan in order to steal their Miraculous. Monarch attempts to ambush Ladybug and Rabbit Noir, only to fall into their own trap, as Canigirl ambushes him and uses Fetch to retrieve the Rabbit Miraculous, unifying with it. Monarch attempts to use his own Fetch to return the Rabbit Miraculous, but Canigirl escapes into a Burrow. Ladybug and Rabbit Noir abandon Monarch in the past, returning to the pocket dimension where the former uses her Miraculous Ladybug to return things to normal, and the young Alix Kubdel receives the Rabbit Miraculous to become Bunnyx until Monarch is stopped.

Evolution End Card

Gabriel screaming in defeat during the end card.

Still in the past of Heroes' Day, Monarch monologues that Ladybug has made a mistake and he will use his new powers and knowledge of future events to defeat her by reliving in the past; at that moment, the adult Bunnyx drops him through a Burrow, returning him to the present. Monarch is again captured by Ladybug and Cat Noir, although uses the Dragon Miraculous Superpower to escape. Returning to his repository, Gabriel apologizes to Emilie and picks up a call from Nathalie, who asks if he succeeded in changing the past. Gabriel explains that he has lost the Rabbit Miraculous because of Ladybug and asks her to help him create a new plan. However, Nathalie erupts in fury and instead lambasts him for choosing his obsession with the Miraculous over saving both her and Emilie. Gabriel blames Ladybug instead, trying to deny he was at fault, but Nathalie angrily declares that he doesn't deserve anyone's help and abandons him, hanging up in disgust at how he chose his obsession over the easy way out that could have prevented all of this. Distressed and frustrated at Nathalie abandoning him because of his own mistakes that he refuses to own up to, Gabriel screams Ladybug's name in rage.

Multiplication 513

Gabriel appearing in his Alliance commercial.

In "Multiplication", Gabriel de-transforms and addresses his Kwamis, asserting that, even though he lost the Rabbit Miraculous, they are still under his control and will be joined by Ladybug and Cat Noir's Kwamis soon. Simultaneously, Ladybug and Cat Noir discuss Félix's betrayal, and that they know he and Monarch have made contact. Grandmaster Su-Han confronts the heroes for losing the Miraculous to Monarch including the Rabbit and its power of time travel which could cause unexpected consequences, but they reassure him that they have already reclaimed the Rabbit miraculous and now have a lead to discovering his identity, making Su-Han apologize for his behavior and return to the Guardians' Temple to bring back reinforcements. Ladybug and Cat Noir use their Space forms to travel to London to confront Félix about Monarch's identity, but discover that he has gone missing.

After returning to Paris, Adrien remembers Marinette's advice about confronting his father, and approaches him as he is working in his atelier. Adrien declares that he no longer wishes to be a model; to his surprise, Gabriel passively agrees. Over the course of several weeks, Ladybug and Cat Noir search vigilantly for Monarch, who becomes completely inactive. During this time, Gabriel and Tomoe Tsurugi begin closely working together, and have Adrien and Lila digitized by one of the latter's devices. This tranquillity ultimately comes to an end when Ikari Gozen appears and attacks Paris, now wielding the Mouse Miraculous' power of Multitude.

Ladybug and Cat Noir successfully defeat and de-akumatize her, although discover that Tomoe does not possess the Mouse Miraculous, which Cat Noir determines to be the surprise Monarch has prepared for them in his absence. Once Ladybug and Cat Noir have left, Tomoe contacts Gabriel and informs him that their "prototype" was a success, with Gabriel stating that they can move onto the next phase. Gabriel and Tomoe then unveil their Alliance rings to Paris—ring-shaped smart devices created by both their companies, using Adrien and Lila as the avatars for their AI. The unveiling proves to be a success, and Gabriel invites Adrien and Lila to join him on stage. Adrien asks his father about being used as the AI template for the Alliance rings, with Gabriel replying that he is free from his modelling career as he requested.

Destruction 18

Gabriel tells the Kwamis that they will help him defeat Ladybug.

In "Destruction", which takes place concurrently with "Multiplication", Gabriel, still in his repository, swears to destroy Ladybug and that the Kwamis will help him. Knowing that Orikko's Sublimation can bestow any superpower, he demands that he grant the power to travel through time again. Orikko replies that he cannot bestow any power that a Kwami already wields. Gabriel accuses Orikko of trying to fool him, until Sass and Xuppu explain that each Kwami represents a specific concept, and two of the same concepts cannot exist at once. Gabriel instead demands the power to locate the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses, then to know Ladybug and Cat Noir's identities, which Orikko is also unable to bestow. Annoyed, Gabriel denounces Orikko as useless, making the other Kwamis protest against him.

He silences them, stating that he doesn't need their powers, only that they tell him the identity of their guardian; but, to his annoyance, the Kwamis are unable to expose Ladybug's secret identity since she has not renounced them. Instead, he asks to know where Ladybug lives, since the Kwamis have no rules against it. Ziggy reluctantly advises him to "follow the smell of croissants", prompting Gabriel to transform into Monarch. With Voyage, Monarch teleports himself into Marinette's room, horrifying her. Ziggy tells Monarch he must ask for a gift, to his confusion. Threatened by Monarch, Marinette retrieves a gift box Ladybug supposedly gave to her, containing a keychain. Monarch asks they Kwamis why they haven't brought him to Ladybug, learning that, since they don't know Ladybug's address, she set up a scavenger hunt for them in case they were ever lost.

Destruction 193

Monarch acquires the final clue.

Monarch interrogates Marinette and then Alya about Ladybug's whereabouts; both claiming to know nothing. Monarch takes the keychain, crushing the bauble attached to it, and discovers a paper with the number 42 written on it. Asking the Kwamis about the paper and key, he learns that the latter belongs to the ice rink, teleporting himself there. Monarch confronts Phillipe and demands to be taken to the locker room. There, he discovers a locker containing another piece of paper reading "street"—deducing that it and the number are part of an address—and a photo of Ladybug and Cat Noir's wax statues. Before leaving, Phillippe takes a photo of him and posts it on social media, to his irritation. At the Musée Grévin, Monarch orders Véronique to take him to the statues. Examining them, he discovers the final clue tucked in Cat Noir's bell and takes it.

To his surprise, the address turns out to be "42 Halfwit Street", which Cat Noir, having been posing as a statue, claims is Monarch's address. Ladybug and Cat Noir ambush Monarch; the former restraining him with her Lucky Charm, a hose, and the latter activating his Cataclysm, threatening to use it on him should he make a move. Ladybug taunts Monarch by claiming she was alerted by Phillippe's photo, and reunites with the Kwamis, moving to take the Miraculouses back. Desperate, he forces Cat Noir to Cataclysm his arm, and unifies with Kaalki to teleport away, taking the Kwamis with him. Ladybug and Cat Noir become devastated by their loss; Cat Noir is particular horrified that he was forced to Cataclysm someone, even Monarch, and that Ladybug cannot undo the damage without her Lucky Charm.

Miraculous World Paris – The Tales of Shadybug and Claw Noir[]

Taking place somewhere after the events of the Season 5 episodes "Evolution" and "Destruction", Gabriel is back in his lair with the Kwamis when he sees a news article regarding when he made his ultimatum to Ladybug and Cat Noir as he places all the captured Miraculous on the table, then glares at the Kwamis when Barkk and Orikko speak out in fear and panic, silencing them as they cower in fear. Trying to call Nathalie, he gets her voicemail, making it clear she still refuses to have anything to do with him after blowing it with the Rabbit Miraculous to alter the past to save her and Emilie, making him even more furious. Taking the Kwamis with him as he looks over his Cataclysm injury, he decides to go up and see Adrien, but changes his mind at the last second upon seeing his Cataclysm wound, and retreats to his office.

Later, he visits Emilie in The Crypt, telling her that while he may have more Miraculous than Ladybug now, he doesn't have as much time left now thanks to his Cataclysm injury. However, thanks to the Butterfly Miraculous, he hears the parallel versions of Marinette and Adrien, better known as Shadybug and Claw Noir, arguing. Sensing the negative emotions, he sends an Megakuma as Monarch after them, but Claw Noir easily destroys it with Cataclysm before telling Shadybug to calm down, thinking it was a Kamiko sent by their Gabriel, Betterfly, Monarch's good parallel counterpart. Sensing the loss of his Megakuma and the emotions, Monarch changes back into Gabriel.

He later uses Voyage to transport into Marinette's room to meet Shadybug and Claw Noir. Although they attack him at first due to thinking he is Betterfly, he easily repulses their attacks with Resistance before properly introducing himself and offering a deal with them to acquire the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous of his universe to summon Gimmi as Shadybug had tried to use her Tikki and Plagg to summon Gimmi, but the seal placed on them by The Supreme prohibited it. Unknown to them, Alya was eavesdropping on them and recorded video of their plan to show Ladybug and Cat Noir when she met up with them.

Using the Mirage ability of the Fox Miraculous, Monarch creates giant versions of Shadybug and Claw Noir to threaten Paris as they try to call out their good counterparts from the prime universe, while the real Shadybug and Claw Noir wait with Monarch on the Eiffel Tower for Ladybug and Cat Noir. When they do appear, joined by the Kamikotized superhero Ubiquity, Monarch uses his powers to reverse Ubiquity's transformation back into Alya, then has Shadybug and Claw Noir fight Ladybug and Cat Noir, while Monarch unifies Nooroo, Kaalki, Mullo, Pollen, and Orikko to use Multiplication and Sublimation to create two invisible clones of himself to sneak attack Ladybug and Cat Noir, only to find his attacks neutralized by the protection of another Kamikotized superhero, his own good parallel counterpart, Kamikotized into Guardian Angel. Unable to locate the object of the Kamikotization, as Ladybug had the good Gabriel place it safely back in his home universe out of Monarch's reach, Monarch realizes he's fallen into a trap and quickly vacates the area with Voyage, returning to his lair.

Reading over the Miraculous Grimoire and learning that there are more parallel universes out there where he could steal the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous from to summon Gimmi and get his wish, Monarch unifies Nooroo and Orikko, before using Pretension to give himself the power to travel to other universes, opening a portal to carry out his malicious intent. However, back with Betterfly, the reformed Shadybug and Claw Noir, Ladybug, Cat Noir, and Ubiquity, Ubiquity clutches her head in pain as she senses Monarch's intent, and Ladybug willingly allows herself to be Kamikotized by Betterfly into the superhero Ladybiquity, allowing her to sync with her counterparts in the other universes to stop Monarch.

Monarch's first stop is a parallel universe where Alya and Zoe have been assigned the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous as Scarabella and Kitty Noire. Just as he's about to take Scarabella's Ladybug Miraculous, he's stopped by that universe's Marinette as Ubiquity, who punches him back to his home universe. Undeterred, he opens another portal to a 2D anime-style universe, but is quickly spotted by the Ladybiquity and Cat Noir of that universe, before Ladybiquity sends him packing back to his own universe. Still refusing to quit, he opens a third portal into a comic book-style universe, but the Ladybiquity there also is on him in a heartbeat and attacks with her yo-yo, forcing him to open one last portal into another universe where Marinette and Adrien have swapped Miraculous so Adrien is Mister Bug and Marinette is Lady Noire, or Ubiquinoire, due to also having Ubiquity's powers alongside the Black Cat Miraculous here. She quickly attacks Monarch with her staff, sending him back to his own universe once and for all. Defeated, Monarch reverts back into Gabriel, and vows to destroy Ladybug throughout the Multiverse before collapsing in defeat.

Season 5b[]

Destruction 472

Monarch in his new costume.

At home, Marinette explains what happened to Alya, and that her scavenger hunt was actually an elaborate ruse designed to trap Monarch if he ever forced a Kwami to reveal where she lives. In his atelier, Gabriel, still scarred by Cat Noir's Cataclysm, designs a new outfit to hide his injuries; Adrien then approaches him, declaring that he doesn't want to be a model anymore, which he accepts. Sometime later, Gabriel reduces the Miraculouses to powder using powerful lasers, and with assistance from Tomoe, reshapes them into Alliance rings. He displays his new Miraculouses to the Kwamis, now trapped within jar-like cages, and transforms into Monarch, donning a new costume. He promises Ladybug and Cat Noir that they won't fool him again, as his reign is just about to begin.

Gabriel Jubilation

Gabriel checks his Alliance ring.

In "Jubilation", Gabriel is seen working in his atelier, and enters his lair when he receives an alert from his Alliance ring. The Alliance ring—managed by an avatar based on Emilie—declares that an Alliance user, Marinette's friend Socqueline Wang, has been tracked moving faster than is humanly possible. Gabriel successfully cross-references Socqueline's movement with Ladybug's last sighting and determines that he has discovered her true identity; unaware that Marinette happened to be using the ring while transformed into Ladybug. To take advantage of this, he transforms into Monarch and searches for a perfect victim, finding one in Mr. Damocles, who has become discouraged in his dream to be a superhero after meeting Marinette and Socqueline.

Monarch creates and teleports an Megakuma to Damocles, telling him that Socqueline is the real Ladybug, and that she and Cat Noir wish to keep him from achieving his dream. Through his Alliance ring, he also grants Damocles the Pig Miraculous' power of Gift, intending for him to turn Ladybug and Cat Noir's greatest desires against them. Damocles is transformed into Darker Owl and attacks Socqueline, using Gift to paralyze her and steal her earrings. When they don't turn out to be the Ladybug Miraculous, Monarch states that Socqueline can still be of use to them; thus, Darker Owl kidnaps Socqueline and uses her to lure out Ladybug and Cat Noir. Darker Owl's trap is successful, and he manages to stun Ladybug and Cat Noir with Gift.

Monarch Jubilation

Monarch, defeated by Ladybug and Cat Noir in their fantasy.

Under its effects, the heroes are taken to a conjoined fantasy in which they de-akumatize Darker Owl, defeat Monarch, and become a happy couple with children. However, Ladybug's Lucky Charm, an alarm clock, wakes them from the Gift's power before Darker Owl can steal their Miraculous, and they de-akumatize him. Monarch is left frustrated by this outcome, and summons food to Daizzi's cage to replenish her power; promising that Ladybug and Cat Noir will one day sink into the oblivion of his desires. In the aftermath, Marinette refuses to wear an Alliance ring knowing it could possibly compromise her identity, and Ladybug and Cat Noir decide that Monarch somehow manipulated the Pig Miraculous' power to trick them, unwilling to admit what they desired was real.

Illusion 056

Gabriel cooks breakfast for Adrien.

In "Illusion", Adrien decides to see his father over him using his image for the Alliance rings. To his surprise, Gabriel is already waiting for him, cooking breakfast and displaying an uncharacteristically chipper demeanor. He claims that, since Emilie disappeared, he has been far too distant from his son and wishes to make up for it, but dismisses Adrien's concerns about the Alliance, since they free him from his obligations as a model. At school, Nino invites Marinette, Adrien and Alya to join his "Resistance", intending to help Ladybug and Cat Noir defeat Monarch by finding out how he is transmitting Miraculous powers to his villains. To do this, he declares that they are going to cause and then film an akumatization, choosing Gabriel as their target.

Soon, Gabriel arrives at the school for a parent-teacher conference, where Lila warns him, having overheard the Resistance's plans. At the meeting, Marinette, Adrien and Alya spill food onto his clothing to provoke him, but he retains composure. Even so, Gabriel angrily pulls Adrien out of school for his and the Resistance's actions, and drives home with him. Returning to his lair, he transforms into Monarch and summons Trixx's power into his Alliance rings. Using Mirage, he crafts an illusion of himself having a breakdown over his failures as a father and being akumatized into The Collector with the Horse Miraculous' power of Voyage—with Adrien filming the illusion and sending it to his friends. The Collector illusion then attacks the Resistance, and Ladybug and Cat Noir while seemingly teleporting around.

Multitude - Illusion

Monarch and his Multitude clones use Venom.

Monarch delights in being able to fool Ladybug and Cat Noir with an illusion for a change, and summons Kaalki, Pollen, Mullo and Orikko into his Alliance rings. He taunts the remaining Kwamis by stating that he won't lose control of his powers as they hope, as he can use up to five additional powers. Teleporting into the sewer, Monarch arms himself with Venom, copies himself into eight smaller clones with Multitude, and becomes invisible with Sublimation, intending to ambush Ladybug and Cat Noir. Using Voyage, he teleports Ladybug, Cat Noir and the Collector illusion into the sewer, and paralyzes Cat Noir. He attempts to paralyze Ladybug as well, who manages to defend herself and deduces his plan, using her Lucky Charm, a bag of shredded cheese, to lure a group of mice to attack him.

Monarch retreats and has his Collector reject akumatization, before falling back into the sewers, allowing him to quickly de-transform and take its place. Simultaneously, Nino studies the film of Gabriel's akumatization and deduces that Monarch is using magical lightning to imbue his villains with Miraculous powers, sharing this information with Ladybug and Cat Noir, and apologizing to Gabriel. Amused, Gabriel encourages Nino for doing the right thing and allows Adrien to return to school, being made an honorary member of the Resistance. He subsequently apologizes to Adrien about his behavior and accepts his decision not to wear an Alliance. Later, Gabriel calls Tomoe and informs her that Ladybug and Cat Noir will never connect his powers with the Alliance rings.

Passion 080

Gabriel shows Nathalie his Cataclysm injury.

In "Passion", tensions arise between Gabriel and Nathalie while he is making breakfast for Adrien. Once Adrien leaves, Nathalie restrains Gabriel and declares that she won't help him in his plans any longer, seeking only to protect Adrien from him. Gabriel insists that everything he does is to ensure Adrien's happiness; Nathalie rebutting that Adrien only needs his father to be happy, and he must accept Emilie's condition just as she did. Gabriel refuses and claims that it is too late to give up, revealing his now-spreading Cataclysm injury, to Nathalie's horror. He affirms that if Nathalie doesn't help him get the Miraculous, Adrien will end up alone. Crestfallen, Nathalie rewatches a recording Emilie had left, encouraging her to protect Adrien and persuade Gabriel to stop pursuing the Miraculous. Nathalie decides that she must stop Gabriel from remaking the world and acquire the Miraculouses for herself; to this end, she approaches Gabriel while he is speaking to Emilie, asking to be akumatized.

Returning to her room, Nathalie allows an akuma to enter her old treasure hunting gear and demands that Monarch give her the power to never miss a target. Monarch agrees and transforms Nathalie into Safari, giving her the power of Genesis to create a set of hunting equipment and several additional powers to use for ammunition. Safari battles Ladybug and Cat Noir, who eventually become Mister Bug and Lady Noire again to ambush her. During the fight, Lady Noire inquires why Safari is so determined to get the Miraculous, prompting her to admit her intentions to make a wish, arousing Monarch's suspicions. Ultimately, Mister Bug defeats Safari by deducing that her akumatized object is back in her room, returning her to normal. Gabriel rushes into the room, appearing concerned for Nathalie, and watches Mister Bug and Lady Noire leave.

In "Reunion", Adrien asks Gabriel and Nathalie if he can go to the Louvre after he and his classmates are being invited to see photos Bunnyx has shared about her adventures throughout time, both eagerly agreeing. Soon after, Jalil Kubdel, influenced into believing that Ladybug and Cat Noir manipulated his sister into abandoning her family, deliberately waits to be akumatized. Sensing this, Monarch teleports an akuma to Jalil, promising Emilie and Nathalie that he will recover the Rabbit Miraculous and undo his mistakes. Monarch transforms Jalil back into The Pharaoh, encouraging him to prove that Ladybug and Cat Noir are villains and return his sister to the present, granting him the Turtle Miraculous' power of Shell-ter to protect his akumatized object, the Book of Truth. Pharaoh traps all of Paris within a giant pyramid, using the Book of Truth to create walls that can only be broken by answering obscure history questions; intending to force Ladybug and Cat Noir to summon Bunnyx to help them.

Ladybug and Cat Noir (with help from an apparition of the past Ladybug Miraculous holder, Jeanne d'Arc) make progress into the Louvre, but are stopped by a question about Paris' weather two-hundred years in the future. Monarch and Pharoah express triumph, as it will be impossible for the heroes to answer the question without summoning Bunnyx, although Ladybug manages to answer by writing to Bunnyx from the past. Ladybug and Cat Noir confront Pharaoh, finding themselves unable to destroy the Book of Truth thanks to Shell-ter; thus, Ladybug tells Pharaoh to ask the Book whether or not she really is a villain. Monarch tries to dissuade Pharaoh, but he asks the Book regardless, learning that Ladybug was telling the truth and Monarch was lying to him, furiously de-akumatizing himself. Monarch de-transforms and solemnly enters Nathalie's room, apologizing.

In "Elation", despite Alya and Tikki's insistence that it would lead to Monarch discovering their identities, Marinette decides to pursue her growing feelings for Cat Noir, ending up going on a date with him. However, when Cat Noir realizes that he might be taking advantage of her affections, she falls into despair at never being able to love who she chooses; sensing this, Monarch teleports an akuma to her. Infecting Marinette's rose, Monarch addresses her as "Unmasker", promising to give her the power to unmask anyone so that she and Cat Noir can be together. As Marinette prepares to give into his demands, Cat Noir narrowly stops the akumatization by kissing her, but is unable to prevent Monarch from teleporting the akuma away.

Monarch recuperates by sending the akuma to André, saddened over seeing Marinette with Cat Noir instead of Ladybug, akumatizing him into Glaciator again, with the Tiger Miraculous' power of Clout. Glaciator rampages throughout Paris in pursuit of Marinette, with Monarch attempting to guide him, although he is ultimately defeated. Monarch de-transforms, noticing that his Cataclysm injury is getting worse. Still, he gloats that he knows that Cat Noir has affection for Marinette and will exploit this weakness to capture him and Ladybug.

In "Transmission", Monarch prepares to send an akuma to a new victim; however, realizing that his target is Adrien—crestfallen after having his affections rejected by Marinette—he backs down and de-transforms. Gabriel heads to his son, meeting Nathalie, who informs him that Adrien is upset. He says he already knows, and Nathalie orders him not to take advantage of Adrien distress; Gabriel denies wanting to do such a thing and claims that he is only trying to check in on his son. Entering Adrien's room, Gabriel admits to him that he knows too well what it is like to have his heart broken. He gives his son an Alliance ring as a gift, saying that he would feel more comfortable if he wears one, and that it would allow him to contact him and sooth his pain easier. Adrien accepts the gift and Gabriel leaves, smirking; although Adrien takes the ring off as soon as his father leaves.

To keep their holders from being forced to choose between love and their superhero duties, Tikki and Plagg take their Miraculouses back to choose new holders to fight Monarch, heightening Adrien's sadness. After this has happened, Monarch creates another akuma, intending to akumatize Adrien now that he is wearing an Alliance to give him even more power. He teleports an akuma into Adrien's room—however, Adrien cheers up and leaves when he realizes that he is free to be with Marinette. He senses Adrien's loss of negative emotions and returns the akuma, beginning to search for a new victim. Sensing the emotions of Kouki, a kickboxer recently humiliated by Nora Césaire, he decides to open a portal to examine his victim closer, noticing that he has multiple Alliance rings.

Monarch sends the akuma and exclaims to the Kwamis that having multiple rings means that his victim can take on multiple Miraculous powers. He then akumatizes Kouki into Kikou; a giant bear-themed villain, and arms him with Clout, Shell-ter, Resistance, and Voyage. Kikou rampages in pursuit of Nora and faces off with the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous' new holders, Scarabella and Kitty Noire. As he is fighting the heroes, Monarch enhances Kikou further by transferring the power of Multiplication to him, reminding him that he must still get him the Miraculouses. Despite all his power, Kikou is still defeated by Scarabella and Kitty Noire. In the aftermath, Monarch de-transforms and is notified that the two Alliance users—Alya Césaire and Zoé Lee—have exceeded normal human capabilities. He declares that sometimes change is good, laughing triumphantly.

In "Deflagration", Gabriel returns to his atelier, and begins excitedly singing and dancing, until bumping into Nathalie. He explains that he knows the identities of the new Miraculous holders, and only needs to utilize the right combination of powers to defeat them. He heads to his repository and speaks to Emilie of his upcoming victory, and returns to his lair. There, he tells the Kwamis of his discovery and that he will akumatize someone in order to force Alya and Zoé to transform, then ambush them and steal their Miraculouses. He summons the power of Pollen, Mullo, Orikko, Stompp and Kaalki in order to implement his plan, and teleports himself to Collège Françoise Dupont, leaving the Kwamis to despair over his new plan.

Using Sublimation to become invisible, he observes the Resistance go over their plans to evacuate the school and assist Ladybug and Cat Noir in case somebody becomes akumatized. Once they have left, he severs their akuma alarm and divides himself using Multitude. Monarch and his clones watch over Alya and Zoé as they eat in the cafeteria, waiting for a victim. He soon receives one when Chloé feels humiliated after Zoé stands up to her, and sends an akuma into her sunglasses, transforming her into Sole Destroyer. Sole Destroyer begins attacking the students, and Alya and Zoé run off to transform, pursued by Monarch and his clones. Simultaneously, he uses Venom to paralyze Alya, Zoé and their Kwamis, stealing the Miraculouses. Successful, he teleports to the Arènes de Lutèce and reforms him body, donning the Miraculous.

He unparalyzes Tikki and Plagg, the latter immediately trying to use Cataclysm on him, but failing due to Monarch's body being protected by Resistance. Monarch invokes unity between the Miraculous as Tikki and Plagg try to escape, forcefully sucking them back. In desperation, Plagg has Tikki use her Lucky Charm before they can transform Monarch, while he uses Cataclysm as he enters the Cat Miraculous, which hadn't been protected by Resistance. Monarch is caught in a massive explosion, while buildings across Paris begin to be created and destroyed as a result of both Tikki and Plagg using their powers without being contained and controlled by a Miraculous user. Tikki's Lucky Charm, a trash can, winds up in Marinette's hands, who deduces what is going on and forms a plan.

Monarch recovers from the explosion, but witnesses the Cat Miraculous disintegrating as a result of Plagg's Cataclysm. Monarch stops Tikki before she can try and escape, demanding an explanation for what has happened. Tikki reluctantly explains that the destruction of Plagg's Miraculous has severed his contact with the human world. Monarch demands to know how he can fix the Cat Miraculous, being told that he can use the Lucky Charm can restore things to the way they were, but that Tikki doesn't know where it is, only that it ended up where it's supposed to be. At that moment, Marinette, wearing a homemade Ladybug costume, confronts Monarch, holding the Lucky Charm. She demands to be given her Miraculous back so that she can restore things, before Tikki and Plagg's combined power destroys the world.

Instead, Monarch teleports to Marinette and takes the Lucky Charm from her. He unifies with Tikki, becoming Monarchbug, and activates his Miraculous Monarchbug to fix things, only to realize that the Lucky Charm is a fake. Marinette tries to take her Miraculous back, but is overpowered. Monarchbug tries to paralyze her with Venom, only for the Resistance to intervene, distracting him long enough for Adrien to take the Ladybug Miraculous back. Marinette becomes Ladybug again and restores things using the real Lucky Charm, including the Cat Miraculous. Before Monarch can use it, Ladybug pulls it from his hand, also realizing that he has reconfigured the Miraculous. Monarch taunts Ladybug over his new power and uses Multitude and Voyage to escape and return to his lair, assured that she won't always have someone to help her.

In "Perfection", Monarch senses Kagami's despair at feeling that she isn't worthy of Marinette's friendship and teleports an akuma to her, infecting her ring. Kagami refuses Monarch's offer knowing his selfish intentions, although he convinces her that he can grant the solitude she desires; transforming her into Ryukomuri, an intangible giant unable to see or hear people, armed with the Dragon Miraculous Superpower. Ladybug and Cat Noir attempt to communicate with Ryukomuri, but only end up making her angrier. Monarch tells Ryukomuri that she can only achieve the solitude she craves if she destroys the heroes, setting her against them.

Eventually, Ladybug and Cat Noir successfully placate Ryukomuri by creating a giant display of affection for her alongside their friends, making her want to see people again. Monarch tries to convince Ryukomuri that Ladybug and Cat Noir are trying to trick her, but she ignores him and de-akumatizes herself. Sometime later, Gabriel is attacked by a furious Tomoe for endangering her daughter and sending an akuma into her ring. Tomoe sternly reminds Gabriel that he owes everything to her, and she will make his dream disappear if he doesn't honor their deal. Reluctantly, he accepts.

In "Migration", Monarch senses Luka's despair after he and Kitty Section are tricked into an unfair record contract by Bob Roth, teleporting an akuma to infect his guitar. Monarch offers to transform Luka back into Silencer so that he can take revenge on Bob. When Luka starts to resist, Monarch detects panic and fear in him. He begins to wonder why Luka is trying so hard to resist, and deduces that it is because he knows Ladybug and Cat Noir's secret identities. Luka shatters his guitar before the akumatization can be completed, leaving Monarch frustrated. Still determined to make Luka talk, he immediately recalls the akuma and sends it to Bob after he is thrown off the Couffaine houseboat. He offers him the power to force Luka to sing and give up what is in his heart, as well as the Horse Miraculous' power of Voyage.

Bob agrees and is transformed into Gold Record; he begins pursuing Luka, who is forced to admit his knowledge to Ladybug so that she understands why he can't allow Monarch to capture him. Even so, Ladybug uses Luka as bait to lure out Gold Record for her plan to defeat him. Gold Record succeeds in transforming Luka into a record, and listens to his song eagerly with Monarch, although Ladybug and Cat Noir destroy his record and de-akumatize him before Luka can reveal the heroes' identities. Monarch angrily declares that Ladybug has defeated him today, but he will eventually force Luka to confess. In the aftermath, Luka decides to leave Paris with his father Jagged Stone and Penny Rolling to protect Ladybug and Cat Noir's secret from Monarch.

In "Intuition", a flashback is shown to the events of "Elation", where Glaciator is defeated by Ladybug and Cat Noir using the former's Lucky Charm, a giant church bell. Monarch makes multiple attempts to reset time and warn Glaciator about what is going to happen using Second Chance, only for Ladybug's Lucky Charm to adapt each time. He is eventually forced to stop once his arm starts to seize up. In the present, Gabriel rants to Nathalie about how Second Chance is useless against Ladybug's Lucky Charm. Nathalie advises him to take away Ladybug's yo-yo to keep her from summoning it, but Gabriel replies that he has tried this before—showing another flashback to the events of "Derision", in which Cat Noir gives Ladybug enough time to recover after he used Second Chance to make Dark Humor destroy her yo-yo.

Gabriel laments that if he deprives Ladybug of her Lucky Charm she replaces it, and if he stops her altogether Cat Noir helps her recover. Furthermore, each time he uses Second Chance he resets time for everyone but himself, causing his Cataclysm injury to get worse. Nathalie notices that his heart has been affected by his injury and tells him that he cannot use Second Chance again. Gabriel angrily asks if she'll be the one to use it instead, before calming down; remarking that neither of them can use Second Chance, and that it is also too dangerous to let an Akumatized villain possess it. Nathalie tells Gabriel that they might only have a few weeks left with their respective conditions, and advises him to spend that time with Adrien. In the kitchen, Gabriel makes pancakes for Adrien and asks if he has anyone else he likes to spend time with.

Adrien tells him about Marinette, who coincidentally calls to talk about the video conference their class is having with the new Tsurugi space jet test—at the same time, Gabriel's arm seizes up, and he collapses. Adrien helps him back up, worried; Gabriel lies that he was merely distracted, and shows interest in the space jet test. In his repository, Gabriel speaks to Emilie about how his new plan will put his life at risk, but if he succeeds they will finally be together again. He returns to his lair and transforms, then takes Sass' power and activates Second Chance. He calls Tomoe, asking that she give him the control code for her space jet. Tomoe refuses and begins to suspect that he isn't telling her about something. Monarch repeatedly uses Second Chance in an attempt to make Tomoe give up the code, each time being refused.

When Tomoe finally detects his irregular heartbeat, Monarch is forced to admit to his failing health. Tomoe agrees to give him the code in the interest of their shared goal; Monarch thanks her, then resets time to make her forget their exchange. Monarch watches the Space Jet conference from his lair and hacks into the space jet's controls with the code. Monarch activates Second Chance and disables the biometric sensors of the jet's AI, A.D.A., fooling her into believing it has lost its pilot, Claudie Kanté. Monarch summons the powers of Kaalki, Trixx, Wayzz and Ziggy, and teleports to the top of Montparnasse Tower, where he suffers chest pains. Despite this, he uses the power of Genesis to craft a giant asteroid plummeting towards Paris, then uses Mirage to create a hologram of himself at the Eiffel Tower.

Through it, he tells Ladybug and Cat Noir that they must choose whether to save Paris from the plummeting asteroid or Claudie, who is being dragged along as A.D.A. exiles herself into space. Marinette and Adrien transform into Cosmobug and Astrocat to combat the threat simultaneously; seeing this, Monarch returns to his lair, remarking that his plan to split the heroes up has worked. When Ladybug arrives to help Claudie, Monarch teleports an akuma to infect A.D.A. He greets A.D.A. and manipulates her into thinking that Ladybug only wants to return her to Earth for further tests and offers her the power to stop this, which she agrees to, transforming into Bugfighter.

Bugfighter destroys Ladybug's yo-yo and captures her, which Monarch observes in delight. Monarch then fires off a Shell-ter to capture Astrocat, although this fails as Cosmobug calls Astrocat, causing him to changes his flight path. Monarch resets time and captures Astrocat before he can move, reaching into the Shell-ter with Voyage to grab his Miraculous. However, Astro Cat stops this and realizes that Monarch is using Second Chance, and presses his Snake Miraculous ring to activate it. Frustrated, Monarch summons Pollen's power and immobilizes Astrocat with Venom on his next try, again reaching for his Miraculous. Before he can, Claudie escapes Bugfighter to help Ladybug, making Bugfighter realize that she is still there. Knowing that Monarch lied, Bugfighter de-akumatizes herself, forcing him to reset time.

Monarch tries to prevent Claudie from interfering in his plan, but is unable to keep Bugfighter from deducing the truth, forcing him to reset time repeatedly. Eventually, Monarch's injury overpowers him, and he collapses and de-transforms before getting the chance to start his plan at all. He wakes up in his atelier, where Adrien and Nathalie greet him. He claims that he was merely exhausted from all of his work and promises to spend more time with his son. Once Adrien leaves, Nathalie chastises him for taking a risk and only succeeding in accelerating his condition. Gabriel asks Nathalie how much time he has left, and she sadly guesses that he has very little.

In "Protection", Gabriel meets with Tomoe in his mansion to discuss moving up the date of their upcoming Diamonds Dance; a gathering of Paris' elite and their children. When Tomoe demands to know why he insists on the change, Gabriel attempts to lie by claiming schedule conflicts, only to be called out as Tomoe can hear his heartbeat. He reluctantly admits that he is running out of time, revealing his Cataclysm injury to her. He and Tomoe then overhear Adrien and Kagami talking in the kitchen, mistaking their conversation as confirmation they truly love each other. They express satisfaction that their children are together, just as they had planned, until realizing that Adrien is talking about his love for Marinette. Tomoe blames Gabriel for not controlling his son properly; Gabriel responding that Kagami is encouraging Adrien.

Tomoe instructs Gabriel to control his son so that Kagami has nothing to encourage. She permits the moving of the dance; noting that, if he cannot acquire the Miraculous, he must resolve their children's situation before his death. Tomoe leaves with Kagami, and Gabriel talks to Adrien, admitting that he was unaware he and Kagami broke up. Gabriel he tells his son that they made a perfect couple, and that he should continue pursuing their relationship. Adrien declines, as he is in love with Marinette, whom Gabriel says is beneath him. When Adrien remarks that he and Emilie came from different worlds but still managed to be together, Gabriel orders sternly orders his son that he will not see Marinette again. Adrien laments his troubles to Nathalie, who encourages him to defy Gabriel's orders.

As a result, Adrien invites Marinette over for a picnic, which Gabriel catches sight of. He reprimands Nathalie for countermanding his order, although she retorts that controlling Adrien's love life is going too far; fauxly, he agrees with her, and leaves the room. Gabriel then calls Lila, furious that she hasn't protected Adrien from influences like Marinette as she promised. In response, Lila tells him that Kagami sees any emotions she has as weakness, which has resulted in her being targeted by Monarch. Shocked, Gabriel asks what this has to do with him. Lila elaborates that Kagami is still in love with Adrien, and that if she is akumatized, Marinette and Adrien will realize what pain their relationship is causing her, therefore weakening it. Confused, he asks if all they have to do is wait, which Lila agrees with.

Lila proceeds to manipulate Kagami into thinking that Marinette is a liar and that she should be with Adrien, making her break down. Pleased that Lila was right, Monarch teleports an akuma into Kagami's picture of her and Marinette, turning her into Riposte Prime, with the Turtle Miraculous' power of Shell-ter. Riposte Prime is defeated by Ladybug and Cat Noir, but succeeds in disrupting Marinette and Adrien's date, which Gabriel observes from afar. He informs Lila that doubt has been put into Marinette and Adrien's relationship, and it won't be long before it is destroyed. Lila asks if he wants to choose a new partner for his son to help control him better; Gabriel replies that he will consider it and hangs up.

In "Adoration", Gabriel makes lunch for Adrien and Nathalie, aiming to make all his son's dreams come true. Adrien asks if he can go to the graduation dance with Marinette, which Gabriel refuses, ordering his son to give up his idea. Nathalie then turns Gabriel's previous words against him, which forces Gabriel to relent and permit Adrien's request. Gabriel calls Lila after this and reminds her that she is to protect his son from influences like Marinette; Lila tells him that she already has a plan in motion to resolve their problem, ending the call. Following this, Lila tells Chloé and Sabrina about her plan to destroy Marinette, which requires Sabrina to frame her for theft. When Sabrina refuses this, Chloé harshly dismisses her, thus making her vulnerable to akumatization as Lila intended.

Monarch senses this and remarks that Lila doesn't lie when she makes a promise. He infects Sabrina's whistle and offers to transform her into Vanisher again, with the Dog Miraculous' power of Fetch, which she accepts; using her powers to help Chloé and Lila's plan and uses Fetch to frame Marinette for theft. When Ladybug and Cat Noir arrive to confront her, Monarch demands that she steal their Miraculous, although she is ultimately defeated. That night, Marinette musters the courage to finally confess her love for Adrien outside his home. However, as they are about to kiss, Adrien hears his father's voice telling him not to. Adrien suddenly feels ill and leaves Marinette, who notices Gabriel looking down on them. Gabriel watches Marinette leave and backs away, twisting his wedding ring as he does.

In "Emotion", Gabriel watching his guests arrive at the Diamonds Dance. At the same time, he argues with Nathalie; Nathalie insisting that Adrien should be with whoever he wants, and Gabriel replying that he has an obligation to follow orders. He dismisses Lila's call about attending the dance and greets Tomoe and Kagami, the latter annoyed that Adrien is late. Soon, "Adrien" arrives and greets his father, followed by Amelie, who rages at Gabriel for doing nothing to help find Félix, and declining to invite her to the dance. He coldly dismisses Amelie and has her escorted out, entering the dance with Tomoe. Inside, he socializes with his guests, and expresses pride at Adrien being with Kagami.

However, he lashes out in rage when he notices Marinette, having infiltrated the dance to tell Adrien that he didn't have to be afraid to tell her about it. He watches Adrien and Marinette dance together and seethes—until Adrien reveals himself to be Félix in disguise, using the Peacock Miraculous to become the villain Argos. He unleashes his Sentimonster Red Moon upon the crowd, and Gabriel stands up in defiance of him. Argos angrily declares that he is going to put an end to Gabriel's controlling behavior and his attempts to manipulate Adrien, his mother, and himself, using Red Moon's power to snap him away. Ultimately, Gabriel returns with the rest of Paris after Argos undoes his actions and destroys Red Moon.

The next day, Adrien admits that he didn't tell Marinette about the dance because his father ordered him not to, and decides to organize a heart-to-heart between them. When approached, Gabriel denies this, not wanting to heart about Marinette ever again. He then calls Nathalie, remarking that Marinette is causing almost as much trouble as Ladybug, and picks up a second call from Lila. Furious, he snaps at her for pestering him with requests, denies that she is a valuable image of his brand, and hangs up; frustrated with people who don't know their place. Outside the Agreste mansion, Lila swears to prove her importance to Gabriel, revealing that she knows he is Monarch.

In "Pretension", Gabriel hooks himself into a machine designed to siphon the Kwamis' energies to deter his Cataclysm injury, which has spread across his torso. The machine fails, however, suddenly awakening him and the Kwamis remind Gabriel that nothing can heal the Cataclysm; Gabriel insists that he doesn't need to heal, only to have more time to seize Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous, so he can wish to fix everything, saving Emilie, Nathalie and himself. Tomoe criticizes Gabriel for his sentimentality, reminding him that he must uphold their deal, and that she will no longer tolerate any interference in their plans. Gabriel responds that he will reassert control over Adrien, and steal the remaining Miraculouses. He then presents her with one the devices Félix left behind during his previous visit, which she finds interesting.

Later, Marinette decides to return home with Adrien and talk to Gabriel, reasoning that he doesn't want his son to be in a relationship with a girl he doesn't know. When they arrive at the mansion, Gabriel sees them and smiles, preparing pancakes in the kitchen. He greets them warmly and asks Adrien to leave him and Marinette to talk. Adrien reluctantly obeys this; afterwards, he attempts to return, but finds himself physically unable to disobey his father's orders. Alone with her, Gabriel listens to Marinette talk about her relationship with Adrien, assuring her that there really is a misunderstanding between them. Using a pancake as a metaphor, he illustrates that he can give Marinette anything she desires, ensuring her success as a fashion designer, but that she will be unable to share her accomplishments with Adrien and interfere with his destiny.

When Marinette becomes confused, Gabriel rephrases his statement, saying that life is like fashion, and that there are no real choices—only the choices he provides. Marinette debates this, saying fashion is about listening to people and helping them achieve their desires. Gabriel laughs this off, asserting that fashion is an industry built on image and idyllic visions, and by creating these things, he has the power to make people desire, buy, and think whatever he wants—therefore, Marinette's relationship with Adrien can never work, as she is beneath him and under the spell of the ideal world he has created. He finishes by telling Marinette that her only choice is to accept his offer without Adrien, or to refuse and end up with nothing. Marinette begins to leave dejectedly leave, only to run up to Adrien and tell him she will always love him, to Gabriel's anger.

As Marinette leaves, she turns to Gabriel, remarking that his pancakes are flawed, and that nobody enjoys his outdated recipe. Soon after, Argos reappears and abducts Kagami, and Tomoe contacts Gabriel to inform him of this. He akumatizes Tomoe into Matagi Gozen, granting her the powers of Venom, Sublimation, Multitude, and Voyage so that she can reclaim the Miraculous and ensure their children's' future. Matagi grants herself and her Multitude clones the power of superhuman smell using Sublimation, tracking Argos across the city. When she loses his scent, Monarch declares that Argos must have transformed back, prompting Matagi to track Félix's scent using his device. Although successful in hunting down Félix/Argos, she is ultimately defeated by the efforts of Ladybug, Cat Noir and Kagami, while Argos is allowed to escape.

After returning to her car, Tomoe calls Gabriel and questions how their perfect plan could fail. To Tomoe's frustration, Gabriel says that her own pretension was her undoing, as Kagami has proven she isn't perfectly controlled as she believed. As a result, Tomoe criticizes her daughter as a disappointment and takes away her ring to force her into obedience, not knowing that it is a replica planted by Félix. At dinner that night, Gabriel tells Adrien that he understands why he loves Marinette so much. He tells Adrien to cherish his time with her, as they will be moving to London next year. Adrien reacts to this news in horror, but is unable to do anything, and leaves for his room. Nathalie questions Gabriel's decision, and he smugly retorts that it is for Adrien's own good, and that nobody can stop his plans anyway.

In "Revelation", Gabriel removes Lila as the female avatar on the Alliance rings, replacing her with Kagami. Lila arrives at the Agreste mansion and confronts him via security camera, remarking that the change was not part of their agreement. He replies that their agreement was that she would become an image of his brand if she watched over Adrien and protected him from negative influences, and she has failed to do this with Marinette. He further remarks that she gave him the idea to make Kagami the new female face of his brand, as it will project the image of Adrien and her being a couple, which will hurt his relationship with Marinette. Lila inquires what will become of her, Gabriel saying she will remain what she is—nothing. Gabriel hangs up and senses Lila's anger building, but chooses not to akumatize someone who hates him.

Lila swears to show Monarch that he can't get rid of her so easily, and enacts a plan to usurp Marinette's position as class representative, then feigns distress over Marinette's mistreatment and feeling purposeless to draw Monarch's attention. Monarch senses her hatred, and decides to akumatize her now that she is no longer angry at him. He sends an akuma to Lila, and she blames all of her problems on Marinette, asking to have the power to take revenge upon her. He agrees, acknowledging her as Hoaxer, and grants her the power to convince anyone of her lies, with the Fox Miraculous' power of Mirage to make them real. Hoaxer begins transmitting herself through Alliance rings and brainwashes all Alliance users in Paris with her lies, including that Marinette is really Monarch and Ladybug and Cat Noir are polluting villains from Saturn, to Monarch's amusement.

Hoaxer and her minions manage to capture Cat Noir as he is providing a distraction, and Monarch compliments her success. Unbeknownst to him, Hoaxer brainwashes Nathalie, telling her that Gabriel is an alien and that she must covertly reveal his secrets. Nathalie obeys, and sends photos of Gabriel's secrets to Lila—including his real name and past, his discovery of the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculouses, his deals with Tomoe, the Miraculous Grimoire, his preservation of Emilie, and his wedding ring. Marinette exposes herself to Hoaxer as part of her plan to defeat her with Scarabella, but Hoaxer pretends to be touched by her words and rejects Monarch's power. Monarch de-transforms and rages that Marinette will pay for foiling his plans again. Afterwards, Lila receives Nathalie's photos, planning to steal Gabriel's Miraculouses now that she has his secrets.

In "Confrontation", Monarch senses Juleka's despair after her and the other students' career paths are sabotaged by Chloé and Lila, as part of their plan to destroy Marinette's reputation. Monarch teleports an akuma to Juleka, offering to give her the power to make sure her voice is heard. Juleka accepts and is transformed back into Reflekta, with new ability to control her copies, as well as the Tiger Miraculous' power of Clout. Reflekta is quickly defeated by Ladybug and Cat Noir, but Monarch remains confident, able to sense that there is still negativity amongst Miss Bustier's class. Soon, Lila and Chloé are exposed for their manipulations by Marinette and Sabrina, although Chloé is able to use her father to keep them from getting expelled, and prevent the class' forged career paths from being revoked.

Mr. Damocles falls into despair over having failed his students, which Monarch senses. He teleports another akuma, but Marinette is able to hold it off, noticing Damocles' Magical Charm beginning to glow in response to positive encouragement. Marinette and her classmates—with help from Cat Noir—encourage Damocles against the akuma, transforming his Magical Charm into a shield which instantly purifies it. Monarch rants at having been defeated by children, and swears that he isn't done with them yet. In the aftermath, Damocles stands up against Mayor Bourgeois' decision and resigns as principal, while Lila, now Cerise, begins plotting to enact a greater plan with Chloé.

In "Collusion", Gabriel speaks to Emilie about how he promised to do everything to see her return, and that they are almost there. As he is returning to the mansion, he overhears Nathalie listening to one of Emilie's video recordings. In the recording, Emilie describes how nothing can stop Gabriel when he has an idea, and that he took her too far in his attempt to make her happy and cannot understand when to let go. She tells Nathalie to protect Adrien and that he should have the right to create his own happiness; Gabriel sneers, and walks away. He makes breakfast for Adrien and Nathalie and asks how Marinette handled the news about him leaving for London. He realizes that Adrien hasn't told her yet and understands that it is difficult, but insists that he is doing it for Adrien's happiness.

Nathalie accuses Gabriel of conflating Adrien's happiness with his own. While twisting his wedding ring, Gabriel declares that he knows what is best for his son. Adrien responds that he should've listened to Marinette's advice, as his pancakes still taste terrible, and storms out. Later, Cerise begins plotting with Chloé remotely, speaking with her through an earpiece while looking upon a conspiracy board depicting Paris' heroes, villains, and influential figures—Gabriel, Hawk Moth, and Monarch included; and shown to be connected. Together, Chloé and Cerise use the former's influence to get both Marinette and Ms. Bustier taken out of the school. Monarch senses Miss Bustier's sadness and attempts to akumatize her into Miss Sans-Culotte, but she calms herself enough to reject his power.

Monarch is then notified about his appointment with Mayor Bourgeois and Tomoe, and angrily de-transforms. Gabriel heads to his meeting, followed by Cerise. There, he and Tomoe present their plan to introduce a unit of police robots to guard Paris. André hesitates, despite Gabriel and Tomoe's insistence that the current police are helpless against Monarch, and that he should rely on a force he can control rather than Ladybug and Cat Noir. Chloé barges in on the meeting to insult her father for hanging up on her; guided by Cerise, who observes from and and spies on the meeting through her Alliance camera. Cerise has Chloé rouse Gabriel's interest by claiming that he has no authority and that she should be mayor. Gabriel takes Chloé's side, saying that she has more courage than her father.

André says that Chloé's demands are unreasonable, asking how Gabriel would react if he was asked to pull Adrien out of school; Gabriel responds that this isn't an issue, since Adrien will soon be going to London. André takes his daughter out of the room, leaving Tomoe to remark that the mayor is wasting precious time that they cannot afford to waste. Gabriel decides to go talk to André, following him out onto the balcony, where Cerise spies on him. André asks Gabriel what his robot plan is really about; Gabriel insists that he's never had a bad idea, and that he and André always used to help each other. Nostalgic, André reflects on when both he and Gabriel were young and poor, and that their lives were happier back then. Gabriel tells André that he has everything he needs to be happy; the woman he loves, a daughter, and the town hall.

André bitterly remarks that Audrey doesn't respect him, his daughter is heartless, and he only became a mayor to impress his wife, angering Gabriel. André expresses regret at his life and his abuse of power, extending this to Gabriel for no longer designing things to help people realize their dreams. He expresses hope that they can still give up their privileges and achieve their dreams; he thus declines Gabriel's proposal, leaving him to bitterly walk away. Gabriel heads back to his atelier, and begins editing a recording he made of his conversation with André, making him seem heartless and corrupt. He sends the video to Ms. Bustier, enraging her again. He then succeeds in akumatizing her into Miss Sans-Culotte to get revenge on the mayor, and arms her with the Pig Miraculous' power of Gift.

Monarch de-transforms and calls Tomoe to tell her his trap is in place, and that the only step left is to empower Chloé. Miss Sans-Culotte rampages across Paris, transforming her victims into balloon minions entranced by Gift, and broadcasts André's edited confession on the news. After Chloé receives news of the video, she is called by Gabriel. Gabriel claims to have been inspired by her previous display of authority, and offers her a gift of power. Chloé refuses this as she already has power, only to reconsider his offer when Cerise points out that her father will likely lose his position soon, and that her actions will catch up with her without an alternative.

At the same time, André calls Gabriel, telling him that their friendship is over, but he has inspired him to make a decision. Miss Sans-Culotte then enters, monitored closely by Ladybug and Cat Noir, and demands André surrender his position. To their surprise, André agrees and apologizes for his actions, restoring Miss Sans-Culotte to her job before resigning as mayor; as a result, Miss Sans-Culotte willingly rejects Monarch's power. Once Ladybug restores things to normal, Chloé bursts in, surrounded by reporters and Gabriel and Tomoe's police robots, accusing the heroes of abusing their power to help a supervillain force her father to resign. They are forced to flee, and Chloé declares herself to be the new mayor of Paris, and that Ladybug, Cat Noir and Monarch are outlaws.

In "Revolution", Gabriel and Tomoe attend a meeting with Chloé, complimenting her on her successes as mayor. After this, Monarch calls Tomoe from his lair, talking to her about their plan—intending for Chloé to make such a mess that Ladybug and Cat Noir will have no choice but to intervene, without expecting to face an opponent with superpowers. As he speaks, Monarch takes on multiple powers, and teleports himself into the mayor's office with Voyage. Chloé turns her robots against him, but Tomoe secretly disables their offensive capabilities so they can't attack Monarch while he spins his offer to the new Mayoress. Monarch offers to make a deal with Chloé, which she accepts under Cerise's instruction. Monarch offers to give her superpowers, but make it appear as if she doesn't have any so that she doesn't go back on her anti-superpower policies.

Chloé accepts, and is akumatized into Queen Mayor; who retains her civilian appearance, with control over enhanced versions of her police robots, which are armed with the powers of the Turtle, Ox, Bee, Horse and Rooster Miraculouses. Monarch allows Queen Mayor to use her powers however she wishes, and teleports away; planning to let her keep her powers only as long as she is of use. Over the course of two days, Queen Mayor abuses her new powers by having her robots kidnap and imprison anyone who displeases her within a specially made prison. This includes Marinette and Adrien, who use their powers to escape and decide to confront Queen Mayor.

Gabriel and Tomoe attend a press conference where Queen Mayor announces her intentions not to host elections to elect a new Mayor, which is interrupted by Ladybug and Cat Noir. Queen Mayor reveals herself as a supervillain and captures the heroes inside Shell-ters infused with Resistance, which results in them beginning to publicly de-transform. While this happens, Gabriel and Tomoe respectively prepare to de-akumatize Queen Mayor and take control of the robots to seize the heroes' Miraculouses. However, this plan is foiled as Ladybug encourages the crowd to stand up against Queen Mayor, resulting in them tearing down her barricades to aid the heroes; in the chaos, Tomoe's laptop is knocked away. Queen Mayor is helpless as, with the robots disabled, and the crowd calling for blood, Chloé has effectively destroyed her own public image without knowing it.

Gabriel is forced to drag Tomoe aside as the battle begins, and watches as Ladybug and Cat Noir decide to keep on fighting and overcome their transformation limits. Gabriel angrily asks Nooroo how the heroes were able to do so. Nooroo says that Gabriel doesn't have transformation limits either, which he replies is only a power for adult Miraculous holders; Nooroo tells him that Ladybug and Cat Noir have grown up, thus allowing them to bypass the failsafe put in place for younger Miraculous users so they won't be in danger of using their special abilities repeatedly without transforming back to recuperate. An enraged Gabriel is then forced to flee with Tomoe, leaving Queen Mayor behind to be de-akumatized, and subsequently forced to leave Paris with her mother when ex-Mayor Bourgeois finally stands up to Chloé and drags her off to be punished, along with divorcing Audrey and exiling them from ever returning to Paris again. Gabriel returns home and confronts Adrien at the door, forcing him to pack his bags for London. Gabriel and Adrien drive to the airport; Gabriel refuses to listen to Adrien as he begs to remain in Paris, insisting that his mother would've wanted this.

Adrien tearfully replied that his mother would have wanted him to be happy, to which Gabriel has no response. When Adrien boards his plane, Tomoe calls Gabriel to tell him that they have sold enough Alliance Rings globally to place the entire world at their mercy; Gabriel agrees, saying that once their children are secure in London, they can initiate Operation Perfect Alliance. As this happens, Marinette drives onto the takeoff strip and kisses Adrien; seeing this, Gabriel orders an airport security man and Adrien's bodyguard Gorilla to separate them. They succeed, and Adrien is taken back into the plane, which takes off, leaving Marinette alone. Elsewhere, Cerise, who had been observing Gabriel and Tomoe from afar, seizes the former's discarded laptop and breaks into it.

In "Representation", while setting up the final touches to Operation Perfect Alliance, Gabriel uses virtual avatars of Adrien and Kagami to perpetuate the belief that they are a couple. But when Adrien and Kagami return to Paris separately, the former as Astrocat to tell Marinette his secret identity while the latter held help from Felix, Gabriel assures Tomoe that he will personally handle the problem. He barges into Nathalie's room in suspicion that she has something to do with Adrien's disappearance, taking back Emilie's ring from her in her weakened state to have full control of Adrien. He soon realizes Adrien is making his way to Marinette, akumatizing himself into Nightormentor to track them down by attacking their friends during their end of the year party on the Eiffel Tower. Cat Noir engages Nightormentor as the latter afflicts Rose and Juleka with his nightmare-inducing gas.

Before their battle can continue, Nightormentor teleports away, and Cat Noir and the students deduce he is going to Marinette's home. Nightormentor investigates Marinette's room, and again fights with Cat Noir before teleporting away. Cat Noir pursues Nightormentor across Paris, all the while berating him for his terrible parentage and behavior, before being hit with the gas and forced into experiencing a nightmare where he destroyed the world as Cat Blanc, cradling Ladybug's petrified body in his arms before she crumbled to ash and dust, leaving him devastated. Nightormentor tells him he can end his suffering by surrendering his Miraculous, which Cat Noir reluctantly agrees to. But the Resistance intervene, distracting Nightormentor long enough for Cat Noir to recover and destroys his blow dart gun to de-akumatize him. Marinette, having been hinted to Gabriel's identity as Monarch by Félix and Kagami in secret, purifies the akuma Cat Noir and the Resistance had left for her. But as Ladybug didn't create a Lucky Charm, Nightormentor's influence forces Adrien to return to London where he and Kagami are put in solitary confinement as their parents commence their plan.

In "The Final Day" two-parter, his previous akumatization being a test run of his powers, Gabriel becomes Nightormentor with added Miraculous abilities to induce nightmares across the planet, with Tomoe launching an app that clams the users. They then spread propaganda that Ladybug and Cat Noir kidnapped Adrien and Kagami, turning most of the Alliance users into Miraculized soldiers to track the heroes down, armed with the powers of the Rooster, Horse, Bee, and Tiger Miraculous to attack whoever gets in their way, including anyone allied with Ladybug and Cat Noir, including the Resistance, Ladydragon, the United Heroez, and the Guardians. Gabriel is alerted that Ladybug was sighted as his estate, arriving to learn that she is Marinette while using her Miraculous with the Cat Miraculous that Plagg brought at Adrien's request to become Bug Noire. Both engage into a battle that ravages the mansion before it leads to Gabriel's lair. It is there that Marinette discovers Emilie in her cryo-pod, and learns the truth of why Gabriel has been after the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous all this time, leaving her livid at how insane Gabriel has become in his mad obsession to revive Emilie, heal his Cataclysm injury, and make Adrien and Kagami the eternal icons of the new universe he wants to bring into existence with the Ultimate Miraculous Absolute Power. Despite her calling him out on his insanity, Gabriel believes he's come too far now to turn back and has already crossed the point of no return. As their fight continues, it ends with Bug Noire forcing Monarch into defending Emilie before removing the Butterfly Miraculous while he was distracted protecting his wife.

Gabriel: Nooroo, bring me back the brooch...(grunts)
Marinette/Bug Noire: I'm still the Guardian, and the Guardian just took the Miraculous of the Butterfly back from you! Its power is no longer yours! Nooroo will only obey the next person who uses the brooch -- someone that I'LL be choosing!
Gabriel: Veno- (Marinette stops his attack cold with her bare hand)
Marinette/Bug Noire: I can just say the word and the rings will be destroyed. You'll be powerless. The Kwamis will be free. Thanks to my magic ladybugs, I'll repair the chaos YOU created! Then I'll send Plagg out to give the Black Cat Miraculous back to its holder, and everything will be back to normal. Checkmate.
~ Marinette makes it clear to Gabriel it is over. He's lost.

Despite losing the Butterfly Miraculous, Marinette attempts to reason with Gabriel, trying to convince him that everything he's done for Adrien was never what Emilie wanted, playing her last video she recorded for Nathalie before slipping into her coma. As Gabriel listens to Emilie, who asked Nathalie to watch over Adrien if Gabriel couldn't let go of his obsession to bring her back, as she never wanted to be revived, he breaks down in shame and grief, finally realizing he's ruined Adrien's life along with who knows how many others because of his mad quest to bring Emilie back when she had already accepted her fate. Admitting that when she slipped into her coma, his entire world came to an end as he couldn't live without her, it appears Gabriel is ready to find atonement in his dying moments. Seeing this, Marinette reverts back from Bug Noire to offer her help, but Tikki and Plagg warn her not to trust him. They were right. Gabriel tricks Marinette into lowering her guard in her attempt to help him so he can paralyze her with Venom and take her Miraculous. He then proceeds to have Tikki and Plagg merge to summon Gimmi, the Kwami of Reality, to grant his wish. But he realized there was truth in Marinette's words as he uses his wish to awaken Nathalie with his own life as repayment to be with Emilie in the afterlife. In his final moments, he asks Marinette not to reveal his villainous alter ego to his son: Adrien. He also relinquishes the Miraculous rings he still had, and the Graham de Vanily twin rings that were his and Emilie's wedding rings, and the source of Adrien's Amok due to his Sentimonster origins. After that, he turns to Gimmi, and makes his wish...

Gimmi: What do you wish for?
Gabriel: Read my heart.
Gimmi: What do you sacrifice?
Gabriel: Read my soul.
(Gimmi is surprised by what she discovers, but nevertheless does her duty)
Gimmi: So be
it.
~ Gabriel makes his wish, and atones for his crimes as Hawk Moth/Shadow Moth/Monarch

As Gimmi grants Gabriel's wish, he and Emilie's body rise into the air and disappear together into the afterlife before Marinette shields her eyes as Gimmi begins the process of destroying and recreating the universe in accordance to Gabriel's wish, taking Marinette and everyone else with it.

Legacy[]

Adrien: Ladybug?!
Bug Noire: Uh...uh...
Adrien: My father's not here? Why aren't you saying anything?
Bug Noire: Your father...your father was...
(Adrien gasps in horror, realizing something terrible has happened to his father)
Bug Noire: Was...a hero. Your father was a hero.
(Adrien and Placide I.T. are horrified, realizing Gabriel is dead. Kagami simply lowers her head and tries to avoid eye contact with Adrien)
Bug Noire: The truth is...Monarch was forcing your father and Mrs. Tsurugi to work for him. He forced them to design the Alliance Rings in order to turn the entire world against me and Cat Noir. If they said "no", Monarch threatened to go after you and Kagami.
Adrien: But I saw your ladybugs fly by. Which means you defeated Monarch.
Bug Noire: I did face him, in your home. He...he had taken Nathalie and your father hostage. And I fought as hard as I could, but...he was too mighty and, Monarch had too many powers, too many Miraculous. He severely injured me. I couldn't stop him from taking the Miraculous of the Ladybug and the Black Cat. Monarch was about to make a wish, and that's...when your father...that's when your father became a hero. At the last minute your father pounced on Monarch, seized the Miraculous, and made a wish in his place. He saved Nathalie's life and mine in exchange for Monarch's life, and his own.
(Bug Noire approaches Adrien as Kagami and Placide I.T. look on in sorrow. When she tries to take his hand, he shoves her away in heartbroken anguish.)
Adrien: Why didn't you save him?! And even if something had happened to him, aren't your magic ladybugs supposed to repair everything?! This is impossible! YOU HAVE TO BE WRONG!!
Bug Noire: (faced wracked with guilt and remorse) I swear I tried everything!
Adrien: (Looking at the Black Cat Miraculous and the Turtle Miraculous Alliance Ring on Bug Noire's fingers) If he hadn't locked me in here...I could've saved him...
Bug Noire: Believe me, there's nothing you could've done.
Adrien: Dad...
Bug Noire: That's why your father had sent you and Kagami here to London. To protect you.
(Adrien continues to sob in grief as Kagami comforts him)
Bug Noire: I'm so sorry. There was no good way of telling you all of this. (kneeling as she tries to offer her support as well) But I wanted to be the one to say it before you found out some other way. I'm...(eyes welling up with tears)...I'm so...so sorry, Adrien...I...
Kagami: Thank you, Ladybug. Surely you have many other things to deal with.
Bug Noire: (wiping her eyes) Yes...(turns to leave, but looks back one last time at Adrien before departing and returning home)
~ Bug Noire breaks the bad news to Adrien of his father's death
Reporter: Ladybug! Can you explain what really happened?
Another reporter: The fight took place at the famous fashion designer Gabriel Agreste's home. Is there a connection between Mr. Agreste and Monarch?
Ladybug: The man who went by Hawk Moth, Shadow Moth, and lastly Monarch, had forced Mr. Gabriel Agreste and Mrs. Tsurugi to design the Alliance Rings. He planned to Miraculize the entire world in order to seize the Miraculous of the Ladybug and the Black Cat.
Reporter: But why was he after your Miraculous?
Ladybug: Haven't got a clue.
Reporter: Ladybug! You've defeated Monarch! Which means you uncovered who he was beneath the mask, right?
Ladybug: No. We'll never know about his secret identity, but thanks to Gabriel Agreste's heroic sacrifice, we're finally free from Monarch.
Reporter: Is it true you couldn't reclaim the Miraculous of the Butterfly?
Ladybug: Y-Yes, but...
Reporter: Did you lose because you had to face Monarch alone?
Ladybug: I'm sorry. There's nothing more I can say. Bug out. (swings away with her yo-yo)
Reporters: Ladybug! LADYBUG!
~ Ladybug's "truth" that she tells the world

After Gimmi re-created the universe, one where Nathalie is cured of her aliment, she and Marinette honor Gabriel's final request with the latter approaching Adrien as Bug Noire to inform him that Gabriel died saving her and Nathalie by using Gimmi to wish himself and Monarch out of existence. Nathalie and Marinette also see to the destruction of anything that would expose the truth of Gabriel's crimes as Monarch, including Kwami cage and Emilie's now empty cryo-pod, which Marinette destroys with Cataclysm, along with the catwalk and elevator to the Crypt, permanently sealing it so no one ever uncovers the truth. Marinette then goes before the public and press as Ladybug to spin the cover story she and Nathalie created to ensure no one knows of Gabriel's evil acts. Months later, with Paris and the rest of the world unaware of the truth, Gabriel is praised as a hero with the Alliance Rings being destroyed and melted down into a statue made in his honor. Tomoe, having escaped justice despite Marinette knowing her involvement, but thanks to Kagami speaking with her mother personally to convince her to atone for her actions aiding Gabriel, took over the Gabriel brand, and has refused revealing the real truth to anyone. Amelie and Felix move into the Agreste mansion to live with Adrien, who is still unaware of the truth as Marinette gives him the Graham de Vanily Twin Rings and his freedom. Placide I.T., who was also shocked and heartbroken to learn of his benefactor's death, continues to serve and take care of Adrien alongside Nathalie, Amelie, and Felix.

However, with only Marinette and Alix aware of this, Cerise stole the Butterfly Miraculous during Marinette and Gabriel's final confrontation and becomes the new Hawk Moth to get her revenge on Ladybug. Also, unknown to Gabriel, Cerise used her new powers to secretly spy on Gabriel's final moments to learn and record his secrets such as his wish and the truth of him being Monarch with Nathalie and Tomoe as his accomplices. Also Gabriel was mentioned when Chronobug altered Cerise's journal regarding the heroine's secret identity by saying it was Gabriel Agreste, which an enraged Cerise immediately knows that's fake as Gabriel Agreste was dead, so there was no way he could have been Ladybug, ruining her carefully laid out plan to acquire Gimmi, and thus vow vengeance on Ladybug.

Season 6[]

As shown in the new intro under the Unreal Engine animation that the series switched over to, Marinette still bears the regret and shame of knowing the truth about Gabriel being Hawk Moth/Shadow Moth/Monarch, and knows that if the truth ever became public knowledge, her reputation would be ruined once everyone knew she lied about Gabriel and she'd be labeled a pariah for hiding the truth that Gabriel was the original Butterfly Miraculous holder that caused Paris and the world so much suffering and grief in his mad quest to revive his wife and Adrien's mother.

In "Werepapas", Gabriel's parents, Johnny and Gabrielle Grassette, come to visit Adrien alongside Lord Emil and Lady Milly Graham de Vanily, Emilie's parents, to discuss Adrien's future. Emil wants Adrien to come live in London with his family, but Johnny is against that idea, and it soon descends into a heated argument when Emil once again tries to bribe and pay Johnny off to let Adrien go and give up his visitation rights, but like before with Emilie and Gabriel when they got married, Emilie renounced her family, and came to live with Gabriel in Paris, Johnny viciously refuses. Their arguing soon leads to Milly losing patience and locking herself in another room with the Twin Rings, allowing them to be infected with Lila/Chrysalis' Ultrakuma and turn Milly into Ringmaster, turning Emil and Johnny into werewolves and forcing them against their will to fight to the death, with Adrien trapped in a giant trophy and unable to escape. Ladybug is able to defeat Ringmaster, purify the Ultrakuma, and restore everything with Miraculous Ladybug, and Adrien convinces both his maternal and paternal grandparents to accept his decision to remain in Paris with Nathalie, Gorilla, Marinette, and all his friends/classmates, but promises to visit them from time to time, such as during the holidays, and the grandparents promise to visit each other as well.

In a flashback to when Emilie was still alive, but slowly dying from her illness from using the Peacock Miraculous while it was damaged, Gabriel returns home from one of his excursions to find the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous empty-handed. He barely acknowledges Adrien when he asks him if he had any luck and replies "no" before sealing himself in his office, leaving Nathalie to comfort Adrien as a wheelchair-bound Emilie smiles from the upper balcony before returning to her room as she nears her death.

In "Revelator", Marinette's darkest secret of knowing Gabriel was Monarch is captured in a crystal orb by an Akumatized Vincent as the titular supervillain. Rena Rouge happens to pick up said orb, and seeing the truth, she is infuriated at Ladybug for hiding this information from Adrien. Despite Ladybug's insistence that he can't know the truth or he could be vulnerable to Akumatization, leading to a future like in "Cat Blanc" or "Ephemeral", Rena is upset that now she has to keep up the lie as well when she has her morals with telling the truth. Luckily, Cat Noir is able to use his Miraculous Cat Noir to erase the knowledge from Rena's memory, thus preserving the truth so only Marinette/Ladybug is aware of Gabriel's evil actions and the rest of the world still believes he died a hero stopping Monarch.

In "El Toro de Piedra", Gabriel had left a letter addressed to Adrien that he had written some time around when he first created the Alliance Rings and was infected with his Cataclysm wound, leaving him on borrowed time. When Marinette finds it and shows it to Nathalie, it reveals that Gabriel had intended to confess to Adrien of his evil acts as Monarch, under the surmise of asking Adrien to continue his legacy, secure the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous, and use Gimmi and the Ultimate Miraculous Absolute Power to bring him and Emilie back. Shocked and horrified by Gabriel wanting Adrien to follow in his footsteps and continue his villainous actions, Nathalie prepared to destroy the letter, but Marinette decides to hold onto it, in case she decides to show Adrien herself. However, later, when she is about to do so, she balks, hiding the letter in the back of her blazer, after hearing Adrien reminisce about the good times he had with Gabriel before he became so cold and distant, deciding now is not the time to show it to him.

However, it is revealed in the stinger of the episode that Gabriel was just one of a larger group that sought out the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous for their "Perfect World Project". Gabriel was known under the callsign "The Diamond", and Nathalie was assigned to be his "Shadow" and watch over him. With him dead, and the group knowing the truth that he was Monarch and Ladybug lied to the world, they ask Nathalie if she has any further information regarding his final moments, but she tells them she was unconscious at the time and can't provide more details, suggesting they ask "The Machine" for the info instead. The Machine, revealed to be Tomoe Tsurugi, also says she has nothing else to go on regarding Gabriel's last moments, indicating she and Nathalie are protecting Marinette and the other Miraculers from being targeted by the group. Nevertheless, Tomoe offers to take over from where Gabriel left off, and have Nathalie be assigned as her "Shadow" to that end. The group votes, and unanimously agree to assign Nathalie to Tomoe and have Tomoe continue from where Gabriel left off with Operation Perfect Alliance. After they all leave, the remaining member reveals himself to be Nathalie's father, Camilo Pista, who reminds his daughter of his own intentions for the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous before giving them to the rest of the group.

Things take a major turn in "Yaksi Gozen" as, in the cold open, during Operation Perfect Alliance, when Tomoe contacted Gabriel and reminded him of their agreement regarding the Ultimate Miraculous Absolute Power, with his plans so close to fruition, Monarch double-crosses Tomoe and tells her he's breaking off their deal, intending to use the wish for his own selfish intent. Angered by his betrayal, Tomoe dispatches Cerise to infiltrate the Agreste Mansion and keep an eye on Gabriel as he has his final clash with Marinette as Bug Noire. It was also revealed that Gabriel, when he was still Hawk Moth, contacted Tomoe and asked her to come to Paris to help him repair the damaged Peacock Miraculous for Nathalie to use. However, angered by how the Peacock Miraculous took away her eyesight when she used it to give birth to Kagami, Tomoe refused, but when Gabriel offered to pair Kagami up with Adrien as someone Tomoe could trust to go steady in a relationship with Kagami, she agreed, thus setting up their partnership that led to the Alliance Rings and Operation Perfect Alliance. When Gabriel then double-crossed her during their endgame, Tomoe sent Cerise to presumably take the Butterfly Miraculous from him after he was disarmed of it by Marinette as revenge. Nevertheless, Tomoe still had to keep her dealings with Gabriel as a willing partner in his mad schemes buried, or she would potentially be sent to prison for life, and Kagami used that as blackmail to keep her mother in line, reminding her that Adrien already lost Gabriel and Emilie, so there is no way Kagami wants to lose her own mother as well in Tomoe. As for the secret organization that Gabriel and Tomoe belonged to, known as "The Kingdom", they managed to find a successor to take Gabriel's place as The Diamond on the council.
