| “ | I'm sure your sister isn't killing people, right? But I've read the wrong person plays this game, it can warp their mind. They confuse fantasy and reality, and innocent people die. I mean, it's been happening all over the country. It's like an epidemic. [...] And I think Eddie... He's the wrong type of person, right? You know, he got lost. He thought Chrissy was just a part of his... his sick game. And chances are, he's still in the game. Meaning... He's gonna kill again. But not if we can help it. Would Chrissy want us to just stand by while the cops go around pursuing some bullsh-t leads, spreading rumors saying she's some druggie? No! She'd want us to go out there. To do something about it, wouldn't she? Then let's hunt some freak! For Chrissy! Yeah! Let's go! | „ |

| ~ Jason forming the new plan. |
At the pre-game rally, the team made its first appearance, igniting a fan frenzy. The team's captain, Jason Carver, gave a speech with the hope that they would succeed and move on to the finals if they won. He also spoke of the recent disasters at Hawkins and how they could be used as catalysts for reform and progress in a more positive way. In the end, Lucas Sinclair, one of the key players, made the decisive shot in the game's final seconds, much to the joy of the entire team. The group had a party, drank, and spent the night at Benny's Burgers.
The following morning, Jason and his buddies are seen watching the news as they learn of the most recent murder at the Forest Hills Trailer Park. When the police show up, Callahan and Powell question Jason Carver. When Jason finds out that Chrissy Cunningham, his girlfriend, was the murder victim, he starts to organize the search for Eddie Munson. He and his crew do not accept that Chrissy went to Eddie to acquire drugs infuriates them all, which leads to the start of the hunt. The crew starts gathering equipment and tools that will likely be used to torture and question Eddie Munson until he confesses to his supposed crime. When Lucas Sinclair notices the cache of guns, he is initially apprehensive but eventually decides to join the hunt to defend his personal reputation. Jason and his friends set out for a few different locales, but they first stop at the home of Gareth, a fellow Hellfire Club member. Jason Carver demands to know where Eddie Munson is when they go to Gareth's residence. When he denies knowing where he is, Jason assaults him and threatens to break his finger. Jason and the others are informed by Gareth that Dustin Henderson and Eddie Munson may be together.
The group leaves the home and heads over to Dustin's residence. They don't find anyone home when they get to Dustin's house. After Jason assaulted Gareth, Lucas Sinclair begins to devise his own strategy for informing the others that Jason and his teammates intend to capture, torture, and perhaps kill Eddie. The others travel to the area that Lucas Sinclair directs them to go to after he claims to know where Eddie is hiding. As soon as they get there, Jason starts formulating a plan for how to catch Eddie and keep him from escaping. After the start of their strategy, Lucas leaves. After Lucas Sinclair thwarts their plans, they begin to suspect Lucas is connected to Eddie Munson. Jason and his teammates attempt to capture and possibly kill Lucas too. When the crew visits Lucas' house, Jason speaks with Lucas' sister, Erica Sinclair. The squad searched for Lucas after learning that he might be with Dustin. When they are unable to locate him, they turn back till nightfall. When the group arrives at Chrissy's funeral, Jason can be observed being both sad and angry. Patrick McKinney, one of the teammates, is seen showing concern and hesitation after suggesting that they might have been cursed although Jason defends Patrick after the rest of the team mocks him over it.
A new strategy is formed, and the crew sets out to find Eddie in every corner of Hawkins. They travel to Reefer Rick's residence after hearing from one of the other teammates that Eddie might find refuge there. Jason and his companions tour Reefer Rick's home. Eddie is spotted by Jason and Patrick trying to escape in a boat, so they both begin swimming after him. Unfortunately, Patrick is killed by Vecna in front of Jason and Eddie. Heartbroken and in grief from the loss of his friend, Jason and the group then convince the town's residents that Eddie is responsible for Patrick's death and the other murders because he is a Satanic vessel in the meeting hall that follows. In the town hall, the group is seen giving the townspeople copies of documents bearing an image of the Hellfire Club. They now start to acquire and buy deadly weapons like knives and guns after the death of their friend. Jason buys a 357-magnum revolver and practices with it in the hopes that Lucas or Eddie will be his next victim in the crossfire. Jason receives a message from Andy saying that they have located Erica, Lucas, and Max.
