The Headless Horseman is one of the main antagonists of the Scooby-Doo franchise. It is a persona adopted by Elwood Crane to steal his aunt's diamond necklace when his company went bankrupt.
He was voiced by the late John Stephenson.
Biography[]
The Scooby-Doo Show[]
The Headless Horseman first appeared as the main antagonist in The Scooby-Doo Show episode, "The Headless Horseman of Halloween", he was a Hessian soldier fighting for the Redcoats until his head was blown off by a cannonball. They never found his head and the body was buried in Sleepy Hollow. He rose every Halloween to look for a new head. He stole Elwood's head, but in reality, it was Elwood himself who was behind it all to try and steal the Crane family diamond because his business went bankrupt.
Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed[]
The Headless Horseman made a cameo appearance in the second live-action film, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. The costume was put on display in the Coolsonian Criminology Museum. Later, the costume was stolen along with others by the Black Knight Ghost, 10,000 Volt Ghost, and the Evil Masked Figure. It was not brought to life, however; it could have been brought to life but just not featured in the movie. The costume was later returned to the museum.
LEGO Scooby-Doo! Haunted Hollywood[]
The Headless Horseman appeared in the 2016 film, LEGO Scooby-Doo! Haunted Hollywood, where he was the disguise of Atticus Fink.

Trivia[]
- The Headless Horseman is based on the main antagonist of the same name from the short story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
- In the live-action film, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, there was deleted scene in the Monster Hive where Shaggy Rogers kicked off his pumpkin head and his body ran into a wall.
- This is a rare instance where a villain deliberately shows his unmasked face while in his monster disguise. This is because the Horseman had supposedly taken his head (Elwood's) for his own.
