Henry Masterson aka Headmaster is a major antagonist in Transformers: Animated.

Biography[]
Henry Masterson debuts in "The Headmaster", where he was excited to work for Issac Sumdac, his idol. He decides to impress Sumdac by showing him his invention of a Headmaster unit, which he demonstrates by getting inside of the head and uses it to replace a warbot's head of his. He starts controlling it but accidentally fires off a rocket that heads straight for Detroit, so Isaac fires him. Henry went back to his Hideout and uses Rock'em Sock'em Robots to imitate himself beating up Issac Sumdac, then steals Bulkhead's body to get revenge on his old boss. The next morning Bulkhead realizes his body got stolen so the rest of the Autobots took him back to their lair and figured out that Henry, know calling himself the Headmaster, took it to blow up Detroit. The Autobots come to the rescue and get Bulkhead's body back when Optimus Prime uses Bulkhead's head as a wrecking ball to knock the Headmaster unit off. Though Masterson is able to escape, the Autobots succeed in saving the city.
Masterson returns in "The Return of the Headmaster", after Porter C. Powell took control of Sumdac Industries. Powell rehired Masterson and gave him Sari's room after kicking Sari out. Later, he steals Sentinel Prime's body and upgrades it. Optimus later defeated him, but Powell keeps Fanzone from arresting him. In "A Bridge Too Close", the Decepticons steal Masterson's Headmaster Unit to be placed on Bulkhead's body if he refuses to work on the Space Bridge.
In "TransWarped". after Sumdac was rescued, he was shocked to see both Masterson and Powell have taken over his company, and fires them both. In his final appearance, Masterson tries to once again to get revenge on Sumdac by destroying him and his daughter, Sari. He is defeated by Optimus Prime and gets arrested.
Personality[]
Masterson is a geeky immature scientist who speaks in outdated internet slang. He seems particularly fond of referring to those he dislikes as "noobs". When he first meets Professor Sumdac, he gushes on how he's always admired his work and how he grew up tinkering with his robots. However, he loses respect for Sumdac when he gets chewed out for attempting to make weapons for the company and fired because of his dangerous Headmaster unit demonstration, sending Masterson into a vengeful rage, even though he knew Sumdac had a strict policy against building weapons. It should also be noted that even before his employment was terminated Masterson had a flagrant disregard for human life, and showed sadistic and controlling tendencies with his Headmaster unit, while operating the warbot. Like any sociopath, he refuses to acknowledge his own failings and of course boasts an over-inflated yet fragile ego.

Trivia[]
- Masterson's villain title and the functions of his Headmaster Unit are inspired by the Headmasters from the original Transformers toy line and fiction, which were introduced in 1987. However, unlike the original Headmaster system, which was based on mutual partnerships and purpose-built bodies, Masterson’s interpretation adopts a parasitic twist on the concept. In his version, the Headmaster Unit forcibly hijacks a target's body by decapitating them and attaching itself to the open neck socket.
