Headstrong is a minor antagonist in the Transformers franchise, especially Generation One.
He was voiced by the late Ron Feinberg, who also voiced Doc Terror in Centurions.
Headstrong debuted with the other Predacons in the third season opener "Five Faces of Darkness". Created by the Quintessons, he was sent to stop Blurr, Wheelie and Marissa Fairborne delivering Metroplex's transformation cog to Earth but was defeated by Sky Lynx.
Headstrong remained with Galvatron's Decepticons after the incident. He manned a cannon alongside Brawl in "Fight or Flee", failing to fire out of stubbornness. In "Nightmare Planet", he and the other Predacons ambushed the Autobots only to be affected by the Quintessons' dream machine and transported to a nightmare realm alongside them. During the incident, he worked with Rodimus Prime only to be damaged by an illusion of a giant Galvatron.
He was among the animal-form Transformers assembled to battle Tornedron in "Call of the Primitives". He last appeared in "The Return of Optimus Prime" among those infected with the Hate Plague.
Headstrong was first seen in the UK-exclusive story "Prey" where he and the other Predacons were summoned to Earth by Megatron to help him hunt Optimus Prime. In reality, they were working for Shockwave and abandoned Megatron mid-battle. They later returned to Cybertron only to discover that Ratbat had just sent Optimus Prime and Megatron back to Earth.
In US Issue #25, Headstrong and the others assisted Shockwave in another plan to depose Megatron, attacking him disguised as Autobots and sending him insane with paranoia. They remained on Earth after the incident and played a key role in "Grudge Match" where they ended up fighting the Dinobots, with Headstrong battling Slag and Snarl alongside Tantrum. He accompanied Ratbat in tracking down Buster Witwicky and the Throttlebots, and was among Onslaught's group attacking the Autobots on the moon.
Headstrong last appeared in the US comic during the Underbase Saga, where he and the other Predacons were detached to stop Scorponok and the Decepticon Headmasters leaving with knowledge of the Underbase. After the two Decepticon groups joined up with the Autobots to stop an Underbase-powered Starscream, Headstrong was among the party led by Grimlock and Scorponok who attempted to defend Tokyo and was deactivated by Starscream.
In Marvel UK's Earthforce storyline, Headstrong was part of Shockwave's Decepticon faction and attended an enclave with Megatron's group. He was knocked out by Jazz, who then worked with Bumblebee to frame Headstrong for an attack on Megatron, ending the peace talks. Once the two factions were united by Soundwave and Starscream, Headstrong took part in the attack on the Autobot base in "Divide and Conquer".
