Hi. This is Thesecret1070. I am an admin of this site. Edit as much as you wish, but one little thing... If you are going to edit a lot, then make yourself a user and login. Other than that, enjoy Villains Wiki!!!
Mick Rory, also known as Heat Wave, is a minor antagonist in the Absolute Flash series from DC's Absolute Universe.
He is one of the humans who became test subjects as Project Olympus, gaining a lava-like body and heat powers. Having escaped after a breach in safety caused by an accident, he'd find himself opposing a fellow meta human created (accidentally) by Project Olympus: Wally West.
Biography[]
Mick Rory has some past relationship with the Rogues, possibly being a former teamate of theirs. At some unknown time, he was elected to be a test subject for Project Olympus' projects to "enhance" the human race. Though Elenore Thawne said to Captain Snart and his friends that Mick didn't survive the tests, it was a lie as Mick was successfully mutated into a lava monster with heat powers, being contained under Fort Fox.
When teenager Wally West gains superspeed powers by virtue of an accident in a test at Project Olympus and causes destruction in the facility as he runs away, Mick is freed alongside fellow projects, running away and eventually finding himself in the sewers of the town of Iron Heights.
Wally finds Mick, startled, in the sewers and runs while avoiding his lava attacks which made difficult for him to run. Once in the surface, he attacks a nearby help house, nearly hitting Ralph Dibny with his lava before Wally takes them out of danger.
As Wally finds difficult to neutralize him, Grodd gives to idea of, rather than defeating Rory, helping him by taking heat away. Flash then uses his powers to absorb Heat Wave's heat, neutralizando his threat and leaving him still in the ground.
It is unknown the action killed Mick or simply took away his powers over his lava body. Either way, as Grodd pointed out, it is likely what Mick wantsd either way.
Trivia[]
Though retaining the character's name, relation to heat powers and relationship with the Rogues, this version of Heat Wave's design and more lava-like powers seem closer to a fellow Flash villain from the mainstream comics, Tar Pit.
